actually the majority of books from the library of alexandria actually weren't lost! most books there were loans and copies, so most of them survived elsewhere. also, while the library caught fire a few times during war, and some parts were destroyed, it *wasn't* burned down in a one time event; it declined in attendance and funding over the centuries until it became abandoned. its was started around 265 BC and lasted until the mid-260s AD, with its membership beginning to decline in the 140s BC (don't sweat including it though, this is a super common misconception! if its any consolation, there are a lot of books that were in the library that we eventually lost

If you ask me, lost media and cancelled media should be distinct from each other, especially when it's debatable if the cancelled media was ever even made beyond the planning stages in the first place. While it's true that Metroid Dread was discussed by Nintendo for nearly two decades, there is basically no proof of its existence of a game that was really in development until the more recent Switch release from Mercury Steam. No concept art, no plot summaries, no dev builds, nothing. Something can't be lost media if it never existed in the first place.

There’s actually a obscure piece of lost media featuring Olivia Newton John called Moods of Love. She hosted the show on the BBC1 from June 25th to July 15th 1974 for only four episodes. This is interesting to me since she covered songs on the show that were not on her albums. Poetry was also read in between songs too. The reason the show only lasted four episodes is that Olivia’s career began to take off in the USA at that time. All of the video footage on the BBC master tapes except a performance of ‘Nevertheless’ are wiped unfortunately. There are audio clips from fans, but they are in terrible quality. Hopefully, some fans would have a tele-recording or more, but it’s extremely rare to do so. My personal favorite cover performance from the audio cassette tapes is a cover of Don McLean’s Vincent (Starry Starry Night). Hopefully we will find video footage someday in memory of Olivia. RIP

The Eurovision Song Contest first took place in 1956, and has taken place every year (except 2020). However, there are 2 contests that are almost lost entirely in the form of video. The 1956 contest was held in Lugano, Switzerland, and was presented by Swiss commentator and presenter, Lohengrin Filipello. 7 countries competed with 2 songs per country, meaning 14 songs competed that night. The winning song was “Refrain” by Lys Assia who competed for Switzerland. Not much else is known, including the remaining scores, how it became lost, or if it still exists. Fortunately, most of the audio still exists, with the second interval act during the voting being missing, and a 7 minutes clip of newsreel footage of the winners reprise can be found, as well as a couple of photos. We do know that it was aired both on television and radio, with most people owning a radio, as TV sets were quite rare back then. The 1964 contest was held in Copenhagen, Denmark with 16 countries, and hosted by Lotte Wæver. The winning song was “Non ho l’eta” by Gigliola Cinquetti who competed for Italy. The reason why this is lost, is because the country’s organizing broadcaster, Danmarks Radio (DR) did not save any footage from 1962-1966, which includes the contest. Once again, most of the audio can be found online, but with the winner declaration, reprise, and end of the show being missing. We also have 3 minutes of newsreel footage, 3 minutes of the actual broadcast, and 200+ photos. I’m currently searching for lost media of this event, and have even found some good findings, such as a behind the scenes clip from 1956, and new photos. I have a Discord server that’s dedicated to finding lost media from this event, and we’ve concluded that our highest hopes for broadcasters that might still have a copy of one or both shows are ORF (Austrian broadcaster), RAI (Italian broadcaster), SVT (Swedish broadcaster), RTL (Luxembourgish broadcaster), and RTP (Portuguese broadcaster). Someone in the server can actually contact these broadcasters via eMail. However, it’s also important to note that I managed to contact a Dutch researcher for ESC, who has a copy of the first half of the Dutch commentary of the 1964 contest, however, it cuts off in Yugoslavia’s introduction. The following broadcasters that we had high hopes for have confirmed they don’t have the contests. - ORF (one of our biggest hopes, as they have a huge library of content) - Maybe RTP (their response to someone’s request for a possible 1964 tape is vague) Here are the current statuses in the shortlisted broadcasters. - RAI: User JohnnyMix contacted RAI, and they responded in several libraries in Italy in where they might have a copy. As of now, there are 19 libraries left that might have a copy, or even anything new from the lost contests. - RTP: While someone got a response from them after asking if they had a copy, RTP’s response was very vague, to the point where it was difficult to know if they had it or not.

Hey, this is the first video of yours I have watched, about the lost doctor who episodes I think I can provide more context, the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) was famous for recording over old reels to save money, and sometimes just throwing them out, people would just go into the archives, choose a random reel and just record over it, without checking what it was, and this happened with doctor who many times and I believe one of the old reels was found in Africa somewhere but I’m not sure about that.
@mushroomwings3236 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, and the BBC wasn't the only company practicing that back then! They just happen to be one of if not the best known example of it. And yes, enough episodes were found in Nigeria (a country in West Africa, but Africa nonetheless) in 2013 to complete the serials The Enemy of the World and almost complete the following serial The Web of Fear. Ten episodes were found, but only nine were ultimately returned to the BBC. If I'm remembering right I think one of them went missing again somewhere between Nigeria and England (according to the TARDIS Wiki, episode three of The Web of Fear was apparently stolen and sold to a private collector in the time it took to make the negotiations to return the reels to England). Sorry if that was a lot of info to take in about it! The recovery of these episodes was one of my first forays into the world of lost media, so it's one of the topics I actually know the most about in the subject!

3:45 it definitely means something to this someone out there! Me and my family would watch Doctor Who for as long as I can remember, me and my older sibling even made up lyrics to the funky intro music that went something like Doctor who Doctor who We all love Doctor Who-oo We even had a paper Tardis (the phonebox Time Machine the namesake Doctor Who warps in) that we would put on top of the Christmas tree instead of a star. Definitely one of the weirdest, creepiest, and most creative shows ive seen

I saw an article on Argentine Cinema in a Photoplay magazine in the Public Library. and the story was this cartoon mentioned here; was a cartoon reel shown with a movie called "Irene and her two husbands."

Looking forward to the rest of it! Hoping to see some English Dub Minky Momo and Avengers DISK wars! (Plus I am currently in the possession of some sports based Lost media, the college football hall of fame video from South Bend Indiana, if I can get it to run on a DVD I can see about uploading it somehow)

There is so much lost doll stuff. It's AMAZING. the sailor Moon video digs into some sailor Moon stuff but you got tie in stuff, canceled lines, just... dolls have a sub culture for a reason.

I don't think the Minky Momo English dub was on there.
@madamminalost2 жыл бұрын
@@lainiwakura1776 I hope it gets added. It is listed on Amazon but it's not actually there. Plus Minky Momo is WILD. They killed her off by getting her hit by a truck because the toy company removed the contract

update on El Apostol: Here in Argentina it's still a copy of El Apostol, it's on a museum in Jujuy, the bad thing is that the proyector is really expensive

I wish you good luck on this project! I double checked to make sure I had the 🔔 switched to all notifications to make sure I'll know when a new part drops. 😄 When you're done with this and you edit all the parts together into one big video, you might end up with a longer all parts video than even Wendigoon's conspiracy theory iceberg video with all parts and that humongous video was like 9½ hours. lol. 😋

This seems like a mad mans mission, if you somehow do finish this may be the biggest project I have seen on KZbin and all tiers combined could beat wendigoons video in length.I applaud you for even trying to finish this mammoth task. I wish you the best of luck on this

I can go through all of these tiers and find at least 4 different pieces of lost media that I would love to be found!

Lost JoJo film: This will be unreleased due to licensing issues as well as the current right holders being dicks. Araki did confirmed he has a copy of it, in fact multiple copies exist of it but cannot be released publicly. However he said that it will be released when the time is right. It is rumoured that Suginami Museum has copy of it on their archives. Hirogata: This seems to be one of those PSAs that took a life on its own. It wasn't a PSA but rather a common practice. Early visual novels especially in early development use blank figures as a placeholder when the character designs are still being made. Rail tracks backgrounds are very common is bishoujo games so I wouldn't be surprised if it was just that. GHOST HUNT: This is a example of a lost live action adaptation of an anime that has bizarre circumstances. You really need to hunt like you're in a ghost Hunt to even get the most basic of information. Now apparently a new production completely unrelated to the old lost production announced the film will release on 2021... And yup it didn't release and nobody knows where the news even came from. Doraemon: The lost animations are available to view at the Doraemon Museum in Japan.

I came across the problem of the 1890s census when I was researching my genealogy. My ancestors were almost all in New York at the time so the New York census filled in the gap. Though I still haven't been able to figure out everyone.

Pretty sure doraemon 1993 is a typo and is actually referring to the entire lost anime from 1973
@circleancopan7748 Жыл бұрын
Is the 1973 Doraemon lost episodes referred to the lost 26 episodes from the animation studio that went bankrupt after finishing the 26? They were either sold to collectors to pay off the debt, or used the tapes to pay the debt.
