NOTE: I originally included the leaked concept art in this video before deciding against it and deleting it. In doing so, I accidentally removed some official artwork that was not part of the leak, such as the Battle Subway painting. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until comments started coming in about their absence. Most of these paintings can be found online with some simple sleuthing!

Now that it is mentioned, I do find it odd how S/V doesn’t have a museum proper considering how much emphasis the games put on the history and lore of the region.

The reason there's no museum (or many other insides of buildings) is because they wanted to avoid long load times from walking in and out of buildings

I always thought it'd be cool to have a "trainer museum", like a sports museum chronicling historically important players, except with past trainers. Have a collection of at least one gym badge from every region, with plaques sharing factoids about each one. For example, stuff like "this badge was given out by Juan, before he was replaced by his apprentice Wallace. Juan returned to the position when Wallace became Champion". Or "this badge is given out by Pryce, who has had the longest tenure of any gym leader at 65 years". Cute references like that. Also have a few references to past champions/protagonists, like an unoccupied Rotom Pokedex or a Mega Ring. Maybe even a gift shop that sells clothing like a replica of Lance's cloak or Red's hat. They could even include stuff from side games, like the Snag Machine from Colosseum or a Capture Stylus from Ranger. Unfortunately, I think Galar would have been the best opportunity to do something like this, with the whole sports theme... They could have sold collectable league cards of old characters, like a pack of baseball cards. That would've been sick.
@thesludgeking
@thesludgeking 15 күн бұрын
That would have been awesome! Wow, I hope they do something like this if a game takes place in the far future. Maybe recency is what would keep them from doing something like this.

I’m not usually a “BUHHHH POKÉMON IS TERRIBLE NOW” kind of person, I generally don’t say stuff like this, but I do think small details like this missing from new games is evidence that there is just not the same level of care put into the recent games as there once was. Pokémon worlds feel less and less like WORLDS, and it’s a bummer.
@thesludgeking

The concept art reflects that they are coming up with details like this still, they just aren't making it into the final product for one reason or another.

The descriptions of multiple power plants in Kalos in a row makes me realize I really want a Pokemon technology museum. And/or a video about all the different types of power used throughout the games. There's an interesting blend of realism and 'it just works' in there.

Pokemon technology will never be explained. They have flexible and growing metal and all kinds of things that just cannot work. You have to remember the movies or rewatch them, like how they set up the circus in jirachis movie, or the contraptions in manaphy and giratina movies. Even just how the movie 2000 caught the birds, it's all insanely bizarre

Museums are so cool in pokemon, as well as the libraries. Learning more about the world, legends, ecosystems, and the like really help flesh out the worldbuilding in any piece of media, but especially for a world as immersive as pokemon. I know I am incredibly biased because I work at a wildlife museum (CAS) but I really think they should be a mainstay of the series.

Oreburgh city is my favorite location in the Pokémon franchise. The museum is very empty and it is unfortunate, but I like to think it's because so much of the stuff you'd find in that museum can easily be seen by the average sinnoh local without needing to go there. The town itself is a museum for the mines, you can go there, see tee machines in action every day. Fossils arnt on display because the underground is accessible by nearly anyone. If you want to see a fossil, ask little Timmy next door he has a collection. The museum having a massive slab of coal makes sense. You can only see that one single slab in Oreburgh, and they're not keeping that in the mines. I do kinda wish there were a separate museum for ancient sinnoh tho. With the knowledge we have on Hisui, there would be a fantastic reason to have a museum with cultural history. Would have been really nice if bdsp were like any other remake.

@@CorvodaPop what i like about the oreburgh museum is that it feels like the sort of mini-museums that you'd find in a small town that has a very minor tourist "thing". for example, in west virginia, there's a little museum for a radio telescope, a little museum for a bridge, a little museum for some specific immigrants in some specific little town... that's sort of the vibe i'm getting there.

9:16 - Is it possible that this giant stone Poké Ball is a subtle nod to the anime? The episode "Claydol Big and Tall" is centered around a giant Claydol who has to be caught in a giant Poké Ball made of stone. ❤ Or if the stone ball was also there in the original RSE, maybe the anime is the one that was referencing the game.

9:20 You have to do some stretching around, but it doesn’t have to be too complicated. Legends Arceus takes place around the 1850s-early 1900s, with how much it takes from the Meiji restoration. The Pokéball in that game aren’t the modern model that gets invented later on, and it’s stated that people in Kanto can already tame pokémon by the time of PLA, so some older form of Apricorn Pokeball likely existed. Then, the modern Pokéball was invented in 1925, which isn’t that far from PLA, and weren’t exported outside of Japan to Unova until after Drayden’s childhood. I doubt he’d know about a Japanese tech invention as a kid. The Pokéball shape has definitely been used over and over in the world before they were properly invented, so it’s a bit of an egg and chicken situation, since things as old as the Ruinous Beasts’ seals look like them, but their modern-ish timeline is kind of consistent.

When I was young and first got BW I thought the museum in those games with the Dragonite and the Cubone clubs etc, and the lack of any older Pokémon in the wild before a couple in the post game meant that those games were set far in the future compared to the previous games

I know its not likely, and some people probably would say its too far, but if I were to remake Unova I'd redo nacrene to be reminiscent of the Fairbanks museum in St. Johnsburry VT. It started out as a private collection then became a museum. It'd be a nice vibe how it maybe was just Lenora's then became its own thing.

"I happy when Pokémon games have actual science lessons in them." Meanwhile, many PokéDex entries have nonsensical logic and things that contradict commonly known scientific facts or societal behavior like not understanding how black holes actually work, how lught in the ocean works, not tabooing certain Pokémon due to how much a threat they are to humanity with Ultra Beasts being the only ones treated this way, etc. My headcanon, because I refuse to accept that everyone in Pokémon is this stupid, for the PokéDex that kids get the exaggerated and the brief text on Pokémon that is both factual and fictional with its information. Take the entry about Gardevoir using its immense Psychic powers as a last result to protect its trainer by creating a black hole. Now, even a tiny black hole with a central mass the size of a penny is enough to due unimaginable destruction. I think many PokéDex entries are hyperboles to warn kids against due certain things like don't stick your hand inside living sand castles, never put yourself in a situation that makes your Gardevoir try desperately to save you, and don't attempt touching certain Pokémon or you'll get hurt. I say this my headcanon because you can never convince me that someone at Game Freak actually fact-checks what they write in the PokéDex.
