Land Before Time came out the same weekend, and critics preferred it over Oliver. I don't know why not just consider them both great. As someone comented before, critics are sometimes out of touch. For some reason they expect every single film to be the saddest, deepest and most original film ever, exaggerate every single defect, and then blame the movies for not meeting their unrealistic expectations the film nevet set out to meet in the first place. Sometimes they just don't see the charm because they're too busy expecting something only they know they want.

It has been 30 years since Oliver & Company came to theaters, it is a modern-day retelling of the classic story Oliver Twist. The film features the voice talents of Billy Joel, Cheech Marin, Richard Mulligan, Dom DeLuise, Roscoe Lee Browne, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Robert Loggia and Bette Midler along with colorful animation and great songs. This is one of those Disney classics that people should know about more often. 🤔

@alexanderpytko53949 жыл бұрын
Abe Israeli Well, it was more Howard Ashman that lead Disney into the New Renaissance. Howard was brilliant. There had never been anyone like since Walt Disney, himself! Howard was even becoming the new Walt Disney. Because of him, Disney was finally able to make their own version of "Beauty and The Beast". Walt Disney had intended to make that his second animated movie when he finished "Snow White" but he just couldn't make it seem as magical as "Snow White" so he put the idea aside and moved on to other ideas and ended up making "Pinocchio" his second magical movie. Howard was a HUGE fan of Disney, especially the earlier movies like "Snow White", "Pinocchio", "Cinderella" and "Peter Pan". He wanted to return Disney to those original roots and he did.
