@@Nu_Merick see, maybe I'm not immersed enough at times, I'm excited for the sequel. I believe the next level of horror is coming with unreal engine 5 and VR. Jump scares aren't the answer, it's been done in almost every way that it's not shocking. When Dead Space came out back in the day it blew my mind. You would turn around believing that obviously a necromorph will pop out of the vent behind me, meanwhile, when you turned around the monster would pop out of a vent, in what is now, behind you. The next level is realism. Hopefully that game, ILL, is actually real and comes out one day.

Not a single one of these got me, but I still thought it was incredibly impressive for a 13-year-old kid to have made. 1:35 Narrow passages similar to this were quite common in old manors and wealthy estates. They were used to allow servants to move around the building and go to and from various rooms or areas without travelling down the main hallways. These passages were quite extensive, even including secret stairs behind the larger, grander staircases used by the wealthy lords and ladies. This was all done so that the servants could perform their duties, while at the same time being as out of the way and out of sight as much as possible.

Thank you for answering this so I don't feel the need to. But yeah old houses had this a lot, though the servant thing kind of what's limited to certain geographical areas. It was more of a practicality and space utilization thing as well as load-bearing wall structure thing in old structures in areas where people didn't have servants. I could always tell when a house is a little over 100 years old based on the really narrow hallways, actually it might be close to around 120 years old now. Gosh darn it ended up adding to the conversation and I just meant to say thanks for making it so I didn't have to.

@@BrandenoidDestroyer Like the other guy said, you need a game engine to start with and assets to use. Engines like Unity and Unreal have stores where you can buy or get assets for free if you have no 3d modelling knowledge, and I don't know if Godot does, but I do know that it's a free and open source engine. I recommend looking up some tutorials on KZbin about how to work with some of the engines to see what you're getting yourself into. A credenza is a wide, low to the ground, shallow dining room sideboard with several storage cabinets, typically with no legs, and a polished top which can be used as a buffet table. In the Middle Ages, it was customary for members of noble families to have a servant taste their food before it was served to ensure it didn't contain poison. The tasting was done at a dining room sideboard buffet table. This table would eventually be referred to as the credenza, which is Italian for "confidence", as they wanted to be confident that they weren't being poisoned by their enemies.

I’ve had a similar idea to what mark mentioned at the beginning of the video. It’s just an idea, though. I’m not a game developer. Anyway, I thought about a wakeup sequence where you calmly sit up in bed. It’s day outside and the sunshine hitting the white curtains on your windows lights your room up nicely. You take the covers off of you and slide over to the edge of the bed. You look to your left and see a bottle of pills and are prompted to take them. You pick up the bottle and suddenly, an explosion shatters the silence and sends you tumbling outside of your home on and onto the street a story below. Your head is spinning, your vision is blurry, and you’re injured, but you manage to catch a brief glimpse of the monster that did this. You see they are preparing to attack again. You muster up the strength to get up and a chase sequence begins. You run through the streets, only now realizing that the world has gone to hell. Abandoned cars, dead bodies, and debris from destroyed buildings crowd the street and cut off some paths. You narrowly avoid attack after attack before finding shelter in some creepy abandoned place. Maybe a sewer or an abandoned building. From this point forward, a more or less traditional horror experience can begin. I just thought this would be a different intro to horror games. Most horror games start off slow and slowly build tension. There’s nothing wrong with that approach but I think it would be cool to see something like this in a horror game.

I think you nailed it on the head with the gurney thing. I don't think people think about it, they just know it's been used in horror before. I don't know which horror game made it a common horror trope, but games like Silent Hill and Alan Wake used them allot because it was symbolic of the plot.
