what about the celeste 100% minimum grabs speedrun that uses a glitch where if the game is left on for over 100 hours it makes some spikes lose their collision, and it goes away after you finish a level so you have to do it multiple times over the course of the run, resulting in a total run time of 476 hours

@Storster Check out the video "The Celeste Speedrun that does Nothing for 472 Hours" by MSushi for a great breakdown of that run :) Pretty sure it's only been done one time just to prove it worked, cause big surprise, no one wants to wait 4 days every level so the category isn't exactly active lmao

Happy to see runescape mentioned on this list. For anyone else curious about runescape records, the fastest hcim max time I believe is 119 days and 7 hours by a player named Oziris.

I'm currently running a 100% speedrun of my life. Gotta say, sometimes I wish there were time saves, but this run is highly optimized. My parents are still on their runs and it's taken them 50+ years each

Arguably, since it features no Metal Gears, and you don't play as Solid Snake, it should be Sahelanthropus Punished V. A great sequel to Shagohod Naked 3.

In a video by EZScape from a few years ago he mentioned that someone completed an 'ultimate ironman' challenge in Runescape in 206 days 13 hours and 37 minutes this is the longest speedrun anyone has ever actually completed and it is officially recognised as a WR. He mentioned one other speedrun in Yu Gi Oh Forbidden Memories that could over 33 years of gameplay but obviously no has (or ever will) complete that.

However, ~472 of those are waiting for a glitch to activate, so you can just go AFK for most of the run. The remaining 4-ish hours feature some difficult tech though! Russia hosted an international event this year, called "Games of the Future" which had various disciplines, including IRL sport ones, esports, drone fights and game speedruns. So speedrunning is officially a type of sport in Russia

Eyyy I’m the one who commented on the original video saying you should include OSRS! I still get replies to it now and then lol. A bit more insight into it - there’s TONS of people who have maxed (gotten all skills to 99) but most people do it slowly over the course of years! The two who submitted times went maximum efficiency and did it as fast as possible!

2 things. 1, there are only 23 skills in Old School RuneScape. RS3 only has 28, so not sure where the 29 number came from. 2, heboxjonge is currently in the middle of a UIM maxcape speedrun, which will end at well over 1000 hours(currently at around 1150, with quite a ways to go). A UIM(ultimate iron man) is a game mode where no items can be traded and banks(item storage) can’t be used. So you can only hold 28 items, as that’s how large your inventory is.

In case you didn’t know. He Box Jonge got his first max cape on his main account, then after that started the max cape speedrun. After he got his 2nd max cape this way, he started his third max cape speedrun, but with ultimate ironman mode enabled… this is what he is doing now.

you never know what the community will come up with unfortunately, it's essentially the same as minecraft all advancements, where you're pacelocked at 1 hour because of phantoms, but if sub 500 hours happens the category could be called 99% or something like that where the 500 hour achievement isn't required

If we're going into theoretical speedruns Yu-Gi-Oh forbidden memories all cards no duping glitch has theoretical time of 18 years and there's games that can't even be calculated, like NMS or other space sims

It's very interesting to see all sorts of speedruns ^-^ I kind of expected Runescape and Pokemon games to have such marathon-like speedruns, but definitely didn't see all the others coming!!!
