I have to say kids on the slope really affected me, but I have a personal connection to the show. My father is exactly their age, born in 1950, he was also half Japanese half American living in Kyushu right off of an army base. And because of this connection I was profoundly moved to see the world he grew up in. My father is almost 70 now and we both watched the series last year and were in tears, coming from a father that is both Japanese and a military guy, who went to Vietnam, experiencing a moment like that was unreplaceable.

@@Stevem The music in Samurai Champloo is what makes all the difference to me. At the time before watching Samurai Champloo, music never really meant much to me until I heard the music. No joke it just hits me differently. Notably, Nujabes (i don’t mean to discredit others who worked on the music) who I still listen till this day. Sorry for the late reply ulul

Fun fact: the song “counting stars “ you like so much is actually a redo of the original “affirmation “ by the legendary jazz guitarist George benson. You should really listen to the original sometime it’s a beautiful song and benson was so talented it almost hurts my soul lol.
