I was never a hippie, but Mama Cass was a very nice woman with a wonderful voice. I feel sad when I think about the situation in the USA today. The country really deserves good politicians and not people who use patriotism and religion to make people aggressive. I hope the future will get better again at some point. I hope a new generation will end this current atmosphere of hate.

@ oh yeah, thanks for reminding me!! Loved them. I was (and still am) a 60’s and 70’s AM junkie. The first two songs I committed to memory when I first heard them on the radio (around 1970 and 1971) were Band of Gold by the queen Freda Payne, and Brother Louie by Stories which for decades I firmly believed was a black R&B group.

What a shame such a wonderful performer was forced to mime/lip sync her performance though. Notice how she wasn’t mic’d up and she kept strumming after the song had already ended. It’s not her fault at all, I just wish she would’ve been able to *actually* perform her beautiful music live on the program.

I loved the music segments. I even loved the Honeycone and the video graphics. But I hated the skits that Martin Landau and Barbara Bain were in. They added nothing to the show. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the great rapport between Cass and Buddy Hackett. The sketches they were in were sweet, especially the hospital sketch.

Shame that sound and image get out of synch for the last part. Was pleasantly suprised by the chimestry between Hackett and Cass, standout number was the girls trio doing I shall be released, digged that Mamma was singing along during Joni's song. This said, the show belonged to its era , and besides a few highlites has not aged that well.

This TV special was not what I was expecting to see. This show was not worthy of this talented wonderful singer. She hardly had any time to sing with all of the boring guests taking up practically all of the time. However, she finally did get to sing one very beautiful song all alone 'I Can Dream, Can't I". Why wasn't she allowed to do more? She appears to be only another guest and not starring in her own TV special!
