Thank you for this class. I repeatedly read so many children's books every day for my two children when they were little. Gradually I guessed the difference of "a" and "the" from frequent patterns, but it's still so confusing when I have to write letters or email ads. I even doubt like "does it really need "the", "a" or none of them?" often. It's always challenging.

I understood your explanation in this way. Is this correct? I saw a cat. = I saw a stray cat. So a cat don't have name. I saw the cat. = I saw Tom's cat. or You and I saw a cat yesterday. So the cat is somebody's pet and has name. Also, the cat is not pet or stray cat but You and I are both recognizing.

you and i both recognize it then "the cat" is right. If I know it is a pet then I know the cat so yes, "the cat" is correct. I think you have a pretty good understanding.

a どれでもいい、任意の一つ the 特定の何か aとtheで、意味が正反対になることがある。 love is A reason why i married her. 結婚した理由はたくさんあったが、愛はたくさんあった理由の一つにすぎない。 love is THE reason why i married her. 愛以外の理由では、結婚しなかった。
it is difficult but please keep trying. I am working on that video. it is a little more difficult to explain than the time of in/on/at but I hope to make it upload it next week
