Actually the best video I've seen yet about the subject, including high budget "documentaries" that I now see are extremely light on context. Great work.

This was awesome. Thanks so much Scott and Allen! I became interested in this just a few short years ago due to my lastname being mentioned as a surname of the "Lost Colony". I really loved learning all this history. Excellent presentation!

Thanks for this prese. I appreciate all your hard work, Scott, and thanks to the Hampton History Museum! My folks have lived on Roanoke Island since the 1600s, and I'm always interested in the history of this whole area.

I met Scott Dawson last weekend at an author's conference. Very cool and knowledgeable dude. I love the children's book. It's very educational and has some Croatan words. I'm Portuguese/ Croatan descendant whose ancestors got pushed to the Piedmont and the foothills of western NC. The English are always talked about, but what about the Portuguese, Moors, Arabs, Jews, and Croatian the are said to have come over with Francis Drake? Alot of Melungeons and some of the Lumbee also claim Portuguese ancestry.

Saw the Lost Colony play every year on vacation in the 70's. Always wondered what happened to them. Now I know the rest of the story.🙂

I appreciate the accurate truth, this is valuable information for all Americian History classes. Some of what you presented is new and will definitely paint a different perspective for history books, teachers and students of the past.

Will you furnish the source of Columbus' letter to Ferdinand, Scott? I remember reading many journals of Columbus' previously...but saw the opposite of what you mention here.

There have been genetic studies that suggest English DNA is present among the descendants of the Native American populations on Hatteras Island, formerly known as Croatoan Island. These findings are part of ongoing research into the fate of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, the English settlers who disappeared in the late 16th century.Researchers have analyzed DNA from modern-day residents of Hatteras Island, as well as historical records and archaeological evidence. Some of these studies suggest a potential link between the Lost Colony settlers and the Croatoan people, who may have integrated the English settlers into their community.

Textbooks get a lot of things wrong. Keep up the fight by discussing and teaching people to hone some common sense skills to evaluate what must be true and most likely happened. I think that people gain an appreciation that way and have more respect for life and history.

Artifacts from 11,000 B.C. Proves there was no Noah's flood of the "whole" earth.
@zgarrett143 жыл бұрын
How does that prove there wasn't a flood? I think your logic is flawed. There could be people before a flood event and those people could leave artifacts and die. A year later or many years later, a huge flood event could happen and those artifacts could become buried or remain buried depending on their status at time of flood. Things are buried would most likely stay buried until the waters receded at which point the receding waters could wash some up and leave some buried buried depending on topography and soil stability. So I don't see your point, what is it?
@mollybrownuptown58493 жыл бұрын
@@zgarrett14 The very very old artifacts we have from so long ago would have been destroyed by the flood - they are delicate. But okay forget that part. Just think about this. Noah's family had to inbreed. If they were the only people on the earth, and all from them are inbred, we would have died out long ago, scientists have said.
