If you work out the muzzle velocity from the scorpion's barrel (longer than known tank today) with it's mass of 90mm shells with it's unknown extremely efficient propellant. It would put our tanks today in shame. It's not the size shell that matters, but what you do with it.

The Forerunners also have far more advanced/powerful weapons than the weapons that can easily kill demons. Forerunner ship weaponry is likely 1000(or more) times stronger than any BFG. And besides, if worst comes to worst, there is the halo array.

I really loved the old MA5B and the M6D. The best alternative to a Doom loadout. Really gorram great. I was always bad at the rocket launcher, so I used the M6D and the MA5B. I did hate the M6C. That's the pistol in Halo 2. Wasn't as powerful. No scope, either.

Some facts and trivia as it relates to the real world: 1:48 The M6D's 12.7x40mm round's case is exactly 7mm longer than the Desert Eagle's 12.7x33mm (.50AE) round, which was the most powerful production handgun cartridge in 2001 when Halo CE released. This is one of Bungie's most obscure 7 references. 3:30 Only half of these rifles fire the same round. SCAR - H: 7.62.51mm (Same as MA5B) FAL: 7.62x51mm (Same as MA5B) BAR: 7.62x63mm (.30-06) SVT-40: 7.62x54mmR The MA5B bears a resemblance to the FN F2000 assault rifle, but that is supposedly a coincidence. The SRS99 series sniper rifles were heavily inspired by the Denel NTW-20, which has a variant chambered in 14.5x114mm. The M41 LAAG is almost a direct copy of the US military's GAU-19, but with half the rate of fire.

I'll give you something, I know there aren't a lot of well versed gun-loving Brits (Maybe except my dad and a few others), but your examination of each weapon is quite detailed! For someone as knowledged as myself in the subject, this kind of speaking is like being an adult and listening to a ten year old talk (gas operated, 900 rounds per minute), but when most people talking about guns talk like 2 year olds (Trigger, "clip", "end of the gun) in the subject, what a refresher that is! All I have to say though, the 7.62x51 NATO is indeed used in the FAL and SCAR, but not in the SVT-40 (7.62x54R) or BAR (7.62x63, more commonly known as .30-06/Thirty-aught-six). Still, doesn't take away from how much work you put into it, and I LOVE that you used real world examples. Oh, and it probably would have been good to mention that the 12.7x40mm the M5D Magnum is chambered in is basically the equivalent of putting a .50 caliber projectile (half an inch in diameter, same thickness as Barrett .50 but not length) in a 7.62x39 (AK47) cartridge case. ;) I have to admit though, most of the gun designs are utter disasters lol. Like the AR having huge spread and bad accuracy, like the whole point of a bullpup is to get more accuracy and less spread with a shorter gun! Or like the DMR from later games, where the gas tube is BELOW the barrel like an M1, thus increasing muzzle flip and general recoil because the barrel axis is higher up. I'd like to talk to the guys at Misriah and beat them over the head with an F2000 so it gets ingrained in their skulls how to do a bullpup right!

The literal point of making a rifle bullpup is to allow for an increased barrel length and thus more accuracy, so why does it spread like a mofo past 10 meters? lmfao game balance is a weird thing. And speaking about the F2000, did you ever hear the funny story about the MA5B and F2000? The artist at Bungie who designed the MA5B (totally forgetting his name rn, my b) never even knew FN created the F2000, it was only when he'd finished the design someone came over and said it looked like one. What a strange coincidence...

Funfact: the Halo CE shotgun is the closest thing you will have in a videogame to shooting a real shotgun. Even though shotties application is mainly close quarters, due to it's highly destructive power, at long range is a very effective weapon. Shame that in Halo 2 it became with less reach than the plasma sword.

6:18 - Which actually makes it one of the most realistic and well done shotguns in the Halo games. Whereas in the sequels that shotgun is just made into a one-hit-kill weapon up to a certain range and then basically starts tickling your enemy (or the shot disappears entirely), real world shotguns using buckshot (especially something as ridiculous as an 8 gauge) can easily send out shot and still be effective out to 100 meters/yards. The only issue at that range is the shot spread opening up, which is why shotguns also have chokes available to help narrow and contain the shot. Most games tend to do a horrible job with shotguns and either don't know any better or do it "for balance reasons." I've yet to see any game handle shotguns and armor effectively. Most body armor is going to be able to handle buckshot (although soft armor without a trauma plate is going to be horrific on you, you'll still survive... usually). Slugs are... well... a different monster altogether. Even if the vest does stop it, soft or with a trauma plate, you might still be killed just by the blunt force trauma. Never underestimate what shotgun slugs are capable of. But, realistically, that means that shotguns should be at a disadvantage against people with body armor, but rarely is that ever the case (and to be fair most submachine guns should be as well, which obviously means most handguns too). So it'd be interesting to see where you have to hit where there isn't any armor. Could be you have to empty your shotgun just to down one person in-game whereas other times you get lucky and have a headshot and drop them with one shot at 75 meters no less. Probably why no developer wants to touch that...

I’d argue the the Halcyons were obsolete. The only reason the Pillar of Autumn was so good is because it was chosen for a mission to attack High Charity and so was given tons of upgrades not found in the original Halcyons. In fact the Pillar of Autumns upgrades are the basis for the UNSCs newest cruiser line, the Autumn class.

Honestly, it can spew copious amounts of lead and damage down a corridor. It's not _meant_ to be the killing blow, true, more of a crowd control/suppressing fire weapon in the sandbox, but it can slaughter just as well as any other automatic. I'd rather have the CE AR over the SMG or later ARs any day for my Halo games, if I have to grab a full-auto human weapon. The precision weapons are better on every front, as the sandbox is built around them in the Bungie games (CE Pistol, 2, 3, and ODST BR, and Reach DMR), but in the situations where they shine the CE AR is my personal favorite of the full-autos.

Just so you know the BAR is not chambered in 7.62. It was actually chambered in 30-06. A much larger round with a much greater kick. This was done so that BAR operators could share ammo with regular riflemen who used the M1 Garand which was also chambered in 30-06.

Sorry for nitpicking here but: the browning automatic rifle was chambered in 30-06 (7.62x63 mm) and the svt 40 was chambered in 7.62x54R ... Both not chambered in 7.62x51 mm. The scar mk17 (scar h/scar heavy) and the fusil automatique leger are correct tho. I know, it's all 7.62 mm but there are differences in the bullets and the powder charges for each caliber. Also different cases. Edit: if you want I can also give you the differences in muzzle velocity and maybe pressure too.

one detail I enjoyed about the Pillar of Autumn is that cortana had chosen it because of its interior design, The fact that is a plasma bolt melted its way through the hull of the ship, they can just shut off the vents and pressure of the room in order to keep going. Basically the pillar of Autumn is a flood combat form, and the covenants plasma is a slug from a sniper rifle, itll go right through and she can still kick. :)

I love how the SPANKr was technically obsolete as of 2552 but was just SO good the UNSC kept it in service well into the post-war period because heavy weapons troopers loved them so much. Much like the old MA37 in Halo: Reach, or the Fairey Swordfish in WWII even "obsolete" weapons can be very useful!

The MA5B is probably my favorite(in campaign as the M6 dominates MP). I love the 7.62 NATO cartridge and a cool little detail only seen in CE and a bit in H2. If you look at the MA being fired in third person(Marine in Campaign, Another Player MP), you can see the bolt open on the rifle as it fires and the spent casing ejects. The same thing is seen on the M90 and the SRS sniper rifle as well. The M6D’s slide can be seen going back as it ejects a round as well. The M6 in H2 and Sniper Rifle can be seen in third person doing the same thing. However, The Battle Rifle does not have an ejection port modeled in H2 and I don’t know if the Shotgun there has the same details. Anyways thanks for reading this :)

Honestly, Halo CE has my favorite versions of all the Halo weapons. The shotgun, 12 rounds with a beautiful smooth surface. The AR with 60 rounds and 900rpm. The Magnum, nuff said. The flamethrower (for PC multiplayer only sadly). The sniper haha no recoil ever, plus it looks good. The NUKE GERNADE. And the rocket which I would say is the only weapon I feel like improved in design in 2 and 3 and in reach, but I like the huge explosive charge of CE. CE just all around has the best weapons. And the 2nd best Warthog only beat out by reach's

Ignited Pyrosene sounds like space napalm 1. Its super sticky just like napalm 2. It burns at extreme temperatures just like napalm and my favorite UNSC weapon is the CE rocket launcher because of how big the explosion and how crisp and smooth the spining of the barrels and the reload is

A couple notes on the sniper rifle- the sabot ("say-bo") it fires is actually a gigantic dart. Hence its ineffectiveness against the flood. Great write up! The M6D is a .50 cal high explosive handgun and rightfully deserves the God-Pistol title lol

7:40 it is apart of the four main rules to any gun, to know your target and what is beyond it. In addition, the M16 used by the us military is very much capable, as are almost all rifles, of ripping through a target with ease. In fact, the military had to incorporate designs to allow the round to tumble or in some way split in order to cause the most amount of damage possible. Hollow Points are a round designed to fan out upon impact in order to prevent over penetration

I have a question and this has been a question I have had for a while, but in halo ce the elite minors and elite sergeants have orange lights on the back of their arms and legs, but the spec op elites and field commander elites have blue spots on their arms and legs. In halo 2 however, this was changed so that all elite classes have orange spots on the back of their arms and legs, is this just a simple design choice or is it a lore based concept(?).

Combat evolved favorite weapon from a gameplay perspective was probably the shotgun. Special mention to the magnum because I’ve fired a 12.7mm handgun before (.50 Action Express is 12.7x33mm when translated to non-moon landing units) and, at least out of a big honking pistol like the desert eagle it really isn’t that bad. As far as my favorite weapon in the series overall, the BR is king, but I also have a soft spot for the AR in any other game where it handles like a rifle instead of an SMG

Pillar of autumn actually had more stuff than you showed. It had specialized equipment for the mission it was going to go on before the battle of reach caused a change in plans. It had been equipped for boarding action, and to carry every spartan the unsc had. There were actually 2 Spartans aboard at alpha halo, however one was in cryogenic storage due to injuries taken during the battle of reach. They were jettisoned in the pod, and master chief recovered them after he blew up the ring.

Dumb fan lore my cousin and I came up with for why the Magnum is so OP in CE but after that just kind of..... meh. The idea is that Captain Key's pistol is specially modified, as on LASO difficulty it can 1 shot a grunt in the head, and that after Halo CE, Chief looses the pistol, which is why in every Halo game after that the pistol/magnum isn't super powerful.

Watching this in August 2020. For a long time, I was confused about MCC's gold skin challenge for the assault rifle, titled "Thanks, Misriah", thinking it was some dated movie reference or something else I wasn't getting. Turns out it's an in-lore weapons manufacture. That explains a lot.

Just to give you a perspective the Magnum is actually chambered in the .500 S&W magnum (12.7x41mm). That cartridge is only used in very large heavy frame revolvers.
