@@ToadimusPrime The Dark souls are the humans tho, and it is located in a cicle like world where things repeat and change. Gael is not Manus, is not Artorias, he is not the chosen one as his lore states exactly like Midra is in comparison to the lord of the Frenzied Flame. But he is the one who *saves* humans by creating another world where they can live from the utter chaos of Lordran and Lothric. Soul of cinder tho is not just the gods who were the regolators of the humans' power and potential alongside entire kindoms in the dark souls universe, it is also the manifestation of you, the lord, the one who left all behind to make that same destroyed world live again another day in cinder but still alive. Gael is not the dark soul, just a human who took some bigger fragments of it, but the soul of cinder is the culmination of everyone who has ever linked the fire, the most important event in Dark souls, and a rapresentation of the Dark souls of those lords. One is the last resource, One is you and everything you could ever be, it is obvious for me that Soul of Cinder rapresents better what Dark souls really is, as the main characters are all people with dark souls.

I played this game a lot when my grandma got dementia. It was my way of coping because I had shown her the lore of Bloodborne and she was super invested in the art style and the story. She was very religious and she said that "although the Healing Church was awful with how they treated the people of Yharnam, I can't deny that the gothic buildings are beautiful," I also gave her context of the player character and she still found it very interesting. We were best friends and I was very close with her. She isn't dead, thankfully, but I clung to DS3 like a security blanket because I didn't want to play Bloodborne because of how much details of Bloodborne and how her memory was getting worse. I love her still, but its just so hard for me to come back to Bloodborne. Dark Souls 3 is a comfort game of mine. I know its not super easy, but it reminds me of a time before it got bad.

I disagree on your point of uniqueness. Dark souls 3 level design wise is super interesting every level even profane capital I found really memorable. People always mention the linearity but every other souls game is just about the same except ds1 and ds2 to a certain point. You do the starting areas pick which area between 2 areas after beating a skill check most to finish the rest of the game. Except with ds3 you can kill dancer early and say fuck it
@iamdoom98103 ай бұрын
And even in Lothric Castle, you can pick either to go down the main path or go through the Consumed King's Garden. Furthermore, going down that path unlocks the crossroads at the Profaned Capital or Archdragon Peak. Not to mention the hidden entry point to Smoldering Lake in the Catacombs of Carthus that can serve as a crossroads with Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. I'm sure by "interconnectedness" people mean having multiple entrypoints into areas that lead into an equally various amounts of exitways to different areas either already discovered or unexplored, and while Dark Souls III doesn't have a namecard dropped for most of those instances unlike say Dark Souls 1 or 2, that sort of level design (especially within the areas themselves through how they're sectioned) is most certainly present in much of the optional content.

One of the missed things was the Slaveknight aspect (which weaves into him using Way of White Corona) of Gaels lore, which made him as a Character even more impressive... But then I tried to remember my first playthrough, a time when I didn't know anything about it, and then I realized, none of this really maters. The fact that this video missed so much, makes it actually feel like a first time experience, and holy crap did this remind me of my firs experience... Nameless king, midirs lasers, Friedes and Gaels music and the biggest fanservice to even been served, Gwyns piano in Soul of Cinders second phase... I've had goosebumps all over my body and I think I'll be starting a new playthrough where I explore everything slow and steady

I do somewhat agree that the level design is not anything TOO special. It's 'good' with enemy placement, item placement, and overall actual design (Terrain, set pieces, ect.) But I think the best part of overall level design is the atmosphere - Going into catacombs: Feels like a place where lost souls have gathered. A little eerie, slightly depressing. Going into Irithyll: Grand yet feeling like a shadow of it's former self. Like some big thing is missing from it (Okay several things, but you get the idea) Going into Dungeons: Genuinely sp00py. You feel like you'll get ganked at every turn, yet the easiest ganks are lacking This is especially apparent in the DLC's of course. Particularly the Sister Friede boss fight has such an intense yet solemn atmosphere around it that you kinda feel it during the battle with her and Ariandel, it's a strong feeling of "I kind of feel I'm doing something bad, but I must press on" almost. Hard to describe. Personally DS3 is a masterpiece simply because it has the correct atmosphere for each level when you really thing about it. .... sucks that it's as linear as it is, though. Edit: Oh and ofc Anor Londo being so run down and grim compared to before is an insane feeling.

Guy ehl! Guy ehl! Guy ehl! weve never had pvp mechanics this fun or enjoyable, elden ring with 6 player cap and fight clubs like pontiffs backyard wouldve been incredible. I spent hundreds of hours in fight clubs, or hosting them, even doing things like using usb saves to drop every weapon maxed out in the game around christmas time for fightclubs that were funny, its a truly special experience I hope fromsoft finds a way to revive so you can experience it too. thanks for sharing another passionate video zitiboi, also I agree that DS2 areas felt more memorable as a whole and DS3 suffers from a bland color palette despite being a great game

The greatest series of all time. It will always have a special plase in my hart, I will never forget it. It is so sad to see it come to the great end it deserved...

Great video. For a second, I thought you weren’t even going to talk about the Soul of Cinder after you stopped talking about the base game and went into the DLC lol. Great points overall and I agree with you on most. This is definitely my favorite of the Souls games. Also Midir > Bayle and every other dragon imo

I'm not even gonna front, when i got to the end of time and Gael spoke and said he wanted the dark soul, it made my cry lol. It was just so perfect and made me realise after all these years it was coming to an end. Sounds dumb, but back in 2011/2 dark souls literally saved my life. If I hadn't got into that game when I did, I might not even be here today. So Fromsoft has meant the world to me for over a decade now.

DS3 is peak, the fan service is done in the best way possible, honoring everything that was important to the series and transform in a destroyed world to fit perfect for the end..PVP is also the best so many hours invading, dueling and making builds! The Bosses are the best from software ever made.

DS1 will always have nostalgia going for it but I think this is easily the best game in the series and encapsulates the “dark fantasy” vibe the most

I agree. DS1 is the best. The « adventure » feeling, the global design… It feels like reading a book in someway. I don’t know how to explain. As I enjoy all FS games, They feels like « games ». I really think this game is THE FromSoft masterpiece. Demon’s Souls is also a great Dark Fantasy game, especially in the original/ps3 version.

Lol! Weapon skills were in DS2 also. Plus, it was where we got power stancing. Some very good stuff in DS2. I love DS3, but it didn't create much. Just refined almost everything created in other entries :).

The first time I defeated the Abyss Watchers was an absolutely Amazing feeling! After a fuck ton of deaths I didn't even see them as "some Boss in a Video Game", I saw them as a mighty Warrior fighting countless enemies!
