Have had hip labral tears in both hips due to FAI. Presented as glute pain in both cases. Surgery is the only thing that fully fixed it, unfortunately (despite various lengthy PT stints and different workout routines).

@@andrear1693 you’re welcome! I don’t believe focusing on fixing or correcting a torn labrum is the right approach. I recommend focusing on the movement you’re trying to improve instead. If pain is the issue then pain education is key which I discuss in my labral tear videos. Good luck!

I am a 72 year old woman who has suffered with hip pain for many years , and was recently diagnosed with a Labrum hip tear . Surgery was recommended by my Orthopedic Surgeon. The surgery went well and I am , for the first time in years , pain free in that hip ! Part of the recovery is to spend the first 6 weeks as " no weight bearing " , and I am using a wheelchair. When that 6 weeks is up , I'll start several weeks of Physical Therapy . After that , I am hoping to remain pain-free.

Hi Maks, thank you for this video. It may not be what some of us want to see but have to. I have landed on your page after searching "why did my hip pain got better when I started having shoulder pain...". Deep down I knew that suddenly the shoulder was much more important than the hip and I even told myself that I can live with the hip pain just not the shoulder pain. To hear you talk about this made me acknowledge that my deeper thoughts and my own negativity towards the pain or injuries could be something to seriously take note of and work on. I have seen PTs and even an Orthopaedic Surgeon who found nothing on the hip MRI Scan. Then the shoulder started small and gradually became a problem and I have seen a PT, GP, Fascia Massage Specialists and Chiropractor multiple times for the shoulder to no vail. I have seen all these providers including the hip ones this year alone. I also can't even count how many KZbin videos I have watched and adopted the routines regarding hip and shoulder pain relief (even the Huberman clip you inserted). Just yesterday I was crying to my significant other that my shoulder is giving me so much trouble and affecting my outlook on life etc. Then today I decided to run on the treadmill for 30 min and the hip pain came back stronger and suddenly my shoulder was not much of an issue and I was like wait what do we call this? What if I stop being so negative to both these issues because I have been obsessed with whichever is more painful at any given point. I have also never fully trusted the advice and treatments of any of these Specialists or Healthcare providers always saying my pain will never heal.
@MaksReznik
@MaksReznik Ай бұрын
Yes! You're on to something for sure - this is a critical moment for you to really stick with these difficult sensations/emotions and simply watch them. Not run to another KZbin video, specialist or whatever else. Once you weather the storm and the clouds pass, you will get more clarity on what the wisest next step will be. Good luck friend!

This is my struggle, its so hard to not wonder what is happening with my hip. Am i causing more damage by exercising? And will the pain go away if I have surgery or will it be the same
@MaksReznik
@MaksReznik Ай бұрын
It is hard indeed! I can tell you exercise is NOT causing more damage but reassurance from me or anyone can only take you so far. The true epiphanies only happen when you start believing it yourself. This is why addressing the psychological piece is so important - and no amount of exercise will replace this step.

Yes this is a common area of confusion for many. I massively regret my surgery. I'm 11 days post op. I had doubts. But if i cancelled it would have been at least 2/3 years before i could rearrange. I'm in the Uk and the wait is long. I think I've already re-torn my labrum. Or at least something i felt snapped yesterday and now it really hurts even more.

I had a surgery in the UK as well about four years ago, and it's held until now. At first I felt worst, they even had to do a cortisol shot a few months post-op because it was hurting, but eventually it got better and for four years it felt very good (and two pregnancies adding substantial weight on my hips), but now it's screwed again and I'm trying to fix it asap through exercises. I don't want another surgery. it was very invasive, especially with the traction, I almost fainted when I saw what they were doing 😅

@@Lucy-lp9kvYeah, I had a fantastic surgeon who was against general anesthesia for this. So they did a spinal tap, just big needle in the spine with a shit load of drugs and my entire lower half was numb. I begged for a general anesthesia but he told me I'd thank him later 😅 when the four dudes held me down while another was pulling my leg strapped to some medieval torture device and I saw the leg at some super weird angle I told the anesthesiologist I was about to pass out. He said "yep, your pressure just dropped" and he must have given me some good stuff because I was instantly awake again. The surgeon explained the entire procedure to me while he was doing it, it was very interesting. Honestly it felt like I tore it again right after, because it just felt suuuper weird, and extremely tight. But they also do other things like reshape the bone etc. the pain journey was definitely not over right away, it took a few months 😢.

There is hope for you two. Physical therapy looks like such simple meaningless movements but when you go to do them, after a period of time they take effect and it can feel like magic the night and day difference how your hip feels. Speaking through personal experience with a hip labral tear here. Find all the different exercises gradually getting into them rotating through various exercises. Several KZbin channels are quite helpful for this.

Remember the joint when healthy is balanced and has a negative pressure inside it, like a bicycle wheel hub, is not compressed but rather expanded in the joint is suspended like in outer space. The joint does not try to squeeze the cartilage against the bone.

I'm going to give this an honest effort. I've had 20+ physio treatments over the last 6 months, including dry needling, ifc, k-laser. I've been religiously doing my rehab exercises--sometimes I'm 80%, but that's as good as it gets. I haven't walked my dog in months, we just play fetch. The injury is from jiu jitsu and years of being sedentary prior to that. I'm getting an MRI done in the next few months---I might as well try your protocol. I'll provide an update monthly, it's the end of August.
