I am not someone with a high club head speed, so when I got this club, I got it with a 60g shaft not offered normally. I found the lower spinning tour made my misses less exaggerated, and actually picked up yardage over other drivers I tested. But it was critical I used the lighter shaft. My first demo with the 70g smoke was far more difficult to find solid hits. With the right shaft, I think this driver can work for lots of people.

I hit It and I love the dead feel. LOVE It. And I’ve hated Taylourmde before. Feels great

I always loved the smaller heads! Great review Mike!

I just ordered this driver and should have it next week. I like the size and can't wait to dedicate this season to dialing it in. Thanks Michael!

I compared this to my SLDR. Same shaft and loft (Motore TS 6.3 X flex; 11 loft). The M5 tour still spins 500 more rpms than the SLDR when middled. I have yet to find a driver that spins less than it; the closest I could come to it with the M5 is when I put a Tensei CK pro white TX 70 in it; but it only reduced it by about 120 rpms. SLDR still to me is where it's at if you want the lowest spin. Great review though sir. Wanted to get someone else's feedback on it

I would agree that the M5 tour head size is the attractive part for me. I hit a three often off the tee for control and get good distance. I think this club would get me more distance with control. A bit pricey but I might give it ago.

Quite interesting as I’m still using an R11tp and haven’t used anything to better it! I do like the smoke shaft though, tried it in an F9 and really liked it!

I love this driver .it does look more compact but I love the dead feel. Thank you for doing this not many, if any, are doing this clubs review. t is the answer to the subzero for sure!

Add some more of the adjustable weights, and that might change the “dead feel” and sound. Add anywhere from 6 to 21 grams to the head and play it with a heavy shaft. I think that is how that head is supposed to be played. Long, heavy shaft and extra weight.... and hit more toward the heel, not the toe.

Michael, the M5 looked too big for me and I felt like the M5 tour felt better to me as well. I have been given the opportunity to switch into the SIM and honestly I'm not sure I'm going to make the switch. The SIM is a great driver but I keep going back to my M5 tour... this honestly is the first driver I've hit and said...damn that feels fast. The 2nd and only other driver that's felt that way to me...Speedzone!

Never seen anyone game one of Taylormade's smaller heads... Strange that they continue to release it.

Nice video. TM has made several low spin drivers that might compete for the title of lowest spinning ever. The SLDR would be my choice.

they're some great number, would love that spin rate!

Excellent review. Slightly off topic, having tested nearly all of the latest drivers, do you have any plans to review the new PXG Gen 2 drivers. They're now £550, with many exotic shafts included in that price
