The Lunch Break Truck is Ready for the Races

Alright Mopar people! This is my 1972 Dodge D100 big block swapped 500 horse street truck that I am preparing for the racetrack. The beauty of this build is that nothing is perfect about it. It’s made up of parts that were bought or donated from mine or others leftover projects. No frills and no extras.
What better truck to take on Ryan Wing ‪@StreetCarChronicles‬ and his “Slick Rick” 80’s square body? Ryan will be coming to Newport Arkansas March 28th and 29th for the 2nd Tailgate Throwdown Race.

Nice job on the lunch truck Joe. Her 500 horses and slicks with 4:10 gears should give you a good launch. Thats where most races are decided and you have good reaction times. Good luck and I will be anxious to see some footage.😊

Love the farm boy shock fix 😂 well it is a farm truck lol. Should be a fun ride. I have 12.50 28 slicks for my d100 and wonder if they will be enough to get mine to hook. If not i have much bigger but that means i have to inboard the springs and tub this thing. My hope is its a good year for work and sales to i can finish this thing. Maybe make it to a track for test time.

I would love to get my truck down a track someday and see what it would do! Northern NY doesn’t offer much! I converted to non overdrive 4 speed it really boogies ! Especially when ya hit 2nd ! So now i need to focus on the traction situation!

This truck has a 406 cubic inch with stock cast crank. Nothing special at all for mopar people. L

Careful now, those *little trees" add 10hp and 15 if has the Pine variety 😂 That engine sounds mighty healthy for a "smog" 400 lol. I suspect you have a LOT of tricks up your sleeve for building drag cars. Plus of course you can drive em well. Nice truck and good luck!

RPMs are more important than MPH while racing anyhow. Seeing as shifting and other details require knowing the RPMs, I'd be much happier knowing that, and not worrying about the speed, because if I were on the road, I'd kinda already know how many MPH I was doing, anyhow. The speedo on my International is off by enough that its not reliable anyhow. When it reads 50 mph, I'm passing pretty much everything on the road.

As a bracket racer, I like a higher mph. The speed at the line really can surprise people when they don’t see you coming and it’s harder to catch a faster car at the end of the
