Im a 23 year old male and former high school athlete. I ran track, powerlifted, played football, etc all through my years in school form a kid to graduation. Senior year during football I tore my shoulder labrum, and the doctor recommended surgery. For my shoulder I do think surgery was the best move as I couldn’t even bench press at the time without pain. Or throw objects, like footballs or baseballs. I don’t have shoulder pain anymore after rehab, but I only have I would guess around 90-95% of my original range of motion. I play pickup basketball time to time and I’ve been struggling with some pain in my left Achilles. Iv come to the conclusion it’s coming from over composition somewhere and muscle imbalances. I discovered my hips had some weak spots and I had some what of a anterior pelvic tilt from some bad muscle imbalances and a weak neglected core. So I’ve been stretching and practicing yoga and things recently. That’s all been going good and all but that’s not the reason for my comment or why I’m here. About 3 weeks ago I was stretching my lower body and emphasizing good core posture. I was doing a lying band stretch for my hamstrings, and in a freak way my hip has never moved before it gave way and collapsed for a brief moment. It hurt when I did it, but I didn’t think anything more of it. Until the pain lingered for about 3 or 4 days. It’s a very familiar pain, like the pain I was experiencing with my shoulder injury. It only hurt when I do some things like getting out of bed. It’s a slight but very present pain. It’s been 3 weeks since then and the same pain is consistently present. I’ve been really changing my philosophy on how I work out. Doing a lot more prehab stretching kind of workouts. More holistic, like stretching and yoga and less barbell squats. I love being active and worried that it’s not being taken away from me at the age of 23. That’s why I’m here, I hope some of the proactive things you’ve taught me so far can help.

I had excruciating SI joint pain after a fall, couldnt even walk, or run for a month. Then i switched to a carnivore diet like Mikhaela Peterson and quit eating salt. Started supplememnting with 5g vitamin c a day + calcium D 2 grams a day , magnesium, potassium and voila, after 5 days i can now sleep pain free, walk and run again pain free. Its a miracle i was going to call it quits and now i have my life back

Another +1 here. I’ve been looking all over for resources connecting hip pain and mental health. Surprisingly hard to find. Thank you for this.

What happens after torned piece of anterior hip labral taken out via arthroscopy. In future, does the normal movements of hip and femur then give rise to any kind of arthritis, because we don't have labral cution over there anterior part of the hip joint?

Not an expert, but a tear can sometimes be sewn together, or sometimes the surgeon cuts the bad section out and takes a piece of cadaver ligament (tensor fascia lata) to fashion replacement piece to sew in.

dude. i tore my labrum in the gym leg pressing 200kg. its real, confirmed by mri. 15 months later, still hurts. am i better since? yes. has it gone away totally? no. i can do 95% of stuff. there are movements i cannot physically do due to pain, like cross my leg. I've learned to avoid certain movements and exercises.and i now wear socks, tie shoes and get in/out of cars differently.

Hi Maks, I appreciate your videos. Curious if you believe that one can eventually work up to long distance running? I.e. marathon level without pain. I try not to focus on what I know is a labral tear. Curious to hear your thoughts. Cheers

I still don't get how do you they know those are asymptomatic? Is it just based on one day of pain? Are they really actually using the hip and exposing it load. For most people labrum issues cause pain during deep hip flexion with load and are these studies testing that?
@MaksReznik
@MaksReznik Жыл бұрын
The asymptomatic individuals are just volunteers off the street that agreed to get an MRI on their hip. They never had hip pain. Whether in deep flexion or any other movement. Hip pain is always a subjective experience. And to the asymptomatic volunteers in these studies, hip pain has never been a part of their subjective experience. It’s a good question. Hope this response answers it.
