I'm a 3rd generation carpenter. People who are not in the business have no idea what they are witnessing. I challenge anyone here to build just one of those wall panels by hand and have it fit those openings. This may be my most favorite video on KZbin, and I hope the film maker wins some awards for their work and lovely editing. Thank you for posting this. I only saw one flaw in a staircase and as expected, it had been corrected in a later shot. Decades ago, somebody took a picture of me looking out a framed window opening on my own house out in the woods just like shown here @ 28:00, and that REALLY got me, as I knew his exact feeling.

My grandfather came from China to South East Asia as a housebuilder and carpenter more than 100 years ago. He can build a house and make furnitures without using nails. Unfortunately, craftsmen like him are non existent in South East Asia today as machineries and automations ( production lines ) took over and the young prefer less tedious jobs.

Tell me how this construction stands up with just mortise and tenon joints, explain to me how these tiles fit on the roof without mortar or nails??? It's MAGIC!!! ...and spectacular. The craftsmanship is incredible. I sometimes have trouble with some Chinese renovation videos, but this is thumb up and I applaud. Congratulations.

Here’s my question it is not insulated,, it’ll get very cold during winter,, and the roof it only has those tiles on it so if it was really really windy, the tiles would fall off

A good question. The same thought came to my mind. I live in a wooden house, but in South East Asia. A tropical climate where it never falls below 13 degrees Celsius. Unlike in China with very cold weather ❄☃️

How are the roof tiles secured to the purlins?

they aren't secured like how japanese and korean tile roofs that has locking mechanisms in them, those are only stacked from each other and that's how they don't move at all. Some parts of it though had mortars applied to them like shown in the video.

gravity- they sit up there and most have a tiny ridge molded in for spacing and interlocking. The only ones that are mortered are the ridges

в этом регионе климат очень влажный. Древесина всегда в увлажненном состоянии. Влажно и тепло... Я бы не назвал это строение Домом. это скорее всего укрытие от дождя и ветра. А так же от солнца. переночевал и сново в поле рис сажать...
