Trisha Sheshadri No one quite knows the consequences of time travel, The Flash is a science fiction show that deals with fiction consequences but if we’re gonna talk about “time travel” we might as well add in how differently time travel works in the Marvel Universe, In the marvel universe, messing with time will just create a different timeline that’s connect with the original one but will not affect the timeline in which we left but it doesn’t work that way when it comes to the flash, In the Flash, you mess with time, you rupture the Time Barrier causing catastrophic events but since no one human has ever time traveled we may not be sure, These may not even be the consequences for time travel

The reason stephen hawking said it could be possible to use it as a time travel device is because physics has a weird property that the denser something is (the more gravity something has) the slower the time flows around that object. The deeper you go into the gravitational field, the slower time will flow. so if the large hadron colider were to create something so dense that it could be greater than the earth's gravitational pull, time would indeed flow much slower around that area. so it wouldnt teleport you into the future, but you would just kindof sit there and be in slow motion for the rest of the world. Where maybe 5 years would pass for the "outside world", 3 years would pass for the person close to the dense object. Now, is it safe to create something that dense? no. it would literally destroy everything around it, throw earth off its orbit, and probably cause the moon to crash into the earth.

a particle Accelerator can theoretically be used to travel forward in time, seeing as how travelling closer to the speed of light slows down the time for the particles. so like said in the video ,if we build a particle accelerator that can send a human moving close to the speed of light, the time for the human is slowed down compared to those who are living outside achieving time travel

@ddmagee575 жыл бұрын
What comic books have you been reading, or do you just make things up as you go? A particle can only approach c, then it's mass increases. That's why we kept building bigger accelerators, to smack more and more massive particles together.
@speedy012475 жыл бұрын
Nothing can surpass the speed of light, which is probably why time seems to freeze when you reach that speed. Perhaps the reason light is the speed limit is cause time seems to stop for things moving at that speed maybe it's not impossible, but it just takes eternity to surpass that speed cause time moves so slow for the object. Anyway the only exit once you hit light speed is for something to interact with you in a way that slows you down to exit light speed. An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon and as you are "stuck in the moment" something else will have to act. (I included the last sentence just for that poor excuse for a joke)

Nothing with mass can travel at the speed of light
@abod43705 жыл бұрын
At 6:47 he said something about the particles moving so fast they could travel 6 billion miles in 10 hours. That's pretty darn close to the speed of light that would travel a little over 6.7 billion miles per hour. Our solar system is much wider that 6 billion miles in diameter, so to say that it would travel the the end and back within that time frame means that it's faster than light. Also, this could be a forewarning on what would happen if we attempt to travel at the speed of light. The amount of radiation we would get from that would be astronomical for traveling for a few minutes. Now imagine a few years of what that guy had just went through for mere seconds standing still. If we attempt to travel at the speed of light (or close to it) we would hit so many radiation pockets and absorb such an amount so quickly we would be dead in less than a second. Not to mention that every part of our bodies would have to travel at the exact same speed to maintain our human shape.

A couple of notes: - Rossler believed it may cause potentially destroy the earth but he's not a physicist - Stephen Hawking never believed time travel was possible
@TH3M0L3CUL3M4N3 жыл бұрын
Finally, someone who's paying attention. As the story goes, Stephen Hawking once held an extravagant champagne party and nobody attended. It wasn't until after the party that he sent out invitations. That was his proof that _backwards_ time travel doesn't exist. The man had a sense of humor. As for Rosslers alarmist claims: they've been thoroughly debunked. It's much more likely the LHC could trigger vacuum decay, and the probability of that is next to nil.

I believe that this particular machine may have potential for time travel with further development and external factors accounted for. The greatest problem with the concept of time travel is how to send that information about matter instantaneously through space without disturbing laws of entropy on which spacetime is an exisiting relation theoretically. In fact, it is difficult to even consider how to reverse time since it acts related upon a theoretical basis. So as far as I know, it may be only possible to slow down or stop time for an instant but even more difficult to reverse it in formal principle. For today, it think it could be considered for perhaps teleportation or experiencing travel in zero time rather than time reversal.

One could create a faster then light vessel and travel a vast faster then the speed of light in an elliptical orbit to create a phenomenon where energy and matter arrived on a voyage to earth before it ever left. Steven hawking named this theory after himself somehow, so I've heard it is accepted but not currently testable do to the lack of faster then light travel that could be achieved by the acceleration of an antimatter reaction. Lets say you left on this faster then light voyage and traveled 10 light years in 10 years because you were going conveniently as fast as light energy for the sake of easy calculation. If you could double this by kicking on the antimatter drive and return in 5 years you would beat the energy and matter you were made up of back to its origin and Earth would appear like it had 5 years before you departed. However 15 years would have passed for your you and your vessel because it was still its ordinary self for all the time that elapsed after you left. (You want a viable cryogenic suspension facility available on board to slow your aging or this time travel is not going to be very beneficial to your lifespan.) You could repeat this time defying voyage as many times as you wanted given that you had the proper amount of fuel and set the earth back a few years every time you completed your time displacing orbit. The interesting thing about this that Hawking didn't reveal is that with this form of time travel, even if you went back and altered the past so you were never born, you would still exist because you were only in other parts of the universe and arrived on an earth that no longer existed. What you have done is chased down a transmission that no longer existed because you had a way to travel faster then the medium it was broadcast upon. in essence it would be like breaking the sound barrier to catch up to waves of a sound you heard in the past if sound could travel that far.

Why havent people liked this comment?!?

If you wanted to simplify you could say, if you were going fast enough and time was altered your conscious would be 15 years and you would have spent 15 years but you would come back not 15 because time was altered, that also happens when astronauts go to different planets

"Nobody had ever come in contact with radiation traveling at light speed before" You do realise that all radiation, by definition, travels at light speed, because radiation in this context is the emission of light (electromagnetic radiation) which has a constant speed of the speed of light
@ejk45555 жыл бұрын
Yall really should have mentioned that the danger from x# of greys of radiation to a human body ASSUMES constant exposure over a 5 minute period. 3,000 greys of ionizing radiation would have UNDOUBTEDLY killed him and anyone else if we assumed a 5 minute constant exposure (even 5 greys is almost always fatal for such a prolonged exposure) - however, this guy's exposure time can only be measured in planck-scale time increments, and that's a really significant factor as to why he wasn't literally fking melting by the time he made it to the ER
