@@lucialare7590 Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls) Our Primary Vocation is Holiness Happiness is doing the will of God. Interestingly, that could also be the definition of holiness. The primary and universal vocation of every person in the world is to be holy-to become like Jesus Christ. Christ-likeness is the only success recognized by God. Or, as St. Bonaventure said: “If you learn everything except Christ, you learn nothing. If you learn nothing except Christ, you learn everything.”11 Interestingly, the people who take holiness seriously are also the people who experience the most happiness here in this life. Why? Because our holiness is preparing us for the supreme happiness of heaven, the true destiny for which we were made, not some glimmer of happiness which we might experience here. Holiness directly leads to fulfillment and human flourishing, and the entire concept of vocation encompasses both. The first vocation of every baptized person is to become a saint. While that may seem daunting, the good news is that this vocation does not require any discernment. The Church and Sacred Scripture both tell us clearly and definitively that holiness is everyone’s primary vocation. The Church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real though imperfect. In her members, perfect holiness is something yet to be acquired. Strengthened by so many and such great means of salvation, all the faithful, whatever their condition or state-though each in his own way-are called by the Lord to that perfection of sanctity by which the Father himself is perfect.

@@lucialare7590 fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls) The Vocational Pre-Determination by God When I was a vocation director, I would visit the Catholic schools in my diocese to teach the children about vocations. I explained to them that before God had even created the world, he knew them and he loved them. He already knew your name, he knew every thought you would ever think, he knew how many hairs were on your head, he knew your sins, he knew your good deeds, and he even saw the moment of your death and your entrance into heaven. And God had already decided your vocation before he had even made the world! Or at least, he had already planned to which vocation you would be called. When it finally became time for you to be born, God created your soul to go inside your tiny body, and it was created specifically for that pre-determined vocation. I call this concept the vocational pre-determination by God, or vocational pre-destination. If God is calling you to marriage, then he prepared your soul and gave you the gifts of body and soul to live out the vocation of marriage. If God is calling you to priesthood, then your soul and body were made with that vocation in mind. This will be an important hint for you as you discern. Look at the gifts God has given to you and where those gifts are best used to build up the Kingdom.

I've been seriously discerning the Priesthood and Gods calling for me. This path started my senior year of high school after I had a teacher pulled me aside and ask about if I was thinking about being a Priest. Its something that I considered but never put effort into making it grow. I eneded up not acting on that right away. I graduated high school in 2014. I went to College afterwards and failed out. In 2016, I went back to school to become an EMT. Helping others has always been a calling I had. Id drop everything to help others. 5 years later, I experienced an event that I shaped me further and made me begin to seriously discern what I am being called to do. August 29, 2020, I get home from working an overnight shift. I got a call from work, I at first muted the call, but something serious clicked inside me. I answered my phone but was not prepared for the news I got. There was an ambulance accident, my close friend Tonya and a new guy were on their way back to the station from a call. The driver fell asleep and flew off the interstate. Tonya was ejected and died on scene. The time that followed was pure hell, so much pain and weakness. I locked myself in my room the whole week and refused to do anything. I left only to go to her funeral and then returned to my room. I was very depressed, I had enough of the suffering, I reached out to God and begged him to do something or I will. Immediately after I remember a warm feeling embracing me, and the pain and suffering stopped. I felt like I made a wrong turn, and began to return to see where God wanted me to do. The conversation I had with my teacher almost 10 years ago came back into thought very clearly. "Have you thought about being a Priest?" Since then I began to discern the Priesthood, I returned to college to study Theology and Education. I've been performing academically amazing. As each day goes and each meeting I have with my Vocation Director, my path is ver clear. I have a few things to work on, but in 2 years I'll be going to Seminary, at least thats the plan for now. God is in control.

God has given me the special grace to convert through the intercession of the Blessed Mother saving my marriage when I went to Medjugorje 15 years ago. I now have an immense love for the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I do experience a strong desire and joy in receiving Holy Communion and being in a state of grace after my conversion.

Wow! I thought I’d listen to the first 10 minutes while I was driving. I’m a professional trucker and a mom to grown children. I’ve been feeling a little lost in my faith and my life lately. I heard the Lord in your words and recognized his message to me. Thank you and may the Lord continue to nurture your spirit to be a tool for his ministry.

As a musician, the metaphor of the orchestra that everyone had their own part to play really resonated with me. It's similar to how St. Paul writes in the first letter to the Corinthians (13:12-26) that we all have different roles to play and one cannot play another's role because it won't work. Thank you, Word on Fire Institute and Fr Stephen for this film!

I Love Music, too and it was suggested that I become a Priest during my youth, but the only problem was I liked girls,so I kept Harmony via School bands, etc.(Drums) is the lifelong instrument. Perhaps,I could have made it through Theology School or Seminary as I had always enjoyed Church, too.

Thank you "Word on Fire" for this beautiful film that premiered on the feast of Mary Help of Christians. The next day, May 25th marks the 59 anniversary of the ordination of blessed Stanley Rother, the first U.S. born martyr priest to whom father Stephen refers to in the film. I looked him up and since I found it a nice coincidence (a film about the making of a Catholic priest and to remember the ordination date of a blessed priest), I wanted to leave this comment. Also, all is about evangelization, I remind us all that today 451 years ago, the Holy League was created. That brought us the Victory of Christians in Lepanto (near from where I live). May we all remain united in prayer. God bless.

This is an interesting verse about priests Hebrews 10 KJV 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Queen of heaven? 👸 Jeremiah 7 KJV 18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? 20 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

I was looking forward to watching this in its entirety. It was SO worth it! Thank you, Father, for being so open and sharing so much of yourself with us. I can't wait to share your faith and vocation story with our parish teens and adults preparing for the Sacraments. You are so REAL: your pain, your joy, your love for Jesus...thank you for sharing what it means to be a "bold father", father to the fatherless... I don't want to go on forever here. I am just very grateful for what God and you are doing together in your life.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey to your vocation to the priesthood. You have a very realistic and special gift. My heart goes out to you and your family at the loss of your father and sister early in your life. Hello Father Gadberry, being a child of God, "in Gottes Hand", I can see how much you enjoy being close to your flock. It's a different culture here (France), a 'hands-on' priest of your making would be viewed as rather surprising, yet our Bishop is very much intrigued by WOF, I do wish you many fulfilled years to come.

Great witness to the joys and challenges of being a priest. So true that most conversions are more like St. Peter (two steps forward, one step back) than like St. Paul on the road to Damascus. Wonderful to hear your admiration for Pope Francis. Moving to hear of your connection to Blessed Fr. Stan Rother. Young people, hear Fr. Gadberry's story, and then hear God speaking through the story of your life.

I stumbled across this this evening and it is exactly what my heart needed to hear. Your story is so heartfelt so beautiful. I loved your journey and how powerfully and love you are with Christ and with people and your mission. You are a great shepherd for Christ and for his flock. I shared with my nephews and my sisters and I put it on Facebook because I believe you will draw people closer to the Catholic faith. And those who might be interested in what it means to be a Catholic will be inspired by your journey. I loved what you said at the end you’ve inspired me to be not afraid to know that God is directing my path and I just need to let go. I love being Catholic I have never strayed from it and I am a Catholic that loves to learn and deep in my faith. Thank you for sharing this wonderful heartfelt story of your journey to this day.
