Some people aren't too familiar with the word "irony" it seems, personally I didn't really care about Sirenhead either. Because it's exactly what it sounds like, it's a monster with as siren for a head, and that's it. I get that less can be more and all that but come on. I don't know, I find SCPs more interesting because they've got a bit of a variety to it and categorize the cryptids by how dangerous they are, just seems like more effort to me. The fact that not all SCPs are out to kill you is a bit refreshing too, some are actually friendly, for example, SCP-1471-A is a stalker that just wants to be your friend

@@JargonMadjin Some SCP's can be interesting, sirenhead was a weird one to me, because I had no interest but it was frickin everywhere. Some SCP's on the other hand are just... why. The thing SCP has going for it is at this point it's so massive and there's so many that there's bound to be a few good ones who hold up the whole thing from collapsing. Quantity over quality. Not saying it's bad, in this case the quantity worked to give it a feeling of a fleshed out universe, even if some of the SCP's, or many, were low effort, and the ones that followed once they hit about 1000 became 0 effort with a few good ones sprinkled in.

Usually because most if not all creepastas are remembered more for the images, not the stories. That's because most of the stories are pretty bad There's a few that aren't, like "MARIO" which was featured here. It's not really a creepypasta considering it's based on a real story & real forum posts, but it had a half decent creepy pasta

This comment is based off one of Calebcity's vines "prank them John", in which one person falls asleep at a sleepover, another person says "prank em John", and john replies "you already know" and proceeds to do... Things to the sleeping person. This comment is fusing the 2, depicting bugman as a mosquito since he sucks the blood from the homeowner once they are asleep.

Out of every creepypasta Image, video, story, and fan-made animation, there's always just been something about the face from the MARIO creepypasta that has haunted me since I saw it back in 2012 or 2013 (I can't remember). It's just the horrifying way it's edited, the pure unknown darkness behind the figure, the murder victim backstory, and just the distress on the face. It's terrified me for years and to this day I STILL can't sleep good if I think about it too much

Ever since the first time I saw a Creepypasta Wiki post called "MARIO" with that image, I've seen it as a red picture of Mario with a big ol nose pointing to the right above his completely dark mustache, trying way too hard to be scary just like the story itself. The Victim 1 image has been found. The person in the image was found and then a tool was used to look for all images online that contained the person's face, which finally found the original. The original image is of very high quality, which is kinda surprising. The person is a cosplayer of Dir En Gray's Kyo

Fun fact: the “make me cute” image actually appears as an Easter egg in Doki Doki Literature Club. It’s one of the rarer Easter eggs but it’s a really interesting one. I think it’s a 1/101 chance and it only happens once during the poem parts of the game. The more you know!

Man the early 2010 creepypastas really take me back. My favourite story of all time had to be "1999". A long story short, Kid named Elliot asks for a tv in his room to watch Pokemon but later discovers his new tv had other channels including a disturbing local public access show called Caledon Local 21. It takes some bizarre twists and turns but overall one of my favourites! Another good one is the Candle Cove ones, I remember believing that they were real for a long time lol, those were the days

I think a portion of 1999 became lost at some point, because I remember listening to the story and there was another show based off the real life "oobie" show (the one with the hands for puppets) and now i can't find that version of the story anymore. For the last face, im 100% sure that doll IS the original image, the eyes and mouth are very clearly cropped and added on from another photo, covering the original eyes and mouth. You can see how the top of the head is blurred, but the hair strands fall EXACTLY the same (and are also cut off by the eyes and mouth, proving they're taken from another image and just pasted on). The nose is also picture prefect the exact same, same with the eyebrows. It's pretty believable that the image of the doll is unedited, the only thing that may be edited is the left eye due to how pitch black it is and is a little unrealistic with the lighting, but thats about it, just looks like your typical old, beat up, creepy doll. Overall though it's interesting to know the story behind it, the creepypasta like all of them is laughably bad, but the spread of a creepy image is always interesting.

Hey so about the Mario Victim 1 Face, I'm 99% sure it's a face from a movie called "FearDotCom". It was one of those horror movies backpacking off the james wan style of directing with quick cuts and crazy transitions. That face is VERY similar to the face seen on the cover of the movie and shown in the movie. I remember the face vividly because I saw the DVD cover in a CVS when I was 12 and it freaked me out so bad. The crack in the face/blank eyes/ hair lines up perfectly. If you deep fried it a bit, I think you'd have a match Edit: The character's name is apparently Jeanine Richardson after doing more research. I'm sure this character is who the face is.

I believe the image originates from a house/office listing on an American property site. Not zillow, but a smaller, lesser-known one. Someone managed to uncover the original image being posted in 2012 and found it on a blog site talking about the listing.

One problem with them coming forward is they would just be one voice in a sea of thousands. So unless they still had the original (which given its age. And that independent of backrooms lore its a really generic interior photo.) The chances they'd still have it. And would make enough noise for others to notice is limited at best.

What's interesting to me regarding the image of the doll is that yeah, the background and nose, eyebrows and even the singular strands of hair that are in front of the face are near identical to the Make Me Cute image. But it does seem like a separate image was used for the eyes and teeth and were photoshopped on the doll's face, hopefully that secondary image of its eyes and teeth, whatever it is, becomes uncovered as well.

Honestly, the doll image might be original. There was a trend for dolls with teeth in the late 19th to early 20th century, both in Japan and in Europe. Usually made from Bisque, they were often called "Ichimastu dolls" and (much like their European counterparts) they were meant to be realistic with soft-looking skin, hair, teeth, realistic eyes, even eyelashes. Today we find them a little creepy-looking but at their time they were quite expensive.

I feel like with how over saturated Creepypastas were in the mid to late 2010s it caused them to fall off hard but I do think it can make a big comeback especially with a new generation and a new batch of anonymous writers Sure there will be another era where it has a bunch of poorly written stories would come out and diminished it's value like before, but like with the super Mario 64 is personalized and the backrooms popularity Creepypastas/creepy stories and videos will always be around and still find huge success

I was in the original thread, the mst3k guy, and played along with OP because, hey, that's what we did back then with creepypastas. The threads were originally archived on the OG 4chan archive, but that's gone sadly. If there's a way to somehow view /sanc/ from datchan you can find the threads discussing it over there.

On the Cameraheads: Not sure it anyone else has mentioned this, but there was some art from the game Manhunt that showed a concept nearly identical to the Cameraheads. They were Hunters in suits and ties. With cameras for heads. Called "The Cam Heads". Go figure. Perhaps that inspired the alleged Creepypasta?

If anyone wants more details on this or any other Japanese horrors, I highly recommend her work. She translates them nicely into English and provides context wonderfully when needed. I think it's pretty clear the eyes and mouth of the "make me cute" / dollthing image were cut out from a different image. The eyes and mouth look very similar in terms of composition, coloration, lighting, etc., so I'm willing to wager they came from the same image. I'd be interested to see the source for those parts of the final product too, not just the base photo they were put on.

Really good video as always, Jorge. I don't usually comment on videos but the topic of lost creepypastas has intrigued me and some of my friends for the past few years. A large chunk of the old 2008 - 2012 pastas, even ones that were semi-popular around the time, are considered lost. The way pastas used to spread in the early days was someone would create a new one in an /x/ thread, and if people liked it they would repost it again and again until it reached the Creepypasta Wiki. If people didn't like a story, it would simply not be reposted. This wasn't really an 'issue' per se until late 2013, when all the /x/ archives crashed, bringing down not only the forgotten stories, but also stories the community liked that hadn't been reposted anywhere else, not even the Creepypasta Wiki. The Wiki itself underwent a purge of sorts when they realized many of their older stories were pretty bad, resulting in the deletion of roughly five thousand pages. However, with the help of some Creepypasta Wiki admins (as well as an incomplete 5GB text archive of /x/ given to us by an anonymous source) over at the Trollpasta Wiki during this past year we've managed to reupload roughly three thousand old deleted creepypastas dating to 2010 to 2012, the majority of which were not available anywhere else online. Hopefully the more awareness spreads the more stories will be found, and the more people will be mindful to archive the more 'obscure' stories they see.

Not that its lost media, but ages ago I watched one of Tats' video series on some of gaming's most creepy urban legends, rumours, and jumpscares. When wishing to rewatch it, however, Tats had it delisted. And since I didn't remember who it was outside the Geth intro, I couldn't even begin to try finding it. It wasn't until recently I was able to rediscover Tats' channel, and realize a lot of the videos were just delisted. Would be nice to go back through and watch them again...

This whole area of creepypastas is funny to me because it basically is, “You know what’s scarier then a story/image that is meant to be creepy? A creepy story/image that no one even knows where it’s from!” Although for the make me cute doll image, I reckon that earliest image we have is the original picture. The doll is likely degraded to a point and those kind of teeth are not uncommon for Japanese dolls. What might be more interesting is to find the source of the eyes and mouth and such that were edited on to said picture. Although only if it turned out they were cut from something and then added rather then made from scratch.
