Have u played Cosmoteer? Like a blend of FTL and Freelancer. I only got back into it after playing the Prison Architect devs new demo for The Last Starship, because its basically the same game but pretty graphics, completed, open world and fairly exciting in the combat and crew gameplay.

This game did have an infinite mission at the end. I played the crap out of it. Idk how it's unlocked anymore but I think you have to complete the whole game first
