He who remains, or Kang the Conquerer, is complicated to say the least. He’s from the future, the backstory given here is pretty close to the comics. He has been named as the villain for the next Ant Man movie There’s has been different versions of him, there’s a future version of him named Immortus who gets recruited to work for the TVA, that’s what this one is mostly based on plus a separate character also called He Who Remains, last surviving employee at the end of time. That statue at the end is Kang the Conqueror, he is the villain for the next MCU Phase, a variant of He Who Remains. There is a theory that the Loki finale and the WandaVision finale are connected. That the multiverse starts branching at the moment Wanda defeats Agatha 27:55 - The moment where Wanda Maximoff becomes the Scarlet Witch in “WandaVision” happens at the same time that He Who Remains tells Loki and Sylvie, “We just crossed the threshold.”

That theory was debunked by the writers. It was purely coincidental.
@chrisd70473 жыл бұрын
@@seniorordenanza2387 Nexus beings are focal points for their respective universes. They are kind of what anchors each universe to the timeline. In the case of the main MCU universe of earth-616, Wanda is the nexus being, and she's notably powerful even amongst other nexus beings. They all have the ability to influence probability and are the node for magical energy for their universe, and then each one has some kind of unique power, like Wanda's hex magic. Part of the problem for our MCU universe is that our Nexus Being doesn't know how to control her power. I describe WandaVision as an exercise in demonstrating what can happen when a god grieves uncontrollably. The bigger problem is that she's learning how to control it from the Darkhold, and that's not a good thing.

I doubt thats the case though cause Falcon & The Winter Soldier takes place after that and theres nothing to do with the multiverse there. Something I've been thinking about since I first watched the finale: it definitely felt like Loki and Sylvie were being set up. The first thing they encounter in the citadel is Miss Minutes, who is laying a prospective deal out for the two of them; and the deal she’s presenting is just the right combination of incredibly tempting and obviously too good to be true. I don’t think that Kang expected or intended for them to accept that deal, it was just there to throw them off balance, to derail them with something unexpected, and to plant the seed of the idea that whoever they’re about to encounter would rather cut a deal than pick a fight with them. And then the man himself shows up and he’s quirky and kind of off-kilter and presumably not at all what they were expecting. He starts giving the exposition and while he’s explaining who he is and everything that’s actually going on he keeps throwing out jabs at both of them along the lines of how awful and untrustworthy they are and specifically pointing out Loki’s history of megalomania. Then he gets to his stated purpose for bringing them here: so that the two of them could take his place. Now, lets be honest here; Loki and Sylvie taking charge of things and continuing to run everything as Kang laid out, the TVA are functionally unchanged, still operating in the way they always have just without being lied to about their origins and purpose and under new management--that is not something that Sylvie would ever agree to, and I don’t think anyone who has knows anything about her would expect her to agree to that. The prospect of controlling the very thing she’s spent most of her life trying to destroy is not going to tempt her away from what she came here to do; not when the person she blames for the lifetime of suffering she’s endured is within convenient stabbing range. Loki, on the other hand is a slightly different story. You would have to not be paying attention at all to the journey he’s been on across this series to think that ruling the TVA is something he would even remotely give a crap about anymore, but the prospect of a Bigger Bad (or several) who makes Thanos look like a irritated toddler and would rip the timeline apart without thinking about it; that would definitely give him pause. Loki and Sylvie have shown that they are stronger together than they are apart, and the two of them presenting a unified opposition to him would be a lot harder to deal with than the two of them at cross purposes with each other. This entire encounter seems almost tailor made to drive a wedge between them. Which seems odd, given his stated goal was to pass the TVA on to them and put them in charge of the timeline; it seems like that would work better if everyone was on the same page. Now, why he would want this outcome is the question. I think that he was telling the truth about being tired to doing this whole thing himself, but I don’t think he would actually trust anyone else to take his place. Anyone else, especially for example, variants who have a pretty big chip on their shoulder with regards to the TVA and what they do, would likely have their own ideas about how things should be run and how events should be organized on the timeline. And before you know it the entire order he’s spent god know how long creating is just completely out the window. I think it was his intention to be killed here so that one of his other variants could slip into his place and take over. Sure, doing that is going to make the timeline a bit of a mess for a while, but he trusts himself to pick up the pieces and put everything back in order. (This is, admittedly, me fully in the 'thumbtacks and string' zone based on my somewhat limited knowledge of Kang from the comics. This is just my own little fan theory)

You're 100% right. Kang was gaslighting her the entire time, he WANTED himself to die. For what reason? Lord knows, but he did NOT want them to rule together.
@Hawk_of_Battle Жыл бұрын
I'm gona assume that, long term, the entire multiverse war is a one big time loop, or at the very least, history repeats itself to some extent. Everything is nice and contained for eons, until the one in charge gets tired, then arranges for a successor to take over. Since Kang only trusts his variants to do the job, one of them needs to do it, so the timeline needs to be split to allow others to exist, war breaks out, all hell breaks loose and eventually one of them wins and puts it all back into place. This can happen over and over again, for all existence. This could be the first iteration of the MCU, or it could be the 700th, we'd never know.

Ravonna said "Only one person gets free will: the one in charge," so when she says she's going "in search of free will" we're supposed to take it to mean either she's going to find the one in charge or become the one in charge. Thing is, she's not acting on her own. Her decision to leave and whatever destination she has planned both come from the information He Who Remains sent her through Miss Minutes. He doesn't seem to have sent her to save his life, so it's possible he sent her to find him somewhere on the timeline. Seemingly implying that he knew he was going to die, despite saying that he no longer knew what was going to happen. It's also not completely clear whether he's actually insane from isolation, or putting on an act. When he takes the Tempad off his hand and places it on the table ("I love all this honesty") the shot lines up so it looks like its placed on his other hand. Because he's still in control. His entire purpose seems to have been to drive them apart. The deal from Miss Minutes was mostly aimed at Loki, causing Sylvie to doubt his loyalty, and he even flat out asks if she can really trust him. Anyway if you think he's evil, just wait until you meet his variants.

This finale will have MASSIVE ramifications for the future of the MCU, not just for Season 2. So hyped
@justbeyondmythoughts3 жыл бұрын
There’s a theory that the reason He Who Remains said “we’ve crossed the threshold” was when Wanda became the Scarlet Witch because it happens at the exact same time in the timeline along with the same time stamp as when it happens in the finale of WandaVision. It would also tie in Agatha saying “you don’t know what you’ve just done.”
@zach19723 жыл бұрын
He Who Remains lived outside of time itself, he died at every moment across the universe, so for example, he died when Wanda was born, when her parents died, when she and vision died, at the end of wandavision and eventually when she will die

My favorite theory out there is Sylvie's Nexus Event, she's a little girl in Asgard. As a Loki she wants to be a Valkyrie, and therefore a hero. When you see her as a little girl, she's playing with toys and one of them is a Valkyrie on a pegasus. And now that you are finished watching, look on KZbin for "WandaVision and Loki Final Episodes Synced"

Classic Loki is the best would love to see him show up in Season 2 somehow. Also Kang (The Variant of He Who Remains and the person you saw at the end as the statue) is great my favourite version of him being from Earth's Mightiest Hero's a show i recommend to everyone one of the best Marvel shows. Loki falling in love with a variant Loki isn't that bad compared to Wanda and Quicksilver falling in love in the Ultimate Universe that shit just makes me cringe every time i look back on the Ultimate Universe. Some stuff i love like Ultimate Spider-Man and of course Miles being introduced in the Ultimate universe but then you got Black Widow and Iron Man making a sex tape and this bullshit with Wanda and Quicksilver being in love and this not forget the awful Ultimatum event where they killed most of the Marvel character's off in over the top brutal ways for the sake of gore. Glad we have both the Earth-616 (Prime Marvel universe) and the Ultimate Universe so creators can take the best from both and leave all the bullshit behind.

The guy at the end is Kang (Kang the Conqueror). In the MCU he makes Thanos look like no threat at all. That's what I love about this series. Such a huuuuuge lead in to the next phase. He is going to be a HUUUUGE bad guy across the subsequent movies. This will be reiterated in Dr. Strange (possibly Spiderman) so people don't "have" to see this series, but the epicness of the ending was incredible. I'm guessing the girl that ran will have a larger part to play in the season 2 but the Kang guy... damn that was a good twist. A lot of people who know comics suspected it but its great they went that way.

I'd say she re-opened up the possibility of access to such realities. Remember Kang ended the multi-universal war, which means before that fight there was a multiverse. He just locked the universe we've been watching into a self contained loop.

There was just sooooooo much information packed into those final two episodes. I enjoy your reactions because I like to hear your thoughts on each episode and I agree with what you said about Loki's finale. I felt that a lot of people were hating on Sylvie because they felt she betrayed Loki but if anyone betrayed anyone it was Loki betrayed Sylvie because she stayed true to her plan. Loki changed his mind after listening to a colorful stranger which mean Loki wasn't dedicated to his cause. If the one that remain (Kang) was telling the truth but it's still from his view point saying his variants are more evil than him when he killed all of them and their universes is like Thanos saying the Avengers are evil after the Infinity War. I get it why most people took Loki's point of view because we are more familiar with him than Sylvie but she was hunted for most of her life and her universe was pruned and just getting 30 minute conversation wouldn't change anyone reasonable mind.

Old Loki and the Thanos-copter, among a few others Easter Eggs, are references to the Silver Age Marvel comics of the 60s & 70s. The same was also true in Wandavision when they're all dressed in their Silver Age Scarlet Witch, Vision, and Quicksilver costumes. And I love it because they're both settings (the end of time and a magical bubble of pure nostalgia) where it'd be appropriate to find the loose ends of abandoned timelines.

Since Loki was adopted by Odin, in the alternate reality that Sylvie was from, she wouldn't even necessarily have been the daughter of the same version of Laufey or might even have been the child of some other frost giant that was the ruler there or another species all together. Kind of makes you wonder exactly what it takes to be a Loki, is it simply being the adopted child of Odin given that name? Was alligator Loki then perhaps simply the pet of a version of Odin?

There's a cool link between the final episode of Loki and Wandavision. If you played both episodes side by side the moment that they allow the multiverse to be created in Loki is the same moment that Wanda hears her kids calling out to her.
