I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Cass at a store on Sunset Blvd. when I was a child. She was shopping ahead of my mother and me and I kept whispering in a loud voice to my mom "That's Mama Cass, that's Mama Cass!" My mother kept shushing me; Cass turned to my mother and said "That's okay, it's all good"...she chatted with me and couldn't have been sweeter. I thought she was beautiful and marvelous. A great memory that has lasted a lifetime. 😀xoxo!!!

Cass Elliot’s role in bringing together the Laurel Canyon scene of the mid-late 1960s CANNOT be underestimated. Through her front door paraded the who’s-who of young Hollywood at the time, along with the A-List of iconic rockers. If it hadn’t had been for her, we may have never heard the glorious harmonies of CSN (and sometimes Y), as well as the entire lineup of The Monterey Pop Festival. To all of this I say well done to an immense talent that we lost entirely too soon. RIP, Cass.

Cass had so much more to give- taken far too soon. I'm certain she would've thrived in the era when the old American Songbook catalogue became popular again and Natalie Cole/Linda Ronstadt had big success with the material- Cass would've fitted right in that pocket. She was supposed to tape a big BBC TV Special in London but of course we know the tragic circumstances that took place that August 50 years ago. So glad we're able to see these old classic shows thanks to You Tube

"New World Coming" epitomized the optimism that younger people had for a brighter future in the 1970s. Unfortunately roadblocks were put up towards that brighter future with the advent of the Reagan years in the 1980s, and it's been a struggle ever since then to gain even a little bit of the future they envisioned. Neo-conservatism has done a lot of damage to the United States.
