As a ballet kid I was immediately interested in Ballora, tho I was disappointed that Scott missed his opportunity to name Ballora after Coppelia (or create a different ballerina character based on the doll from the ballet). For those who don't know, it's about a doll (Coppelia) who looked so realistic & beautiful a teen boy blew a kiss towards her when he saw her from outside her house (despite being engaged to a girl LOL). The creator hated the townspeople (& they thought he was a massive weirdo) but he loved his doll as if she was his daughter &, after he caught the boy sneaking into his house to see Coppelia, he uses him to try & bring her to life. So yh, making a character based on Coppelia would've not only excited me but it also would've been fitting considering the FNAF lore. I'll admit this is also the reason why I didn't hate the plot-twist in TFC (tho it was terribly executed 😒).

Once I heard a theory that the reason Baby was so aggressive on night 4 was because it wasn’t her. It was Funtime Foxy. If you look at Foxy’s blueprint, they have a voice mimic system. Maybe Funtime Foxy was mimicking Baby’s voice.

I immediately jumped on the theory that Ballora was based on and eventually possessed by Mrs. Afton, which might add on the possibility for a whole new aspect of her character. After all, Michael is our hapless player character, and also -- of course -- her son. Maybe in a similar way to Baby (aka Michael's sister Elizabeth), Ballora would start out thinking Michael is his father, and that would play a big part in her kidnapping him. But that would also be how she realizes the truth: that it isn't her husband she's kidnapping, but actually the only child she has left who hasn't died and come to possess an animatronic. With the first/only chance she has to talk to him alone, this could lead to her telling him about what's really going on with his sister, and more importantly, not to listen to her. Compared to the other Funtimes (who are all almost certainly possessed by dead children because of the whole Remnant thing and probably lost themselves just like Elizabeth), she would be the only one still with a mere sense of her humanity and who she once was.

Not only would she not want her own daughter stooping that low even if it *was* against William, it would only go double or even triple if she kidnapped Michael and realized, "Wait, this person isn't my ex-husband... _That's my _*_baby!_* The only one still alive! Elizabeth wants to kill _her own older brother!"_

Things I wished happened in sister location. 1. Michael should’ve spoke and interacted with the characters throughout the nights. 2. Circus baby’s pizza world should have been in the game for like a day mode or other phase of the game, like have circus baby’s entertainment and rental be right under the restaurant. 3. Michael should not have been scooped and instead just left to die while being exposed to remnant so he comes back. 4. The Funtime animatronics should have escaped the facility as themselves separately and only became ennard/molten Freddy in fnaf 6 as some sort of final boss and plot twist. 5. Ballora should have been a good animatronic and had a more significant role in the story (showing that there can be good animatronics like the puppet and glamrock Freddy). 6. Funtime chica should have been in the game as a replacement for ballora when ennard/molten Freddy was formed. 7. Funtime foxy should have had a little sidekick like the others, perhaps like an orange/red/brown bird. 8. Circus baby should have been an enemy to face and had a jumpscare and more screentime. These are just my thoughts, what do you think.

Wow, the audio is awesome this time! The first one weirded me out a little, so i disconnected the headphones, closed the room door and heard it in the speaker of my phone while knitting. I prefer to hear the videos instead of watch it, so thanks for making a better audio for us who prefer hearing it! (Also, you're right: Ballora's potential is COMPLETELY wasted, even more when you take on consideration that she is made after Mrs. Afton)

Baby, for me, is a character that I dislike to a surprising degree. Upon hearing her voice for the first time, my first thought was "Is that the villain of this game?" Then, she gloats on Night 4 and I am just sitting being annoyed because she did a poor job of concealing her intentions. Sure, she does help you on Night 2; however, her instructions felt redundant because what Hand Unit tells you to do sounds like you are asking to be killed. Also, I was always under the impression that Baby is Ennard.

Ballora was always my 2nd favorite Funtime animatronic behind Funtime Freddy, a part of me wishes she was a good animatronic like the puppet or glamrock Freddy, and when ennard/molten Freddy was around she was replaced with Funtime chica so she could still be around, and if she ever was possessed by Mrs Afton I think it would make the interactions between her and Michael all the more significant.

I think the ultimate reworking of Ballora would be to really go down on the concept that she’s Mrs. Afton. Her song is essentially about William shutting himself into his work I believe, and is made up of questions like “Why do you hide inside these walls?” I think the reason her animatronic has closed eyes is because she was blinded to what William was really doing. So here we have Micheal, his baby sister Elizabeth in Baby, and his mother in Ballora. Something has clicked in Baby and she sides with William all the way, but of course we’re to valuable of an asset as the only remaining Afton (I think William has been springlocked at this point) to stay alive. So we get jump scared by Fun-Time Foxy at the end of night three and start the beginning of night four waking up in the springlock suit. Baby turns on the PA system and starts a new speech about how she can’t find us and how “she’s so worried” and that she needs us. She starts to slip a little in her facade before the announcement gets cut off by a minorina skittering up to the speaker system in the room and cutting off the sound. Ballora then starts to speak, asking if we were alright and apologizing for the precarious situation. She then reveals that she saved us from Fun-Time Foxy. She officially explains how the animatronics are the spirits of deceased children, and that she visits the other characters often. They’re just scared and confused children, and as she’s not only an adult but a mother, Ballora finds it her responsibility to ease them. Unfortunately, Baby has been corrupted by her father, and can’t see past what William wants her to see. She then asks Mike about himself: why he’s here and why he insists on staying. She warns him of the pieces of Baby’s plan that she’s overheard, and although unaware of Mike’s identity she somehow feels he must stay alive-hence convincing herself his walking in her gallery the second time around was nothing to investigate. It would be here Mike gets a voice. He gives a conceit but still illusive response to her question, and Ballora reacts saying she recognizes his voice. She goes in to open the face plates of the suit when Fun-Time Foxy slams her into the wall and locks her up to be scooped, watching just out of reach of the horrific claw as it gouges into Ballora’s stomach. She screams in agony, causing Foxy to flinch and a brief switch happens as he looks at the scene with horror, and starts to back away in fear. The scooper knocks Ballora’s face plates off and for the first time she can see the face of the person she’s been talking too: her son, Micheal. She looks at us, and with a shaky last breath….”Micheal…..”. She spurts out, sparks flying, Foxy dives away from the light. Baby has found us and speaks through Foxy behind the plexiglass screen. It’s Foxy’s voice, but there’s something different about him than he was a few seconds prior. Baby really comes through when she realizes why the name Micheal was so important to her now twice deceased mother, and what started out as Baby being a cautious ally really becomes apparent that she’s the villain with her manipulating Mike to continue the nights for answers and using his little sister’s voice to drive him to insanity. In the end, Mike would be so convinced that the only way to see his sister again would be in death and allows himself to be scooped-then of course, both Baby and Elizabeth’s voices ringing in his mind, “you won’t die”, and we get that iconic mirror realization scene in the cannon ending or something along those lines like the 1st person pov slowly closing his eye to the voices until it crescendos and he opens his eye wide with a start. As for the gameplay of night 4, you’d get a very valid reason as the why the spring locks are now unstable-Ballora’s hand as she went in to feel Mike’s face gets bashed into the suit when Foxy rams into her. Maybe the hand would fall into ours and we as the player could use it’s sparks to scare away Foxy. So you would still need to wind up the spring locks but instead of those minorinas crawling in we would have to keep Foxy away from making the spring locks worse. The night would start with the spring locks being easy to reset and only some of them unwinding in the first place. If you can’t keep Foxy away with limited wires to pull from the arm to create the sparks, he would try to pull you out of the suit in waves gradually making the suit more unstable. So now we have an actual Fun-Time Foxy mini game, Ballora gets more voicelimes and a huge impact to the plot, Baby doesn’t seem like a stupid mastermind anymore, and we still use the ever so influential springlock suit. If you’ve read this far down, thank you very much for taking the time to read my idea! If @TheInsightfulLlama sees this, do you think it would serve Ballora justice?

@monkebrain5932 I agree-the night fending them off is very anxiety inducing to say the least, but it’s just so so so long with no variety, and after dying to them over and over they loose the scare value. Maybe you have to shake them off while also fending off ft foxy: you have one free hand to pull a wire from Ballora to get a stunning spark, but you can’t shake the minorinas off at the same time or your arm will get springlocked. Now you have no way to fend off ft foxy, but if it’s late enough in the night you still get that glimmer of hope of survival that raises adrenaline and really makes a moment terrifying. With their leader gone I would think it makes sense for the Minorinas to be under C. B.’s influence now.

@monkebrain5932 yeah it does make sense-that would be a great moment for C. B. to exploit as well. I can just see a cut scene where the minorinas crawl up on Ballora’s face and body, silhouettes barely lit by her eyes, touching her face and meekly asking, “mo-ther? Mo-ther?”. Then C. B. comes in and puts the fault on us, and tells the minorinas that she can fix their mother if they bring Ballora’s endoskeleton back to her-so maybe the first half of gameplay you’re just fending off ft foxy with the Ballora arm, then the second half the minorinas try to crawl in and forcibly take the last piece of the endoskeleton which you are using to survive currently.

@monkebrain5932 You’re so right XD For me personally, the idea of Enard just being wires is terrifying because of how nimble and slippery that allows him to be. So I’d reckon either we give Enard a new design with an endoskeleton or keep him as wires and rework the story a bit to give him a moment to show how terrifying his concept can be. Can you imagine the horror of seeing this mass of wires with a clown mask walk up menacingly after you’ve been scooped-you should be dead on impact but remnant (which should be reworked to be more obviously prevalent in the story for that moment) is keeping you alive for you to endure and suffer: you try to shuffle away as this..thing towers over you. Then slowly it starts to shrink to eye level, but not because it’s bending down. It’s because it’s keeping eye contact as it forces its wiry form into your body, using YOUR skeleton as the endoskeleton it needs in the moment. I also think as Enard is an amalgamation of all the fts, it’s important to highlight the difference between scrap baby and molten Freddy when Baby has been physically rejected. Her schemes aren’t done yet, she’s independent and capable and recognizes form and engineering-a hint that maybe Elizabeth “pretended” to be ineffective to learn William’s knowledge to bring him back and make him proud. Nonetheless I do agree that the actual animatronics need to have some indication of an endoskeleton. Especially Ballora who walks around by spinning ballet style. All that movement and you’d think the wires would slosh around in there. As for her redesign, I think the implication of less skin showing is really it. Ballet is a physically demanding art form so it makes sense why all the dancers are lean and muscular. Admittedly we could see more of that in ballora’s endo preview. If she had more of a costume design rather than very very short skirt, her aesthetic and visual difference from the rest really work in our favor for naturally piquing the audience’s interest for that reveal. I also really like the spinning tutu. We could play around with that and give her multiple “outfits” by making it an interchangeable piece that’s set on a track. Then of course give a clear indication of tights and a better underskirt. Maybe the tutu is a piece altogether and her real design includes an actual dress William creepily made the robotic version of his wife wear as he’s clearly delusional. A flowing white dress with blue accents representing innocence and sorrow, perhaps?

I agree with everything and would like to add to a point you made about Ballora being the one to kidnap Micheal (idk if a previous commenter has said this and if so, twinsizes) the reason that I know of that some people believe that William unalived his wife and made her into Ballora is because she is the most human-like animatronic and is patient and comforting 'like a mom' and it is speculated that she went to see what his work is and told him to stop but hes a psychopath. If Ballora as Mrs.Afton had kidnapped Micheal, then she could have had some sort of 'hi son' kind of thing. Telling Micheal to leave or some detail of what Willam did, how crazy he is or about where he currently is. This can be an add-on reason because I also really like Ballora trying to spite Baby😁

i didn't play this game nor any other fnaf personally, so i definitely think that important to consider here, but i loved sister location. the trailers, the hype, everything about it made me so excited. a story based fnaf game that departs from 5 to 6 nights of literally the exact same thing is right up my ally. i adore the designs of the characters, the voice acting, and the overall story. it's super exciting to have a protagonist that you know the exact identity of instead of having to speculate. i agree that the entire concept of "living in a body that should be dead" is awful and makes for great horror. but i think a lot of the issues with the game can be summed up by the creator lacking good story writing skills. i mean this as no disrespect or hate to scott cawthon. he's given us so many games over so many years and has literally shaped my childhood and love for horror. but... i also can't sugarcoat that he is not very good at writing or making things that scary anymore. fnaf 1 was scary because of the concept. no one had done "haunted chuck-e-cheese" shit before, and the fnaf 1 animatronics are SCARY. that game is honestly really good, even by today's standards. fnaf 2 leaned into the gameplay aspect, but was still decently spooky. being constantly stressed helped with that. the story of fnaf 1, 2, and 3, and maybe even 4, are damn solid. it's not too crazy, just ghosts and a serial killer. the story there was not remarkable, but it was scary, and it was simple. but sister location? gameplay wise, it basically only has jumpscares going for it. the only animatronic that really leans into being scary for me is, and this is a big maybe, funtime freddy. for me, that's mostly because his face is a lot more uncanny than the other funtimes, and kellen goff absolutely killed it with his voice. and the story had _so much potential_ uuughhh it makes me so sad. you and the commentors made awesome points about how this game could've been good. one thing that really screws me up is the entire scooping room thing. you said it yourself, why the hell does michael just stand there? and why is it just a giant fuckin spoon? it could have been SO scary and intimidating, something that really makes you queasy to think about happening to you, but i genuinely don't think scott had that mindset when making sister location. it was a means to an end, a way to get michael from point a to point b, despite being something that was alluded to the entire damn game. you think, "oh jesus what the hell is the scooping room" and then it's unironically just a room with a big ass spoon. i wish, from the bottom of my horror loving heart, that fnaf was scarier, but as it is, sister location is a not scary game about a not scary story that has overwhelmingly frustrating mechanics that everyone that ever touched the game says was a slog to get through. i love this game, but mostly because of what it could've been. sorry for the extra long comment 😳 i love fnaf and it breaks my heart to see it be... so bad

I think baby kidnapping you wasn't in the plan, but Fun Time Foxy didn't follow the plan and attaced you anyway. Clearly the player gat naked out so they dident really have much of a choice cuz they couldn't get you home or anything so they had to keep you ther so the best baby culd do was to hide you. And that alines with the fact that Baby is the only one who is capable of following their plan as all the others are attacking and killing the player even though that is the opiset of what they want. So, Baby trying to help you survive and not get found makes total sense. At least that is my interpretation of what happened. I also believe the fun time stage is for both freddy and foxy, freddy just desided not to be ther, cuz i thinke it's never stated to be the fun time foxy stage but just the fun time stage. And that might explain the sorscode where both of them are labled ftf, maybe it's because both of them are one preformens. I know we all call all of the sister lokaition animatronics the fun times, but it's only foxy and fredy how are actual fun times. I might be wrong about this, so if that is the case, feel free to correct me in the comments. Sorry for the bad spelling. I have dyslexia

To defend Baby's motivations a little bit on Night Four, she does have a reason for claiming she "kidnapped" you. The initial idea behind it is that she "saved" you from Foxy. But, now that she has you, she wants to prove her claims. She's given these thoughts and ideas that the animatronics are very much sentient and when they don't behave or don't do what the people want, they're punished. And it hurts them. We see this whenever they're given a controlled shock. So now she's showing you what happens when that doesn't work for the people in charge. Ballora will not go back on stage, no matter how many times she's shocked. So she gets scooped. And it's ugly and horrifying. Her insides being violently ripped out. So Night Four is her evidence. Following that, she has to open up the springlock suit so the cameras see you and you can be safely rescued in the morning. But that has the side-effect of the Minireenas seeing you and attacking (I always interpreted their attack like it's another human hurting Ballora or getting revenge for Ballora). So Baby tells you how to survive until you can be rescued. Now, I do agree that the voice work doesn't really portray that the best. And I think it's due to the more child-like voice the VA is putting on. She sounds more sinister than was likely intended. I think the intention was for her to be trying to be quiet to not attract attention of anyone still lingering before she finishes her speech, but with the voice that the VA is using, it just sounds sinister and creepy. But children whispering usually has that creepy feel lol. As for her minigame, I'm pretty sure the common belief is that Baby has been combined into Ennard before the start of the game. The chip she has you take is a "memory chip" or "personality chip" or something (I know I've watched a theory video about it somewhere, but I can't remember exactly. Something about how that's what makes her "Baby" and with it gone she can be fully "Elizabeth" or something, I think?). She gives you the excuse that it's her voice thingie because she's being sent to the scooper room straight away, which would shut her off and cause her to not be able to direct you the rest of the way. And that she's only been able to communicate with you freely thus far is because she's not scooped yet. Clearly, she's lying, but that's the idea behind it. But the chip removed being able to make her fully Elizabeth would explain why she got on so well with the animatronics pre-Ennard (Enough to devise this escape plan) before it all fell apart afterwards.

I remember having a theory about Ballora having her eyes closed because her name included 'Balor' which was a Gaelic demon king who had a closed eye, but when opened, could destroy armies. I think I thought too much about Five Nights At Freddy's

That's exactly how Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion made me feel, and there was a long period where I thought I was overreacting. Something beating you down over and over can have a very real psychological effect on you, and I think a lot of people forget that that can apply to absolutely any experience someone has.

theory: what if when "baby" says she kidnaps you, it's actually foxy? i mean, baby is bossy, and kicked out of ennard. what if foxy LIED about being baby, so you wouldn't listen to her on night five? what if baby is in control of ennard, and foxy, freddy, and ballora are trying to gain control, and kick her out. and once you make it to 6am, baby gets thrown out of ennard, and you and ennard go to the surface. that's why ennard staggers onto the screen during the secret ending, because a part of ennard is missing.

I love this so much. Ballora was always one of my favorites as well (right behind Foxy) so seeing someone point out how utterly wasted of a character she was made me smile. And, I saw a comment about it further down, but a part of me wishes that, going off of how Ballora was supposedly "afraid" of the plan failing, she was actually trying to help you, under the assumption that if she was nice to you, you'd take her home and set her free like that. Baby, however, would think this was stupid and ensured that the player would distrust her by doing pretty much what you said in the video and then dragged Ballora into the Ennard plan as a way of rubbing it in her face. Of course, as the custom night cutscenes show, Ballora was the one who was in the right in the end. (Also in what universe could MatPat possibly believe that Ballora wasn't popular!? Did he not SEE her design!?)

Honestly since baby is theorized to be possessed by Elizabeth and Charlie in the 1-4 nights would explain why she thinks shes all that, children tend to think the world revolves around them which leads them to foolish actions without logically thinking not all children are like this but its usually the spoiled brats who think they can do everything i feel like both Charlie and Elizabeth fit the roll perfectly Elizabeth was the daughter of a famous entertainment creator and so was Charlie that would make them possibly get whatever they want without lifting a finger

you should definitely listen to the song that ballora sings if u haven't already, it adds a lot more depth to her character. granted it is a disservice if its something you have to hunt for in the game, i know about it from watching gibi's fnaf lore in 8 hours video (which i highly recommend if you have the time lmao) i've never played any of the games bc i know i don't have the patience to dig for all that stuff but i love watching videos about it. the video also shows a lot of context to baby's character, why michael would go along with the things she says, why ennard kicks her out, etc etc. i totally agree that they should've done more with ballora also and i like the fan theory that she is william aftons wife, either literally in the sense that he killed her and shes haunting ballora, or that she's a representation

Really good video! Though I feel that an animatronic that has far more missed potential in this series would be Mangle. I feel like Mangle is insanely underutilized. As while yes they're all in robot suits, all the animatronics are all still human, or almost human. Whereas Mangle is just an animal, a dog that's now been trapped in this twisted horrible form, unable to die and trapped in an existence where it gets torn apart and twisted more on a daily basis in the pizzeria. Out of all the animatronics who attack you, I feel like Mangle would be by far the most vicious and animalistic about it. There's a really cool free fan game made semi recently called "Jr's" that I think really uses Mangle to a greater extent than the main series ever even attempted to do.
