Back in 2013, I was doing a trip around the block from home in Coffs and stopped at the very same shop to replace the rear tyre on my multistrada. All they had in stock to fit was a Bridgestone Battle-axe which was actually a good tyre as it turned out. My trip was only on the black top, so not as exciting as your adventures, but 9,500 km in 18 days was still an epic trip that I will always treasure.

Enjoying the videos. Another sad but interesting fact at the Woomera cemetery from the 1950s is that about one third of the graves are still born babies or only survived a number of hours or days. Government said they died due to no airconditioning at the time...of course nothing to do with the atomic tests carried out around those dates. I was a press photographer and was told to go have a look when I was up there for some rocket launchers in the late 1990s.

Just discovered this channel. Doing a “driveabout” in Australia by car is on my bucket list in the next 18 months. Your road trips are inspiring and definitely foster my desire to come over from the US. Where does one apply for permits to drive through the protected areas? Thanks
@mongreldogproductions2 жыл бұрын
Hi FRG 0125, Welcome to the Channel. Unless you go really remote, generally Permits are not required. Most good Aussie touring maps (Hema is a good brand) show whether Permits are required. They also usually have details on where to obtain them. If not, just do a Google search for something generic like"Permits for Great Central Road" or "Permits for Sandy Blight Junction Road" etc and something should come up. To be honest, not a lot of Folk apply for the Permits. I do, but most don't. 😀

I've not been that way in over 40 years, so my memory is getting a bit scattered! My just now view on Google earth shows Wirrawirralu waterhole just north of Woomera. I have a 30 litre tank (BMW R1200GSA) and on some trips i carry a 6 litre bladder. I can (and did on this trip...stay tuned) travel 750 km with that but it was touch and go. Slowly, but surely, more and more roads are being sealed over an extended period of time. If you are going to 'ride around Australia very soon' and stick to the coastline it is sealed all the way. If you want to venture off the beaten track then there is still an Adventure to be had. Do your research, contact local Councils and start networking with others who have travelled the roads you intend to take. Good luck. Enjoy the ride!

@mongreldogproductions2 жыл бұрын
I find goggles don’t allow any dust in (the eyes). Dust can get into a helmet from under your chin. Goggles are easier to replace than a visor. Visors tend to get scratched after constant cleaning in a dusty environment. Thanks for watching.

Hi DC, you are asking the wrong bloke for an opinion of what a tyre is like "on road tyre"...I only ride the bike on the black top long enough to get to the gravel. Having said that, I was/am impressed with this tyre for off road situations. It has worn well, given good grip on the journey that I did but is noisy on road.
