It's a nice idea but tying it to an accessory slot seems like a bit much to me considering how limited those slots are, and you already have stuff like crampons + moose bag to worry about. I'll probably just keep using the mod that lets you customize weight per category (like weapons or clothing only).

Can I make a few creative suggestions for you to consider: 1. Salt/Salt packets---Salt works just like the water purification tablets and turns 1.0 kg of meat into salted meat. Prolongs shelf life by 100% but increases thirst penalty by 100%. Also used in recipes. 2. 'Ruined' meat now loses calories. With the introduction to salt and salted meat, ruined meat now loses calories and the amount depends on difficulty. Pilgrim=0% Voyager=25% Stalker=50% Interloper=75% Salt your meat! 3. Tinder used as fuel. After tinder becomes optional by upgrading the fire skill, how about allowing us to use it as fuel? Make cat tail heads, newsprints, and tinder plugs useful again! Even if it's just 1 to 2 minutes then at least we can use up some of the most abundant resources in the game. 4. Tree resin---A crafting ingredient used to make stronger longer lasting torches. All torches pulled from a fire are no longer random and now only 10%. 5. A bearskin satchel---An accessory that will diminish the 'scent' of up to 5 pieces of meat. Great for taking multiple trips after killing a deer, bear, or a moose. Also useful when traveling between regions or moving food to strategic locations. Thick and heavy. 6. Falconry---A new skill that allows you to build a relationship with the crows. Turn 'fresh guts' into food for the crows and feed them whenever you see them. As the skill progresses, crows will help you find a carcass more efficiently, warn you of coming weather changes, distract a charging wolf, and maybe even bring you a small gift like ammo casings, arrowheads, cat tail stalks, etc. Crows flying overhead will now have a purpose. 7. Mounted sausage press---Turn fresh guts into something edible with the mounted sausage press. Located on only a few countertops throughout Great Bear Island, it's great for areas without fishing huts or cat tails. Needs salt and spices to make. 8. Handheld stun gun---Found in a locked desktop faraday cage in Blackrock Prison, it will instantly end a wolf struggle. With 100% battery power and no way to recharge it, each use will use up 25% of it's charge giving you only 4 uses throughout an entire playthrough. Use wisely. 9. Fishing nets---Works just like the snare, drop your fishing net at a fishing hut and return to see your bounty. Maybe you'll catch 1 to 2 fish, or maybe even an item. Crafted using 16 fishing lines and 8 stones. Requires frequent repairs. 10. Make bears more deadly and harder to kill! In my opinion, once you kill a bear or a moose, it's (mostly) smooth sailing from there. Revolvers no longer cause bears to bleed out. Rifle bleed out is now 24 hours and it requires more shots to kill. Arrow bleed out time is now 12 hours and the distress pistol now only has a small chance for a one shot kill. Hunting bears should always be difficult and they should be completely avoided unless you are prepared. Arrows to the head are your best bet! Don't miss! 11. Alarm Clock---Don't miss an aurora ever again with the alarm clock! Put it by your bed before you sleep and seize the opportunity to explore Great Bear Island every time there is an aurora. 12. More sources of energy--Right now there just isn't many ways to get a boost of energy besides coffee, sleeping, and stims. If I wake up for an unexpected aurora, I need energy to explore. Zap energy bars now give you the same energy as a coffee without the fatigue reduced benefit, and maybe the burdock root can do the same.

I get accessory items are very powerful but I do sometimes wish they were slot specific. Like shoes have a slot for crampons, head has a slot for the ear muffs, and back had a slot for the technical backpack and now the new rifle sling. (But you could have to choose). Things like snowshoes, and new headgear items (maybe a miners hat) could also be added and flesh the accessory items out even more.

Hinterland I support you and The Long Dark is a gem, but I am genuinely upset that most of this new content is locked for interloper players like me. You cannot feasibly ask players to go down to Stalker just to be able to enjoy this content, which seems like a huge addition to survival mode. I think everyone would understand if parts of it are less rewarding or even not accessible, but to withhold the core of this update to interloper seems unfair and also a bit...too easy, there could've been found ways around this. It's one of the first decisions of Hinterland that I cannot understand at all and the majority of the big streamers like Atheenon or Zaknafein will have to drop their difficulty or forego of this entirely. Not cool.

I haven't played since before the winter that's now over , because my feats got wiped and the old saves are getting invalidated so there's no good reason to bother playing until the dlc drops on the store , then there's the update a month ago but they dident feel like getting around to actually putting the dlc in the Microsoft store , so it's playable the framework is there from the update but we just can't have it yet for who knows what reason .

I was so excited, and just over the moon that you've added some story elements. Been so looking forward to this! But then you say they wont be available in Interloper? WHAT? Why not? I find the other difficulties too easy and am very comfortable in Interloper, the challenge makes the game for me. I want to have some objectives to strive for other than simply surviving as that is not too hard for an experienced player. Why would you restrict it to non-interloper? I have a 60 day game save from part 1 that I want to continue. Would custom mode set to interloper work? I don't understand!

I play Interloper/NOGOA/Custom and I don't think it's a poor decision. Adding the baseline bunkers for Loper with the new rollout of how they work was pretty cool (because you can find some empty ones). The story aspect and the loot benefit of the Signal Void mechanic is too counter to the Loper starkness. It aligns with the custom items being in Stalker from the previous update, too.

Imagine lugging batteries around in interloper, for instance. They could easily make the repair parts hard to find and the fact that auroras are involved would drastically raise the stakes for an interloper run. Before the update actually dropped, I was mentally applauding Hinterland for coming up with a tale that would be very risky on interloper.

As person who plays interloper becuse I find other difficultys too easy or not challenging enough I feel left out, yes I will give you that we can visit bunkers now but,leaving out the tale for those who payed for DLC just because they play interloper? I dont agree wtih that at all I think better options should be to leace it because nobody can force you to do it.I still hope for change with feats and custom runs because I think its unfair for someone who playes voyager or piligrim to make progress but someone who plays gunloper dont! I hate lack of veriety on Interloper and yes your guys are doing great job but honestly, not many people play interloper but as one of them I feel left out, you dont have to add spulonkers lanter or new bow we get with dlc but at least you could give us an option to turn it on or off in interloper, we are seeing many updates but we are still stuck at the same place game didnt change for us at all...Please consider listening even a little minority of us that it is there becuse we care for this game as much as you.

@@seajay4194 again…it’s a story. Story mode doesn’t have interloper because the game is “too hard” while also implementing the story. I’m also nearly positive they’ve mentioned certain things won’t be in interloper due to the difficulty more than once before. You can easily make a stalker run if you wanna play the tales. I’m not sure if custom modes work with the tales but if they do just make a custom mode. I understand being upset but there is a reasonable explanation as to why it isn’t available and there’s an extremely easy fix. Being upset and saying you won’t support hinterland anymore isn’t a fix.

Hinterland I have an idea about a new ability that could be implemented called blacksmithing, because I feel that making tools and arrowheads doesn't feel that useful, since when exploring we find many in the world without the need to craft. That is why this ability would serve to make the quality of the object that we manufacture improve as we increase in level and to feel that it really helps to invest time in using the forge

@@Liofa73 a lot of people not playing Interloper isn't a good reason for it to not be included, and I think it's a bit weird for people to say what is frustrating or not to other players. Maybe they want it to be extremely difficult, who are we to judge how others play their games? For example, some people finish Dark Souls at lvl 1 with 0 hits, and it takes them hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of practice, but they do so anyway. 🤷‍♂ in my opinion it should have been included. If it's extremely difficult to complete the tales and may lead to the death of the character, so be it. 👌

Very exciting update. It kinda feels like we will be needing another accesory clothing slot tho, because with the holster,the satchel, the (improvised) crampons and the ear-wrap i want to wear them all.

the wool ear flap is so easily ruined during struggles that I left it behind when crampons were added. now it maybe become a juggling act between crampons in certain regions and rifle holster in others. (no one is prioritizing anything over the satchel - it stays)

@@equestrianrosie well.....if you are willing to give up 1°C of wind protection, you can wear it "under" the satchel.....which has tons of hitpoints and ,if in the outer slot, soaks all the damage, theoreticaly you could substitute it with those new makeshif crampons because those are easier to repair....

I have been following the development of this game since the Kickstarter. Every content update has made the game more complex and beautiful. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the game became more and more familar up to the point where my sense of exploration was fully gone. That’s why I haven’t played the game since the last episode was released. But this gives me a good reason to install the game on my Playstation again. The Long Dark is unlike any other game and I am excited to explore all lthe new contents.

What we need now is just a massive amount of new food items in general A few new types of weapons or addons to current weapons such as mags for the rifle A proper handgun and hunting shotgun The ability to use the revolver and flare gun when using light sources A new flash light that you crank by hand (doesnt produce the extreme beam tho and has half the battery life) Better placement of object mechanics so we can stack items to maximise space efficiency Better maps so we can literally map down road signs and distinctive features the terrain and builds offer so we have more markers to go off of in storms and at night The ability to use item specific furniture such as rifle shelfs and flare gun boxes so we can easily store our LET THERE BE LIGHT gun and sparkle cartridges The ability to reuse cannisters and refilll jerry cans and pill bottles and boxes More types of meds so instead of 1 type of antibiotics we need to hunt down multiple or their alternatives which means more plants and foliage can be added with proper justification More vehicles based around the pleasant valley and Timberwolf mountain plane crashes As to make it clear the world hasn't just ignored great bear rather they have tried and unlike us they didn't survive so more varied speciality supplies such as plane axes and foods More tracking and communication equipment to add onto the tracker so we can use radios, radar and the air traffic avoidance system and weather radar to locate other planes and helicopters as well as get a single days preview to the the weather for the region the crash is in Maps and gps equipment to more accurately judge the chances of the arura As well as the added use of standard cooking facilities so we can use microwaves to heat up airline food during an arura Or create ways of drying and salting meat for long storage as well as the addion of powered meals and snacks More industry such as a ferry terminal and waterfront town that used to connect great bear to the rest of Canada which will come with more lore on how the outside world plans to respond and how its reacting to the events on great bear

You know what? I really did as well. My ultimate dream is for a future tale for survival where you find and nurse another survivor back to health. From then on they go dwell in another cabin in another region. Sometimes when you head over you find them there, maybe cooking up a venison steak, other times you find they've gone out hunting. You can help them get on their feet by bringing them items. Bring them a gun or bow and arrow for instance and the local wolf population for that region falls heavily, though there is less deer to be had.

I just read the May Developer Diary and I just want to say that you guys are doing a phenomenal job. This game is massive so don't beat yourselves up. Whatever you are willing to add to this game, I would gladly pay for it. If you want, you can create a 'public test realm' like Undead Labs does with State of Decay 2. Every time they release an update they first release it in a public test realm where everyone gives them feedback. This way you will be able to fine tune everything before the update is released to everyone.

finally I can wear a hockey jersey in Canada, fighting off a black bear like the Canadian monarchy always intended!! I can´t wait for the next update where you can equip the walking hockey stick to commit spearing on the moose. Equip skates on ice to move faster and use less energy and shoot puck at the rabbits 10/10 game-play aka (powerplay)

I have a suggestion that would make things a little more player friendly and also make the game slightly more realistic. Based on the graphics of the revolver, it appears to be a double action revolver since the hammer is always shown forward. On the simpler single action revolvers, you have to manually pull the hammer back, then you can pull the trigger to fire. On a double action, the trigger can force the hammer back as you pull it, but this makes it harder to actually pull the trigger. In real life, this effect is often utilized as a safety mechanism to help prevent people from accidentally shooting the gun. I understand that it may be difficult to mimic that exactly in a video game, but there is a far easier alternative. Most guns have a manual safety switch that prevents the gun from firing when the trigger is pulled or prevents the trigger from being pulled at all. Many games have ready implemented firearm safeties by simply having players hit a button on the keyboard to toggle the gun firing with a mouse click or not. This would prevent players from accidentally shooting the revolver every time they misclick while still allowing the revolver to be fired from the hip.
