Hey Boris! Love your content. When it comes to motion sickness, it’s usually caused by smooth movement/turning that doesn’t feel natural. I’m not sure how the movement settings are in this game, but I know that using a “teleport” style of movement doesn’t cause motion sickness. Something like H3VR’s “Armswinger” also is good, as you move more actively/naturally rather than just using a stick. Stay cheeki breeki!

F.Y.I the discomfort Boris is experiencing is normal for people playing VR games that use artificial locomotion (i.e thumbstick) for the first time. These advanced VR games (VR games with basic movement don't have this issue) require your body to go through an adjustment period, similar to "getting your sea legs" when you start working on a ship. All you need to do is play a game using artificial locomotion and take a good rest as soon as you feel a bit queasy. Over time, you'll be able to play for longer and longer until you can play as long as you want. Everyone gets there in the end, but it can take time. It took me about a month, but now even the airboat sequence in HL2 VR is no problem!

Apparently it’s a normal thing. When I started VR I didn’t get motion sick for whatever reason. One of my first times playing was Blade and Sorcery and I played for two hours straight. I wonder why I didn’t get nauseous

To be fair, I really, really wanted to love this game. It's not trying to be a HL Alyx tech demo knockoff (nothing wrong with HLA, it's just it's from earlier VR years and people still think VR didn't cover some ground since, eg, Boneworks, Zero Caliber...), it has large maps that are connected together, a solid gameplay loop, but... The game is incredibly hard in the later areas, due to over-reliance on gunner type enemies, which, by being paranormal in nature, you cannot loot. These guys don't ever run out of ammunition, and simply are too frequent. The earlier areas of the Radius are much more tame, but once you get past the half point, the game simply becomes infuriating. There is simply so much I wanted to love in Into The Radius but it's become one of those games better to watch on KZbin than to play... And it's sad. It can be so fun, if only the devs simply halved the spawn rate of the Mimics (the gunner type enemies). They simply spawn way too frequently, and by virtue of being NPC AIs, have incredible coordinated awareness of the player character, and unlimited ammo. They also have a 160° FOV unlike a human eye's 88°, for some reason. There is a mod for it on NexusMods that cripples this back to 88°, making them more tolerable. **more** tolerable. The issue is, the game stops being immersive and you are no longer on edge, when you know there's ALWAYS a mimic around you at some point. You become so alert and always on the lookout, you learn to forget how to drop your guard and assume things are safe, which, paradoxically, makes the world less immersive and mimics less scary as a result. Just plain annoying. The more recent versions also removed resolution scaling (DLAA/DLSS/HSR) from the game, making the performance much worse, combined with increased visual details, so on top of no longer being as fun to play as it used to be (the devs consistently cranked up the difficulty with each update), it's now performance intensive on the eyes and the machine alike.

The vanilla game allows adjusting enemy spawn rates, hp and awareness to your heart's content (amongst other factors) in the dynamic difficulty settings. I didn't have much of an issue with their numbers but I did find their sponginess annoying - I kept having to backtrack due to running out of ammo halfway through the missions.

I think it's the sitting down part that makes you most nauseous. When I got my VR headset and started playing Skyrim VR I went for the full standing immersion and I did not use the teleport feature to move around either. I did feel some nausea in the beginning (running in the game while standing still IRL felt off) but you kind of get used to it if you keep playing for a couple of days

Into The Radius might be my favorite VR game next to Alyx. One of the only games I can play for extended periods without getting too sick. I don't know if this actually works, but placing a fan pointing directly at me feels like it helps with the nausea. Otherwise it feels like im sweating and overheating. Hopefully you give this another shot!
