Thank you, when researching for the video I was amazed at just how much stuff was cut from the game. You'd think they could've went back and added some of the cut content with the release of the 'definitive edition' but still an amazing game.

Um it WAS great. Crazy how it could have been EVEN better. The fact that even with such a massive chunk of the game removed and rushed it's STILL top notch and in my personal top 3 games of all time

Also removed subway transportation , taxi system like in gta iv and gta v , driving bus as passenger , 3 alternative game endings , Vito's girlfriend - blond lady from clothing shop , real estate- buying houses , freeride like in mafia 1 , countryside , road to prison , buying houses and cars , meele weapons from mafia 1 , cops had more equipment on their belts , m14 rifle , 9 missions in ww2 Sicily , more radio songs , german hand grenade , cinema, record store , getting loan from Bruno , forklift , printwork facility , and other stuff.

my dad bought me mafia 2 back in the day, mainly because he’s italian and my great grandpa was a korean war veteran had a purple heart, also he was associated with either the colombo or gambino crime families in new orleans pretty surreal, don’t know what he did exactly but he had a pimped out burgundy lincoln with dark gold rims and dressed like tony soprano, was bald and wore aviators like jimmy, great video though bruh

Hey! What a nice video. Daniel Vavra actually has the original script for Mafia II at home. He was speaking about the intended end on a live stream some time ago. It explains a lot of things that do not make much sence in the final version of the game

Yes, there were three cut endings: in 1953, 1954, 1955. I don't know about 1957. Some anachronisms were originally planned as a couple of songs from the early 60s - for the atmosphere. The narrative of the environment in 1951 may have been taken from there, and a separate one was planned for it (although it is possible that 1951 did not exist as such, and Vito was released from prison in 1952). I don't know, we don't know what the developers could do when the game was cut in 2009, and what the original script should have been... After all, even in chapter 7, Joe and Eddie hum a song from 1958, it is not known whether this was originally planned or not, maybe they should have hummed it chapters later...

in the part of the game where you escape with leo there is a secret method to escape without any cutscene. Basically, you wait for Henry to enter one of the two doors on the seconds floor while vito and leo sit on the other side of the second floor facing his back and you wont be seen. Then as soon as he enters one of the doors you go downstairs and wait for the patrolling guard going around the staricase to go to the back of it then circle around behind and take him out. then you can kill the guard at the door since hes not facing you then just leave out the front door.

I've encountered the "Black Kraken" in the original Mafia II on PC, but not in the Definitive Edition. I think it has something to do with what version of Windows you're using, but I'm not too sure. Did anybody on a console witness it too?

It almost seems as if Jimmy was supposed to have his own expansion. We do see a cutscene in the beginning that is a montage of Jimmy doing what he does best with some very interesting situations (like the two guys being tied up and Jimmy smacking up a car in a dealership in front of them). But perhaps to time constraints or resource limits, that was scrapped, so the clips that are edited together could have been animated segments of cutscenes that were supposed to be full cutscenes. Would sure as hell explain why all mission briefings are just bodies of text that aren't written too seriously, conveying that dialogue was gonna be spoken by the mission givers. I could be overthinking, but that's my theory.
