It stands to reason that those plans were canceled because they went in a different direction making the Injustice series. Injustice is essentially the MK version to compete with Marvel vs Capcom as we got Scorpion as a guest character in Injustice and the Joker in MK11 if I remember correctly 💪🏿🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸✊🏿

Bruce Campbell did a interview talking about why he wasn't in MK and he said something along the lines that he was tired of other non evil dead franchises benefiting off the Ash Williams character and would rather see a stand alone Evil Dead game instead.

I'm not sure that's the reason though. He mentioned multiple times that there was some legal issues getting in the way, implying NRS couldn't negotiate a deal to get Ash in the game.

Funny you mention Ash Because Michael Myers was supposed to be in Mortal Kombat X but was cut and replaced by Leatherface. And iirc, Sweet Tooth was considered but never got further

There's also a Kurtis Stryker that was supposed to appear in the first game, but was dropped to put in Sonya instead. He was later re-tooled into Jax, with his character name given to a completely different character in MK3. There's also the mystery of Kochal. He was said to be a great warrior, and you could complete a quest to awaken him in Deception's Konquest mode--only to get some koins. People have speculated that his name is short for "koin challenge", but that hasn't been confirmed. It does make you wonder if he was truly intended to be a character but was cut after Konquest mode was a bit of a ways in. I've heard that Belokk was cut for a simple reason: he wasn't a Midway character. Instead, that he was created by Eurocom. Also, those shots of him in-game? Those aren't really his moves. He's been obviously used as a skin for Goro there (you can tell especially with the shot of him pounding on the opponent in front of him--it's a move from Goro where he grabs them with his bottom hands and wails on them, which is very Goro). This could also be why Baphomet was scrapped, if Belokk was truly a Eurocom character--they may have realized they unconsciously made him look too much like Belokk and just scrapped the character entirely rather than go through the effort of redesigning (or a retool could have caused them to abandon the elder demons aspect and instead that may have made them go with Drahmin--sure, they look basically nothing alike, but it's a possibility). Also interesting are other things, like cut enemies from games (like the Netherrealm Hound in Mythologies), possibly cut interactions (in-game there's apparently a rumor in DA that if you tie in the Drum Arena, you'll be challenged by the character of Konga--what if this is reference to an abandoned fight and unlockable? Konga is still in the background of that stage, though as he's one of the drummers), and also things like cut weapons (leaf blades, monk staff, and wind staff coming to mind).

You didn’t mention how the Xbox 360 version of MK 2011 was meant to have an exclusive guest but got cut for time constraints and that it was heavily believed to have been Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. Personally I would have been open to this.

I really like the idea and the lore of that male vampire Kahil Grigesh. Would be very nice to explore their realm of Vaeternus. Same for other realms like Osh-Tekk, Arnyek Islands, and so on and how unique they are from the realms we already know like Outworld. Not this dumb multiverse/timeline and Hourglass(es) nonsense that just takes away from the concept of how dimensions work in Mortal Kombat.

Not necessarily a scrapped character, but in MKDA, Raiden's ending shows what I believe is a beta design for the Dragon King Onaga. Though it could still be a cannon design seeing as that body exists separately from Onaga's actual dragon form as a corpse, as shown in Sindel's ending in Deception

I really want to see Skarlet,Jade,Harumi and Kabal along with Kano,Sonya and Hotaru playable in the game being the last characters in the game and if I were to add the extras playable characters maybe Would be Nightwolf and Eeron Black too l hopefully that all these characters will come in the future in the next dlcs and be the last playable characters in the game 🤔🥺🤧🙏🙏 like and bye!

I have a hard time believing that Ash was removed due to licensing issues, since Poker Night 2 and Dead by Daylight were both able to use him despite being from smaller studios, and the Evil Dead assymetric game was able to use elements from the entire franchise! Hell, it's even more ridiculous in hindsight, since MK1 was able to get the rights to Ghostface from both Dimension AND Fun World (something that even DbD failed at), so this just reeks of shadiness.

Then what are they waiting for they have a brand new timeline to bring some of these or most of the fighters into the lore and roster of the series. We have always wanted brand new characters to keep the lore and series alive so now they can go through the cancelled list and start brining these fighters back I think secret fights would work and then DLC. I will always prefer Ash over leatherface and I know it will be a big task but there has to be someway to get Bruce Campbell to agree to let MK use his main character. Hopfully this time the devs will listen to us and make the roster in MK2 bigger and with some of these fighters.

Netherrealm have absolutely no idea how to develop new characters. The fact that all of the cut characters are objectively better than fleshed out characters that we’ve gotten since X…heartbreaking Not even trying to introduce new characters in MK1 was a huge mistake and set the franchise back 10 years, but I guess they at least were aware of the fact they were creatively bankrupt.

more I look into the Evil Dead Series it's all a Mess and it most likely due to the IP Rights being owned by three Studios and if one says yes but one says no it can make things very complicated to make deals with them.
