One of the things I loved about this movie when I watched it as a kid was all of the bright colors in the animation, particularly in the opening scene of the movie when people go to the castle to celebrate the birth of Princess Aurora. I particularly liked how the horses and knights came in many bright colors.

Sleeping Beauty and Mary herself changed my life forever, in that I fell in love with classical music through Tchaikovsky’s score and opera through Mary’s career. I think he'd be so proud at how successful this movie has become in the modern era. The craftman's shift regarding the film reached an appreciation where the average person who isn't a scholar can understand how fantastically creative this film was. That, and Maleficent becoming one of the best villains in Disney history is remarkable.

When I hear about the process of making the movie, Tchaikovsky's score in the background, people talking about just how special and magical this movie truly was, and continues to be; a staple in animation, it stirs something in me. wow...back when Disney movies were 'Classics' and meant something, amazing and hand drawn. I always thought she was the prettiest disney princess. The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella were my top 3 fav disney movies followed closely by Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast. i loved them so much, watched them all the time, i'm 23 and i still love watching them lol, Tangled is now one of my favs, it reminds me of the classic disney.

@thelonleyUchiha1 But you have to applaud Beauty and the Beast cause it wasn't an arranged marriage, the took time to let their love develop, and he risked his life to be with her. Prince Phillip isn't the only one. Besides, belle found love without having the stereotypical prince situation. I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm just saying. Thanks.

I would say that Maleficent is better than the Evil Queen, Maleficent is more powerful, but I really don't think that Maleficent would have been so evil if she would have been invited to the party, but she was just very hurt and she was very angry, her emotions got the better of her.

@GomJabber11 Come on he couldnt even draw Mickey Mouse,the animators did it all.He contributed the making of those films but he didnt made them,so why did he got all the credit and won all those oscars why no credit to the hard working animators.And few personal flaws,i dont think so,more like a lot of personal flaws.Like fireing people on the basic of their religion and race and he was a bitter opponent of womens rights,not to mention he was against trade unions.

That's Snow White. The apple might symbolise contaminated love - self love over the love of others. In Snow White the Queen constantly looks in the mirror asking who is the fairest. She is narcissistic. One day the mirror tells her that one fairer than she has arrived - one capable of truly loving. The only way to undo the curse placed upon Snow White is true love's first kiss. Something similar to Sleeping Beauty only she pricks her finger on a spindle needle. I think in the new Maleficent movie - the innocent blood shed will enter Maleficent's wicked heart and heal it - making it capable of nobler, true love again.

4:06 - One major reason why I don't think Sleeping Beauty holds up very well today is pretty much encapsulated here. The story is so thin it's almost like they didn't even try to do anything really special with it or develop the central characters. Philip and Aurora might as well be Barbie and Ken.
