It is almost impossible to tell what the final product will be, at the beginning it looks like pasta but at the end it look more like a diploma for school graduation.
Well, I still dont know what is that, from what is made and what is it for, but hey, I know how its made now.

amazing. i never realised so much went into the making of this product. also what happens to the scraps and off cuts. are they just thrown. or given away to those in need. or are they given to livestock.

Series "The Making". We will follow the knowledge of what technologies are used by familiar products to convey the origin of things and the relationship between science and technology. The theme of this time is "Hand-made Somen". Salt water is put in the flour only for the noodles, it kneads well, and it becomes a flat "Noshi-moki". After several steps, the oil is applied into a rod shape to prevent dryness and adhesion. After that, it is aged carefully and carefully in the warehouse.
That's a nice sterile factory to produce these? in and then you set them outside for the birds and insects to put the final coating on?? Cheers, Billy in Canada

That 'final coating' by the birds is also part of the manufacturing process. 😉
