I think that the baby weavers collecting soul is an oversight. As for soul itself, it really reminds me of determination from undertale, with the whole body melting if misused and it being a physical substance, instead of being paranormal

I wouldn’t call it an oversight because that function was introduced in a later patch than the charm itself. Interesting comparison to determination in Undertale, I never would’ve thought of that!

The baby weavers are made from silk. And silk can contain the soul. Similar to due in a web. So it makes sense they can collect soul.

There are higher beings called roots the white lady is a root and roots have the power to focus soul and so she passed that ability down to her kids which is why u as the player can focus soul

A vessel of void alone cannot focus soul. Since it takes a mind to do so. (Though it's possible the knight does have a mind and isn't pure). In the inventory the knight has an item called focus in which spells surround. It's artificial. But it brings up the question. Who gave the knight that artificial focus.

But yes the white lady does have a godly focus. Meaning she can even attune and focus to others. Like the pale kings soul.

The usage of soul is caused by the advancement of the mind. The godseeker's mask description says thoughts are focused through the the crest. And the scholars have a crest on their heads. The whispering root at the mound says spiral focus. And focus involves the mind. The dream nail dialogue of the soul twisters say their mind swells and aches. And the connection between soul and essance is further with a greenpath tablet. It said Unn created life through her dream. Dreams are made from essance and life force is soul, so essance created soul.

Any bug given a mind can focus their soul. It's the crest on the godseekers and scholars that grants them a godly focus. To attune and take mind/soul from others. Though unlike a god, it comes with side effects. And I have theorized before that essence is created from a large amount of soul, but I don't believe so. I think soul and essence are natural things. soul more so. But this soul writhes within the bug. Only when it is granted a mind can the soul be focused and settled.

The spiral focus line describes a soul not focused. This is why spells are dangerous to normal bugs. It warps their soul.

The bugs if greenpath are simply vessels. They're created from moss and leaf. And we already see some plants like the fool eater and the gulka which have evolved into intelligent life. And they do give off soul. To sum it up the moss kin "naturally" evolved. And eventually became intelligent enough to focus their soul. And want to come back to unn to feed him essence.

Silk can contain soul-like dew drops on a web. Much like charms, the souls of others gives them magical abilities. Also the spider totem in the beast den I believe is what extracts soul from beast for these silk spells.

Spas give soul due the lingering dreams of bugs. Due to the knight having a pure focus due to his empty nature, he can only take the soul in which the essence lingered in. Inside his soul vessel is it contained, the essence is destroyed or contained in the void.

Bugs in which can be dream nailed for soul...this is why. (Using the royal retainer as example) In the white palace (a lingering dream realm). These retainers attune to this realm. Creating a cycle of infinite soul. In way, this is the perpetual hallownest the pale king dreamed of. Since knight does not have a mind (which I don't really believe). It must use the dream nail to attune. Gaining a bit of soul with every strike.

We know that the Weavers created spells from silk, I think that means that the silk is soul energy but in more solidified form.

The part of soul that I find most interesting is how bugs that are infected are able to give off soul when hit. This is odd because they are zombies giving off plague juice when struck. While it is possible that the Radiance did use soul to make the infection, such an arcane energy being spread so much in such an unnatural way must have some dire consequences, but it really doesn't. Aside from the bugs being turned into zombies, which was the plague's intended purpose, the infection has no dire side effect.

Soul is said to animate creatures’ bodies, and even though the husks are, well, husks, their bodies still move, so there has to be some soul left in them. The infection may have reanimated them, but soul is still needed to move them

That depends on what the infection actually is. If it originates from the Dream, then it's feasible the soul is coming from the radiance. A fun theory is that the infection is microbes affected by the radiance, so maybe the soul comes from the microbes.
