Hands down one of the prettiest games ever. I once stopped by a cliff and looked out over a beautiful view only to get pushed off by a wolf. 10/10 would do it again.

Love the game. Love the community but please for the love of God, give a hand to the modding community so they can further TLD coop. By far one of the best games out there that needs even a shaved down version to make people happy. It's time.

I noticed that many people don’t like how the cougar appears out of nowhere, so I propose this idea. The puma should definitely be distinguished from others as a unique animal and predator that stalks prey. As for behavior: sometimes the sounds of a cat could be heard in the distance (growling, meowing) and you could make animations of it wandering somewhere in the mountains and on rocks not far from the player, but where he cannot reach and harm it (it’s easier to do there , where the player does not walk, and will also create a good impression of a cougar). At the same time, rustling sounds will be suitable when hunting a player without meowing, because she should be invisible and at least not do it loudly. Regarding tracking a cougar on a player, I would add the following: while the player is sleeping, cougar tracks and other things (broken branches?) can sometimes be generated near his roost as a sign that he has marked him as imminent prey. A cougar hunt could start with its model appearing outside a cave (out of the player's line of sight, of course), so it doesn't attack out of nowhere and the only remaining problem is that the cougar should remain a formidable predator that cannot be easily defeated like a wolf having seen in advance. We might have to make her invincible like Old Bear. I think my ideas make sense, I especially would like to see the puma sometimes as a living part of the game world.

Almost 700hrs now. I only play on stalker because i dont like that weapons dont spawn on higher difficulties. Breaks immersion

update idea: add a new mechanic called "tame" which you can tame predators such as bear, wolves and even a cougar by feeding them lots of meat.

yes any update for Nintendo switch players cause we have been waiting on just general free updates for ages now, I don't want to rush you guys because you probably work very hard and I completely respect that but between not being transparent about winter mute or any updates and not communicating to switch players on what specific date they can update or purchase dlc, I am kind of disappointed guys,(and I have read the dev dairies), I love this game so much, and I don't believe in crunch and rushing and working overtime cause you guys have a life but at least just constant specific timeline updates and when we can actually expect stuff to come out

For those looking for the last episode of Wintermute, they've mentioned it during the December 2023 Update, announcing its title, and it's slated for later this year (the latest ETA we've heard from Hinterland so far!)

Some ideas for the Cougar: Make it optional to disable the housecat sounds or turn them into snapping twigs or rustling bushes, and have them spawn in wooded areas or at a logical ambush site about 20-30 feet away so players have a chance to kill/injure them before it mauls you. Make the warning symbols/music optional and add footprints, droppings, or little fur pieces in the area so we know it is nearby. I mean, it's an apex predator that chooses the location of an attack. So why would you unrealistically be attacked by them out of nowhere in an open field?

Perfectionism at its best. Love it(except for the teleporting cougar).

I personally like the cougar mechanic.

My negative feedback always gets deleted in the forum so I‘ll try to exercise my freedom of expression here in this comment: -Misery mode is supposed to be unbeatable I guess, but the Stew food still regenerates 10% health, making the misery mode way too easy by giving you a way to get health back. And I literally found a hunting knife… -The Cougar was okay, removing it was a bit overkill. -Change the loot table of misery mode, make it 100% randomised. By using the Interloper loot tables you can basically rush getting the hammer. The spawn locations should be randomized with no way of finding out where the spawn is beforehand

I love this game. However, the cougar does not feel as immersive as it should be. It is a great animal with a lot of potential, however, it shouldn't just appear out of nowhere. Dear Devs, please, just let us see the cougar before it attacks us. Maybe make the chances of anyone shooting it before it attacks extremely slim (basically zero). About the whole cheating death thingy: I think the "short-term" consequences are just not enough of a consequence.

Hate to say it, not super thrilled with this update. A late-game incredibly difficult region I'll probably never get around to visiting, a hyper niche difficulty for people who think Interloper is too easy (a cool addition, but one I'll never play on), cheat death is cool but with the cougar affliction having been removed this update just feels... empty for me. I'm super excited for what's coming next but I'd be lying if I said the rollout and prompt removal of the cougar doesn't worry me a little bit.

here's an idea.... finish WIntermute I purchased this game years ago and am still waiting so will not be committing to any future game play or purchases until then

my only real request is to make cheat death be toggleable in the settings (NOT in each individual save). i don’t like the fact that it just sits in the back of my mind like “should i try goating up there instead of using the rope? i can always just cheat death anyway..”. it completely changes my attitude towards the gameplay. if i wanted to cheat death i would go play minecraft.

The cougar should spawn in like special infected do in Left4Dead: just out of your line of sight, with a few audio queues to let you know it's there, and you have to be *quick, skilled and a little lucky* or it's on you in a flash.

Nostalgia, the last time the switch port was updated!

I am really disapointed at the lack of progress made with the switch port. I am pretty certain its still on Perilous Constraint while the other platforms have had multiple updates (I havent played in a long time out of frustration). You havent even updated the free content. I've bought this on multiple platforms but feel like you just cashed in quick for the switch port. Can you rename the game on the eshop from The Long Dark to, Green Hell with snow?

I think that the big unmissible ui warning of an encroaching cougar is a little bit out of the game's style, especially when a specific time frame for arrival is provided. I feel like the same information can be conveyed through sound effects and/or afflictions (similar to the ones the darkwalker gives you) without feeling like the immersion is broken. In its current state, these warnings feel less like an animal hunting you and more like an annoying way of forcing players to move around. Making the cougar an animal you hear and feel come closer and find specific in-world warnings of is much better than having a big message saying "it's coming in x days, move now!" I feel like the cougar could be amazing if executed right, but this is just not it.

I dont wanna sound ungrateful or impatient when I ask how the update for the switch is coming. I can only afford to play the switch version as I live on a limited budget and I love it very much, I hope all goes well for the update.

Honestly, my number one cause of death is ADHD, when I accidentally go AFK without pausing for too long...

i love the game for years and hope the updated cougar will be without dumb ui notifications and without instant attacks without a chance to defend ourselves if we're skilled and paying attention. i think the cheat death option is nice to have and as someone who never backs up saves, i can see myself both choosing to cheat death or to just let it be depending on the circumstances, so i appreciate the option.
