Love The Lucy Show. Wish they would have a reunion
@taciaamostis64732 жыл бұрын
@Andrew Hudson... Same here, especially if they're all alive and well enough to do so. I would want them to play Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal though... seeing as 2 of them are from Canada. I hope The Lucy Show reunites, even if only for just one tour. It'd be fcukin' awesome!! C'mon guys! Please, please, please? Look at how many lives you've touched in such a positive way. Look at how many of us STILL remember you! It's not too late. It's never too late. Mark Burgess / The Chameleons UK did it, why can't you? Seriously, please consider it. Cheers. : ) (Saturday, April 2nd, 2022@11:40am EST)

@@taciaamostis6473 if i heard them in the 1980s i do not remember but this song has that great alternative music sound of the mid 1980s. up to around 2013 i felt a lot of good feelings about the music of the mid 1980s but now it is a sad reminder of the good things that are gone. going to see a 1980s artist perform is one of the few things left to enjoy.

Yes. This band was incredibly underrated! Phenomenal songwriting and musicianship. Two excellent releases and then...they were dropped by their label just as they were making a major splash in the US on the college radio charts. Criminally underrated. Thanks for asking that question though and enjoy!

Do you also remember The Quake "college rock" alternative radio station, KQAK FM99 in the Bay Area? I listened to it when I attended UC Berkeley. It lasted from '82-'85 and played music like this. It was incredible!

Great to read all of these tributes/ remembrances. The Lucy Show are one of the criminally underrated bands of their era. Great band, and I have friends who went to see them live in San Diego and said that there were 8 "attendees." They still rocked like there were 30,000. I love this band and always have. Great to see so many "finding" them.

Totally agree with you, a totally underrated band. Have always been a massive fan, musically. Still have both of their vinyl albums, though I used to have all their 12" singles, but no more. Will never stop listening to them.

Everyone says to many a band 'underrated', but THIS IS a band that should have been massive, even to this day! Have both albums and a few 12" singles and can still stands among many a band that are out there today.

This band were favourites in DC and would get club and video club play. Did OK on the dance floor for a song with this beat. They were on Big Time records and were victims of the unethical business practices that plagued all the acts signed to that label 1986-1989. Many acts got suckered in by those guys. Hoodoo Gurus, Dumptruck, The Lucy Show, Redd Kross, Exploding White Mice, Alex Chilton, Love and Rockets, Jazz Butcher Conspiracy, The Pastels, Dream Syndicate, Christmas, Love Tractor etc.

I was recently able to replace my warped version of "...undone" with a remastered, expanded reissue from words on music dot com. Haven't heard the album in 15 years: it's still, and again, one of my favorite bands and albums. That same company has also remastered/reissued/expanded "Mania" and released a compilation of earlier singles called "Remembrances." I had never heard any of the songs on that release.

This is the best that I can make of the lyrics after listening to a version with better quality: Your hero waits at the golden gates Pouring out marbles, rolling out on a stage Not a lot to say But remember me, recollect my scenes Eyes wide open, see how far I've gone I'll catch the freedom bus alone And if blind designs filled up thy shrines A million things you've said go round and round instead This time I can't get back to you again Trying to lose these suburban blues Waxwork dummy with cake and candles for you What can a poor boy do? Cause your hero waits and he hesitates My favourite vice can't go the ride I'd only string your loyal friend along And if all designs come back in time A million things you've said go round and round instead (What's up this time?) This time I can't get back to you again A million things you've said go round and round instead (What's up this time?) This time I can't get back to you again A million things you've said go round and round and round and round (What's up this time?) This time I can't get back I can't get back I can't get back A million things you've said A million things you've said A million, a million, a zillion, a trillion, a billion, a squillion things you've said... to me

Thanks, Planky. I actually contacted Mark Bandola (Lucy Show singer and lyricist) to ask him what the lyrics are and he was kind enough to reply. Yours are very close, but since this came from Bandola himself, we can consider it definitive. The hero waits at the golden gates Pouring out marbles rolling out on a stage Not a lot to say But remember me recollect my scenes Eyes wide open see how far I’ve gone I'll catch the freedom bus alone And if blind designs build up like shrines… A million things you said Go round and round instead This time I can’t back to you again Trying to lose these suburban blues Waxwork dummy with cake and candles for you What can a poor boy do? But your hero waits and hesitates My favourite vice can dull the ride I’m on You'll string your loyal friend along And if all designs come back in time… A million things you said Go round and round instead (What’s up this time?) This time I can’t back to you again A million things you said Go round and round instead (What’s up this time?) This time I can’t back to you -- again A million things you said Go round and round and round (What’s up this time?) This time I can’t get back I can’t get back I can’t get back A million things you said A million things you said A million, a billion, a trillion, a zillion, a brilliant thing you said To me…
