Bakura killing Shadi was supposed to be a big reveal in the third act of his original planned Egypt arc, but the entire arc was restructured due to a stint in the hospital that caused him to miss deadlines. This is also where the Zorc/Ahknadin/Bakura retcon comes from.

I think Bakura was meant to be Zorcs vessel but a lot of the millennium RPG arc was shortened from how takahashi originally wanted it. Like Proest Seto was supposedly meant to lead an uprising after Kisara died and his father convinced him Atem was to blame before dying which is why Kaiba was dueling against Atems men in flashbacks Ishizu showd him.

It was always implied that this happened. Bakura was shocked when Marik mentioned Shadi, and his last line of dialogue was implied to be something like "...but I killed him". I believe even the fat Shadi (forget his name) straight up said that Bakura killed Shadi at the start of the last arc.

It wasn't "But i killed him", it was "But he should be dead". Which does not imply, in my opinion at least, that he killed him. And I looked through the Manga for the statement of Bobasa (Big Boys Name), and he didn't say anything about it. But in the Anime Shadi was there and actually said that Bakura destroyed his body. I actually did not remember it before doing this video, but the DSOD Movie confirmed it at least for the Manga, which this video was referencing to!

I am so glad I came across this video. Bakura is my favorite YGO character. But after watching DSOD, There was one thing that always confused me. It was the comparison between the movie and anime of how Bakura obtained the ring. Did his father really buy ir at the bazaar? Or was it after the ring killed his father when he met Shadi? Is only one true and a mistake on the creator's behalf? Or is there a real deep connection for both explanations? I only know a few things about manga version Bakura. So I have this theory in my head that he uses the bazaar story as an excuse to bottle up his real past memories of how he got the ring and the death of his father.

It is because the Movie is a continuation to the Manga, instead of the Anime. In the Manga we got only a sentence about Bakuras Father buying it from an antique shop in egypt. But we never got that visualized. Thats probably why the Anime did it. I also like the explanation that it's something he told and believed himself to forget those past memories, but in the end it can just be a plot point that Kazuki Takahashi wanted to change up a bit. We just don't know. But I really recommend you to read the Manga as a Bakura fan, since we get to see him a lot more in there!

At any rate, I'm still confused about this because in DSoD, it makes it look like Bakura's father was killed by the Ring. But in the manga, it states that Bakura's father owns Domino Museum (presumably bought it after Shadi killed Kanekura).

Gonna be honest, it's been so long since I've read the manga that I actually forgot about this little part. So when I saw the scene between Bakura's dad and Shadi I was confused how this happen since my memories of the anime were more prevalent, now I gotta go back read the manga again. Also, while I don't think I'd call this much of a mystery: but I thought it was kinda interesting that Yugi also has the same powers of the Plana as Sera said that he shared their wavelength or something similar, it's been a while since I've seen the movie too haha

Actually, I think it may have been intentional because remember, Yami Bakura’s end goal is to revive Zorc and destroy the world, which he needs the 7 items back in the sealing stone. Why would he purposefully take 2 items he needs for his end goal when they’re already in the desired location, it’s like carrying your life savings with you everyone, sure you can do it but it’s not necessary when you really only need it in the bank or in a safe location. Plus, considering none of the kids had obtained the scales at that point and Shadi was in no position to bestow the key to anyone else ON TOP of the fact that the tomb is a hidden location not known to many people, he also likely had no reason to fear the kids there or really anyone else taking them. But the biggest reason I don’t think he took them was because simply he doesn’t need to their power. The key is used to see people’s souls and the scale is used to judge people and are both 2 of the 3 items of Justice. Yami Bakura is a grave robber, he doesn’t adhere to Justice, in fact, the only items he actively sought were the eye, rod, and puzzle, aka, the other 2 items of darkness like the ring and the one that rules them both.

Even the anime showed this in the final arc and showed Zorc being released once the Items were placed in the stone tablet. Yami Bakura states this in the DDD arc when Yugi beats Otogi then puts a piece of his soul in the puzzle.

Duel Ljnks answers another question. Manga Pegasus is dead along with a decent amount of side characters but the anime/movies they’re still alive. Duel Links canonically pulls from both worlds so there are characters that are confused as to how Pegasus is alive for the Bonds Beyond Time event in which Paradox goes back in time to kill Pegasus in that event/movie.

I feel like it can be explained with the Meteor Dragon having an ability that destroys the chain, giving it the stat-advantage. I don't feel like it is too relevant of a duel anyways tho, because the movie can't be canon anyhow. It directly contradicts the series it is attached to(mostly because it is never mentioned. Instead, Seto's revengestory remains mostly about the draw he took in EP3, which wouldn't make sense).

My head canon theory is that Kaiba travelling back in time puts him in the past and that way he cannot return to the present so when he loses to Atem he stays his greatest rival and also becomes his advisor in ancient Egypt this would make it so that eventually when Kaiba dies in the past get get reincarnated into the present to live his life over again until he eventually goes back in time reliving the same life over and over again until he decide that there are more important things in life than a children's card game.

Im getting a little bit confused here. In the Yu gi oh anime in the final season we know that Shadi was one of the guardians of the milenium items serving Atem in ancient Egypt 3000 years ago(5000 in the English Dub) he along with the other 5 keepers fights against thief king Bakura and as far as I know that is the logical explanation why they know one another, it has nothing to do with the movie from 2016 and it's continuity and story. Correct me if I'm wrong of course :)

That was not Shadi. It was Shada instead. We had some characters in Ancient Egypt that shared a lot of similarities to the "current time" characters. We have Isis for example, who resembles Ishizu. Priest Seto who resembles Seto Kaiba. Siamun who looks exactly like Yugis Grandpa. And the same goes for Shada who just resembles Shadi a lot. We don't know for sure if it's some kind of reincarnation, like for Priest Seto and Seto Kaiba, but in the end these are two completely different characters! I hope I was able to help you out!

I don't know, Bakura was unpossessed at the start of that scene enough to see Shadi's face, and it was the scenario where his father died so one ought to remember stuff like that.... To me that scene was a weird point in the movie, though I mostly focused on the fact Shadi had grown men forcefully fitting the eye on Pegasus, but now he's all kind and teaching kids? Plus, Yami Bakura killing Shadi in that scene and not taking his or any of the remaining items in that stone (at least the Scale must have still been there since it lacked a host in present day... come to think of it, did it really? weird for 2 items to choose the same host, normally they choose different ones and the transfer of ownership must be earned, be it a Duel, or like Ishizu did with the necklace by relinquishing it to the pharaoh). These parts aren't anime exclusive I think?

The scene where Diva started talking to Bakura made clear that he supressed his memories of that time, since it was that traumatic. That's nothing uncommon with hard traumatizing situations. So him not remembering shouldn't be a problem at all. Pegasus was warned by Shadi do leave the place as soon as he found him. But Pegasus kept following him to the point where he saw someone dying by the Millennium Ring. He saw too much, like Shadi said. The only way to excuse him from doing something like that was to be chosen by the Millennium Items. That's why Shadi put the Eye into him. Either Pegasus will to see his loved one is strong enough to be the chosen one or he will be punished for ignoring Shadis warning. Shadi was a Savage towards adult persons that should know whats right and wrong. But that doesn't go for the kids. The kids he took with him were probably all abused victims he safed. Thats why he lectured them. It makes complete sense character wise to me at least. And yea. I can't find a plausible good answer to the point why Bakura didn't take the Millennium Items. You could say that he was in a state where he couldnt remember what he was or what his goals were before getting "resurrected", but thats nothing we can factually say, if I'm not wrong. So. This is definitely a point that could have been worked with better.

Yami Bakura not being in a state to know is probably one factor, but the other one I would like to point is that Yami Bakura is also really arrogant and wouldn’t care to take them until the final moment. Like sure he needs them bring Zorc back eventually, but at that point he didn’t know the whereabouts of the rod or tanque/necklace and who knows how long the puzzle would have remained incomplete as he returned before Yugi ever completed it. In fact, to Yami Bakura’s knowledge, the ring may have been all he needed in his quest to find the other items as he can do all sorts of magic with it. The Scales are used to judge people and the key sees into people’s mind. Yami Bakura has no use for such abilities nor does it best represent his character so why would he care. Plus again, he doesn’t really care for these things until the final moment. He knows he’ll get his chance when they need the ring so why hunt them himself when other can do it for him.

Considering your last sentence, you have confirmed you watched the anime and not read the source material manga. Bakura's father did not die. He is alive from the start of the manga. In the final arc, which takes place in the Domino Museum (The stone tablet is there which allowed them to enter the memory world), Yami Bakura starts the Yami no RPG with Yami Yugi. YB states that Bakura's father is the owner of the museum. The only dead family members Bakura has are his mother and sister (he continues to write letters to her), which is confirmed in the Gospel of Truth book by Takahashi in late 2002 that covers the manga story to the end of Battle City. Also, Bakura stated in his debut chapter that his "father bought the Ring from an Antique shop in Egypt" and that he's (Bakura) "living alone away from his family". Bakura did not lie even though he didn't fully remember. As you see in the movie, Bakura saw his father enter a temple and tried to buy the Ring with money. Even an older Yugi stated at the start when Yami Yugi took over that he had blank moments in his memory. It wasn't until Death-T that the blank moments stopped as he stated at the end of the chapter. "To me that scene was a weird point in the movie, though I mostly focused on the fact Shadi had grown men forcefully fitting the eye on Pegasus, but now he's all kind and teaching kids?" We'll never know. Don't forget that Yami Yugi entered the Memory World when he had no memory. The day after Bakura attacks, the Priests were having team training to improve their teamwork. Seto was beating the others without working as a team. Yami Yugi challenged Seto to a battle. Yami Yugi owned Seto by summoning Kuriboh and using the Multiply effect and won in order to teach Seto a lesson. This moment was to reference his Duelist Kingdom battle with Kaiba. Kaiba won easily? Do not forget that Atem is Yuugi Ou (Game King), the name of the series. He would not be defeated so easily.

i think the biggest mystery is why no one knows Atem's name. Shadi didnt know it despite having all the millenium items and literally knowing he was the ancient pharoh but didnt know the name of said pharoh. Kind of impossible right? Also yami bakura didnt know or at least didnt say the name of the pharoh and easily could've. i mean its not like doing so would hurt his plan. i also would like to know how Shadi was able to do the whole capsule monsters thing because this happened after all the items were collected so he shouldnt have any magic items with which to bend the reality of space and time with. also, shadi apparently has the power to control the world but instead allows evil people to do evil things. lots of problem with yugioh, thats why we dont think about it. its a cartoon for kids

1. Why should it be impossible? History deleted his name and there were only evidences that Atem is the Pharaoh. It wasn't something Shadi knew from the first looks or something like that. 2. Well. Atem knowing his name literally killed Bakuras plan. So I don't really get this point, sorry. 3. Capsule Monsters was a spin off that doesn't belong to the main series. 4. If you really think that it is just a show for kids, than you probably only saw the dubbed version I guess. The japanese Anime and especially the Manga are nothing I would call to be for kids. But it is just my opinion.

It is more complicated with Bakura since he isn't just the Thief King. He is like an own entity since he is a part of him and part of Zorc aswell. Yami Bakura fits quite well for that since Zorc is like the Darkness personified, which just means Yami. And the Thief Kings Name is also Bakura. I really prefer calling him Yami Bakura, since he is like his own entity.

@KevinTriforce Bakura's father did not die. He is alive from the start of the manga. In the final arc, which takes place in the Domino Museum (The stone tablet is there which allowed them to enter the memory world), Yami Bakura plays the Yami no RPG with Yami Yugi. YB states that Bakura's father is the owner of the museum. The only dead family members Bakura has are his mother and sister (he continues to write letters to her), which is confirmed in the Gospel of Truth book by Takahashi in late 2002 that covers the manga story to the end of Battle City. Also, Bakura stated in his debut chapter that his "father bought the Ring from an Antique shop in Egypt" and that he's (Bakura) "living alone away from his family".

They actually did not keep that name the same either, they made Bakura the first name and Ryou the last name when it is the other way around in JP.(Though the localized materials aren't always consistent about it). Bandit Keith is not a namechange btw, that is his nickname even in japanese.

" hat Bakuras Vater den Ring nicht auf dem Markt gekauft, spaeter als ich DSOD oefter, gesehen hatte dachte ich mir das Bakura zur Verdrängung vllt ne andere Story erzählt. // stimmt, aber das Bakura in Pegasus Schloss das erwähnte. Das zeigt mal wieder was fuer ein Genie Takahashi war. Er hat eins der wenigen langen Mangas die konsistent und komplett logisch in sich aufgebaut sind. Magst du Yami Bakura am Liebsten oder auch den Normalen?

Ich habe alles konsumiert. Manga, Japanischer Anime und Deutscher Anime. Ich kenne also die Originalfassungen von allem so. Und das mit dem gekauften Ring kam halt vom Anime. Auch wenn der Anime großteils eine Adaption vom Manga ist, so ist es ebenfalls auch sein eigenes Werk. Die Zusatzinformationen die wir im Anime bekommen haben nichts direkt mit dem Manga zu tun. Und der DSOD Movie spielt nach der Mangavorlage. Deswegen widerspricht die Story sich da, weil der Anime sich random was erfunden hat, was nichts mit dem Mangageschehen zu tun hat. Und ich stelle jede Bakura Version auf die selbe Stufe. Ich liebe den guten Bakura, aber ich liebe Yami Bakura/Banditenkönig Bakura genauso sehr!

Anime gesehen haben und meinen sie kennen das Original (deswegen die Frage, frueher war es so schwer Leute zu finden, die die Originale (insb. Anime, der Manga war ja in dt. leider auch deutlich weniger populaer) ueberhaupt kennen. (Besonders als damals noch in dt. Noa Arc/Alcatraz das erste Mal liefen) // Bist du dir mit Bakuras Ring sicher? Ich glaube nämlich schon mich sehr stark daran zu erinnern, dass das mit dem Markt auch im Manga war. Findest du es auch so bloed, dass der Anime Bakura soviel aus dem "Friends-squad" rausgenommen hat? Was ist deine liebste Staffel? Und ja ich weiß, dass DSOD nach dem Manga ist. Das wuerde man allein schon an der Atmosphäre und den Charkteren (insbesondere Seto, so durchgedreht war er im jap. Anime nicht) merken. Bin selbst ein "die-hard" yuugiou fan, muss aber eingestehen, dass ich die Dartz/Siegfried/Ägypten/Capsule Monster Staffel nicht mehr in der Ami-fassung gepackt habe. (ich weiß nur, dass Raphael die Duel Disk statt die Totenkoepfe seiner Familie ausgebuddelt hat, das war es aber schon)

@@samojede6776 Oh ja. Wenn man so früh nach Leuten gesucht hat die das original kennen, hat man wohl gut leiden müssen. Ist ja erst so vor 4 Jahren um den dreh erst so wellenhaft hochgekommen das sich Leute auch mal mit dem Original befassen, und selbst das haben die wenigsten bis heute, leider. Und ich habs nochmal nachgecheckt. Tatsächlich wurde es auch im Manga gesagt. Wurde zwar nicht gezeigt, aber halt erzählt. Das hatte ich echt nicht mehr im Kopf. Da gibts dann prinzipiell nur 2 Möglichkeiten. Die Idee wurde ab nem Zeitpunkt abgeändert, oder es liegt daran das Bakura das traumatische Erlebnis so hart verdrängt hat, das er sich selber das Sinnvollste als wahrheit in den Kopf gesetzt hatte. Was halt auch Sinn machen würde wenn sein Vater voll auf dieses Antike Zeug stand und sonst was. Also gut das du mich indirekt dazu gebracht hast es nochmal nachzulesen! Und yes. Ich finds verdammt schade, das sie keine Neuadaption von YGO gemacht hatten, und nur das Duel Monsters Zeug übernehmen wollten. Da spielt Bakura nunmal leider keine Rolle außer mit dazustehen, und mit seinem Ring zu zeigen wo es lang geht. Man hätte ihn wenigstens mehr in die Anime Only Arcs reinhauen können. Bakura im Orichalcos Arc wäre schön gewesen ey xD Und ich kann leider nicht sagen was meine lieblings Staffel ist. Ich liebe das Battle City Finale, den Orichalcos Arc und den letzten Arc so ziemlich gleich sehr.

@@MiruyaYT Das was mich persönlich davon abhält den Manga zu lesen ist dass ich einige nicht so tolle Sachen über die offizielle Lokalisierung gehört habe und es gibt keine "Anime-adaption des Mangas" als alternative. Also bin ich auf dem Zweig der auf Fanübersetzungen wartet und es ist fragwürdig ob die jemals existieren werden.
