The "yellow fog" is actively doing many things- rubbing its back, rubbing its muzzle, licking ang lingering. Can we say that the fog has been personified?

You came out of nowhere with this one, Mr. Huff lol your Waste Land series is among the best and most thorough Eliot analyses on the net; might I suggest Dante’s Commedia Divina, The Canterbury Tales, Leaves of Grass, Pound’s Cantos, Hart Crane’s Bridge, and Ginsberg’s Howl and/or Kaddish? Cheers from Canada for all you do 🙏🏼

16:25 - yellow smoke "in the context of WW1" makes sense--only Eliot wrote the poem in 1910. It stayed in his files for five years before publication.

And yellow is sometimes deemed as the colour of nostalgia. Can we say that the yellow fog is perhaps a symbol of a hazy past which has somehow subtly affected the present?
