Thanks for the message. I also get a daily meditation from Richard Rohr and this week, as is often the case, you are in agreement about what is wrong with much of "the church". Today he said "It seems the more we talk about Jesus, the less time we have to do what he said." Nmultis.

I had stopped calling myself Christian because I didn't want to be associated with the Christians who hate. I thought being a Christian meant love not hate so distanced myself from it. God led me to Rev Ed and the CWW and I am now proudly calling myself Christian again. I have really been feeling God's hand in my life recently and I finally feel that I'm headed in the right direction.

If Ed Trevors is the best Christians have to offer, then Christians do not have a chance at acting as a light to the world. Ed’s gone soft when it comes to calling out hypocrisy and speaking truth to power. Despite Ed having a large platform, at most, Ed’s enemies see him as nothing more than an annoyance who does nothing to threaten the status quo. You should look at what Bishop Mar Mari has done. The trials he has gone through are quite inspiring.

Our proclamation should not be a vocal one but one of action. God's glory is made evident in the behavior of those who praise and glorify God by acting on the God's ordinances of compassion, justice, mercy, community, and love.

It seems to me as if many christian nationalists are looking for a message that tells them its ok to "other" and hurt people who dont think exactly as they do. As it seems to be within way too many denominations. Hate has indeed become the message. Not the love that is the whole point of existence. God IS love. That's what we need must share!

As a spiritual seeker who loves the teachings of Jesus, yet as an adult, has never felt comfortable identifying as a Christian, I am increasingly thinking that "The Church" has sold out to materialism. It's not just "keeping up with the Joneses," drugs/alcohol, sex, or the gluttonous grasping for wealth/power, it's the addiction to one's political beliefs, religious affiliation, and even favorite sports teams. We are into everything outside of an inner relationship with our loving Higher Power. All that "stuff" prevents us from knowing our oneness, and nurturing intimate relationships with others - from living lives of selfless service to one another. There is a path, in fact, there are a few good ones. There is an excellent book called "Breathing Underwater" by Richard Rohr and the 12 Step programs of CoDA and ACA which I've found very helpful. No one's gonna save us. We gotta do it with like-minded fellow travelers. Peace and love.

I am an atheist, but I find plenty to good things in The New Testament. However, now all I hear is Old Testament fire-and-brimstone damnation for what I am and what I believe. Were I in a Christian Church like this, I would leave. If Christians are truly Christians, they need to do more to promote the good parts that Jesus taught and speak less about the vengeance of God. "Love Thy Neighbor" is universal.

GOD has no ego with which to receive praise. But we anthropomorphize GOD, in our insanity, projecting our selfish human egos ("satan") onto GOD. The only way to serve GOD is to serve others, as JC shows us how to do. Elijah has returned in these "end times," as prophesied, and testifies.

There is some shade of that tree. If you have given of yourself you have spread good karma. That karma blooms and spreads. If you are a taker, or a greedy sort, you have crapped on the karmic wheel and it spreads out for others to deal with. The salvation of others is the path to your salvation. You can't cheat God here. There is no hope of salvation in a con.

@davidford69416 сағат бұрын
My friend Hanna was a Palestinian Christian. So of course he grew up in a very Muslim society. He was also a significant scholar, with a PhD from Harvard. His take on what makes Christianity different from the other religions is that Christianity is the only one that worships a loser. And when you look at his life and his death, that is easy to see. But when the church made its bargain with the powers that be, Christ was transformed into a king. God was a king. So instead of worshiping a loser, most of the focus was on praising and glorifying a Lord. There is no evidence that Jesus wanted this, rather the exact opposite. This king was very judgemental. In fact, even though you may have lived an entirely blameless life, there was a possibility that He would send you to eternal torment if you had somehow displeased him. I don't think there is any hope for the church until it puts behind it this era of worshiping the Lord, and concentrating on the vaguely defined rewards, and the much more vivid punishments, that this Lord may enact. The church needs to move on, and back, to worshiping the loser who represents us all, who loved us, wants us to love him, and to love one another.

In my opinion, the fundamental flaw lies in a certain type of attitude. What is corrupted is the idea that someone is morally superior when they control the sins of others. Achieving God's sympathy through forced evangelization, regardless of its absurd ineffectiveness. Faith cannot be forced upon anyone. Does God save preferably those who consider themselves inspectors of other people's sins?
@FightingForFacts707417 сағат бұрын
I believe God wants us to be cognizant of our own shortcomings, and then we can use our efforts to help others with similar issues. Good examples of this are found in 12Step programs, such as AA. Matthew “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Any action that is Christ-like is a proclamation of God's love. Sometimes those actions are apprciated and people's ears are opened - that is the time to proclaim. Preach the Gospel by first making people want to hear it. 1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

As in ANY human enterprise, sooner or later the original message will be corrupted and, sometimes, utterly discarded. This has happened in completely secular institutions, and it's happening in the American Christian church. I am of the opinion that it needs to happen, to prepare for a rebirth of something closer to the original gospel message. This may sound unsympathetic, but we have these upheavals every few centuries, and we're due for another. Truth is still distinguishable from falsehood, and we must pray for people to be able to do so, because there's a lot of fakery out there now. Amen

If you have to tell me how great your god is, it isn’t. The proof is in the pudding, not in talking about it. If your god brings prosperity, it shouldn’t require me to cast myself into poverty, hunger or homelessness to get it. That is the key failing of the “prosperity gospel”. The pastors want you to live an ascetic life while not doing it themselves, which proves it is false. “You shall know them by their acts” seems pretty clear-cut, if you ask me.

Patience is a thing of the past. For the younger generation, everything they need is in front of them in an instance via a tiny computer (cell phone). The question is what do we live for?
