Intro 0:10 | Overview 0:53 | Terrain Explaination 1:05 | Finale 5:56 Hello Rollers! The finale has arrived. Will our fellowship succeed in taking down the leader or will the hordes overrun them? Thanks for watching the Showcase and for all your support. Enjoy! Release date is April 18th, 2019 The Lord of the Rings Journeys in Middle-Earth: amzn.to/2TO27XB Clarification: When the app states that you receive damage (always face-up unless stated otherwise), when resolving if a damage card instructs you to flip it down it’s important to note that it’s how you received the damage at the start that matters. This is important when using items like the Travel Garb to negate a facedown damage. In the case above, the Garb couldn’t negate the damage as it was received faceup. The rulebook doesn’t make this crystal clear though, but a future FAQ should clear it up.

Legolas could surely have been more effective had you moved him onto the firepit when you first moved into the lair, leaving the more resilient Aragorn to handle the tokens? Adding pierce to ranged attacks would have made him lethal and avoid some counter-attacks. I know when you're filming there's 1001 other things to worry about though. It was very helpful to watch through the series, and we can all learn from your mistakes - good job on picking up on them, explaining them and rectifying them where possible.

The cloak doesn't prevent you from taking the damage you take around the 15th minute. The damage is Face up, the card just asks you to flip it after revealed, it is not considered face down damage. 36 minute, you already gave the Inspiration token to Aragorn, now you give it a second time, this time to Legolas.

At 58:12 I think you should've prepared undying might and put strider on top. Undying Might adds a success when you discard it for a might test -- such as using your sword! Not to mention that 2 successes instead of 1 means 5 hits instead of 2, making Strider just as useful on top of your deck as in your prepared area. To be honest, I think you prepare Strider way more than you should, as it's generally more valuable on top of the deck unless there's nothing else good worth preparing (but even then it helps to prepare cards with blanks). I'd say you prep "Precise Strike" too much with Legolas too. Also I think you should've prepared Lead the Charge after the second scout so Legolas could attack for free. Of course I realize you're thinking on the spot while making a video so that's pretty impressive. Just some things I couldn't help but point out is all.
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
Hey Issac! Love the strategic suggestions. In some of those cases it may have been best to make those changes. You’re also bang on that playing on camera certainly throws an ‘on your feet’ element to the whole thing. Less time to crunch strategy. Off camera though these thoughts are super valuable. Thanks for watching!

@@RollingSolo Thanks for making these vids! I'm sure it isn't easy to make all those decisions so quickly, but it does make for an enjoyable play-through to watch. And as for strategy, it is possible that the strikes put you over the top for key moments, so there probably isn't a perfect method here, though I like to try and find the best odds. The nice thing about this game is it allows you to play with a lot of different characters, roles, and strategies, which to me makes it look super re-playable. I wonder if you were to replay this, would you play the same characters and/or roles again?

At 1:22 you misplayed. When attacking with legolas you drew 1 success and 3 fate cards. And you didn't spend 1 inspiration to turn in 2 success. So you attacked with 5 with a modified that you chose and the pit modifier that you had to discard 1 card from the test with fate( which you didn't specify). Not sure if if 5 damage with pierce and lethal would suffice but maybe yes.

Good playthrough Adam, looking forward to get this to the table over easter. However i think you are playing the Travel cloak wrong, it says it negates damage suffered facedown. Ordinary damage is suffered face up, and then sometimes they flip facedown. Meaning, it was suffered faceup. Same thing was debated for Mansions of Madness also.
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
Hello T Man! I battled with this during and after as well. The rules don’t make it clear as to the timing. You suffer a faceup damage but flip it down and assign it to your character. So the question becomes at which of the two points is it considered acquired damage. It seems like when you first receive it would makes sense. But it’s certainly not cut and dry. Surprised it wasn’t more clear actually after MoM. Likely something an FAQ will clarify but I’m leaning more towards your line of thought. Although, it makes the cloak much less useful as I think I might have received facedown damage initially once the whole playthrough haha. Hmmm Thanks for watching and your thoughts!

Great video ! I'm really hesitating between this and MoM... I love LOTR but it seems I would quickly be done with the scenario (replayability is real?), whereas MoM has more scenarios one the app plus Valkyrie fan made. What do you think about replayability of both games and tediousness of deck handling in LOTR (each turn...)? Thanks !

Well, first of all: I have absolutely enjoyed this series. Thanks for your effort to present this game in such an engaging way. But sadly I cancelled my preorder for Journey after seeing your videos and some of the reviews from other youtubers. If the game would be made by anyone else than ffg I would have hold onto it. App requirement or not, the buisness model in combination with the high initial price tag is concerning at best. Expansions since day one, optional buys early on and a game that looks incomplete in features to simply sell them later in little boxes is nothing for me. Did it once with Descent 2th edition and was majorly disappointed despite that Descent seems to have more going on with the core box alone. The final nail in the coffin was the reused art of the lcg. I payed about 800 to 1000 bucks for my collection of the lcg already and I will definitely not pay a second time for this time smaller cards. I could understand if a little indie developer is trying to cut corners to get his company up and running but not with a game that comes from an established company with a premium price tag on top. Don't know how much app development and the licence will cost them but it has to be an enormous amount compared to the rest of the game. But despites my skepticism I am pretty sure it will sell well given that it is a lord of the rings product and the huge marketing effort ffg made for the game in advance.

At 16 you said you didn't take damage but I don't think that's correct. You DID suffer a faceup damage, right? That one said it was weary and then to flip back facedown. Well you still took the damage face up initially. I think the cloak only helps when you are instructed to specifically take a FACE DOWN damage.
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
Hey Blake! I’m actually currently looking into that. It’s a valid thing to question. I suffered faceup damage but have to resolve it first before I apply it to my character. So does it change states? That’s my burning question. As it did change states and was applied to me as facedown damage in the end I deemed that I could negate it. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this in an FAQ for clarification. Thanks for watching! :)
@blakecurry38805 жыл бұрын
@@RollingSolo My guess is that the cloak only cares about what sort of damage the App itself is assigning, but not every game follows the same rule structure, so it will be interesting to see what you find out.
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
I debated this in my mind during and after and couldn’t come to a clear conclusion. Although I could see FFG saying to stick with what the app assigns first. But that leads to a bit of confusion when the cards are flipping before actually being place near your hero to count as damage. It gets tricky to determine the ‘when’. Would love to know. I’ll dig into the rules reference later and see if I missed anything.
@rburt35 жыл бұрын
@@RollingSolo I agree this is a little muddy, however I think you "suffer" the damage when its assigned and therefor it counts as being in your player area. Since you've already suffered it face up, flipping it over is just resolving the damage so the cloak wouldn't apply here IMO. People could probably house rule similar to how you have if they want to have a slightly easier time of it though.
@RollingSolo5 жыл бұрын
I’m leaning this way as well. It was an issue in Mansions too but was cleared up. Wasn’t sure if they flip flopped on it with this one. But I’m thinking you guys are right. :)
