So I'm a huge Gollum fan - multiple Gollum figures/statues, multiple pieces of commissioned Gollum art. If I can I'm almost certainly going to try to get artist proofs of all of the Gollum art in the set, all three versions of this Gollum are fantastic. Also ahhhhh, I hadn't seen the commander deck themes and there's a Riders of Rohan deck? Yesssssss. OMG what if they bring back Horsemanship for the Rohan deck, that would be hilarious and amazing.

Ok I’m gonna say I’m haven’t been much of a lord of the rings fan. Don’t get me wrong, I’m familiar with some lord of the rings lore (mainly the shadows of Mordor games cuz they were amazing) but as a magic player, this set is gonna get to watch the lord of the rings and the hobbit films as well as checking out the novels. Yes I know I’m late to the party lol but I’m more science fiction and supernatural than medieval when it comes to the fantasy genre. Mount Doom is definitely my favorite land of this set and it’s gonna be a staple for red black decks for the foreseeable future. I’m definitely gonna try and turn orzhov frodo with that tempt mechanic into a win con with gollum for sure. The precious demands it lol. The sol rings, I want the elven one for elf decks just for the flavor lol why not? As for that one single serialized One Ring? It’ll be worth more than all the black lotuses ever. No way someone is not gonna sell than for anything less than 500k at least. That one card alone would give me the means of paying off my car, buying a house, and taking care of other bills if someone were that willing to shell out that money. Unlikely to happen regardless lol. Sauron is for sure gonna be a deck worth checking out, the grixis commander Precon already peaked my interest. Bring it on. Awesome birthday set for me lol

I didn't really to be this excited for this set, but they really nailed the flavor on all of these. Can't wait to see my boys Merry and Pippin. As for the serialized rings… I have mixed feelings. I appreciate the flavor, but I don't feel good about that kind of tactic, BUT ALSO maybe the price of those cards on the secondary market ignites a new conversation about the reserved list?

That's a very cynical way to look at any attempts at diversity. Unless a character's appearance is vitally important to their narrative, and it's set in a fictional universe where that appearance isn't relevant, there's no reason not to change them.
