During 1967 as a 16 year old electrical apprentice one of my first bush jobs together with a tradie was to install a Lister Dunlite generator as Docker River power supply. Over the following years we built bores, water tanks and supply reticulation and a new power station with transmission lines. On your journey to Docker you would've past Lasseter's Cave. I've just subscribed to your presentations and I've thoroughly enjoyed this video. The roads you travelled on I knew them well since I lived in the Alice for 33 years and worked in the bush for 18 years service indigenous communities including the Giles power station. I recall the artwork by Len Beadell on the wall in the kitchen in the weather station.

I remember the GCR to be quite gruelling with vast stretches, arrow straight to the horizon with little elevation change. The change in surface color hint at traction or not, gravel, sand, bulldust etc. Endless. Lost my brother’s (640 Adv) clutch main bearing at Warburton, limped it on into Tjukayirla RH. Following day I rode non stop to Kalgoorlie to arrange repairs at Ray Moore’ M/Cs. A big day. Sad to see the fatal. A terrible event for all concerned. People need to respect where they are and minimise risk… Consequences can be harsh and unfortunately terminal in some cases. RIP.

Horrific accident though :( Your channel is going to help me stay sane during the winter months here, when most of what I can do is plot the next trips and stick to lower elevations to dodge the snow. Here in Portland OR it's basically going to rain semi-continuously until sometime in April/May, and stay close to freezing. And that's just the low altitude stuff. Higher up is more dicey. Good job on helping the stranded guys connect with the kindness of strangers .. perhaps they are not fluent in that?

Im still trying to figure out how the guys wheel-less bike is at the campground and he had to go pick up the wheel at - bumfuck nowhere - out on the road? How does that exactly happen? ps I love checking out the outback without having to sweat or get sunburned. Course I cant exactly smell the roses either, but I visualized the place after hearing Bill Brysons audiobook In a Sunburned Country. (Def ck it out if u havent, From abt 20 yrs ago but still exc.) - and seeing and hearing it through a local is incredible. I love being miles from civilization in various bf nowhere locales but the most Ive been is maybe 50. 200-500k from anybody is a new view for me. Your videos do a great job of bringing people right there. The world minus 17,200 people is missing out...

@@mongreldogproductions - I find most people who get hot under the collar about them usually haven't traveled out there. It's not a big issue - most applications are online. The only real issue I've had are some communities are very specific about the day and duration - which can be a problem when you're planning a few months out, but I've found as long as you've done the right thing and are roughly to plan, you wont get any problems.
