Doesn't really seem like he's complaining, so much as he is describing the challenges that he's facing. Anyone who is the first time in a new place will react in some sort of negative way. Nothing new there. But it is an amazing thing that he did, and hats off to him for that, it's pretty inspirational

But then at the same time, he is was in a very privileged position to be able to do what he did. He should be more appreciative of simple food, despite the quality of it. There are people in some parts of the world who are starving to death, let alone unable to travel the whole planet!

yeah pretty amazing...not only is he doing all the riding and support but also doing all the filming it appears....quite an accomplishment

Matthias Schulze Apparently not doing all the filming - what about the shots from far away of him riding?
@matthiasschulze3939 жыл бұрын
yes these are great shots...I believe he sets up the camera at a distant point and then rides off into the field of view...then stops circles back and retrieves the camera..which is a lot of work when you start thinking about doing that, but he had plenty of time
@DavidKlausa9 жыл бұрын
Matthias Schulze Ah, that could be. But it would be very risky to leave a camera for a few minutes if there are any people nearby, especially since most people are watching this weird foreigner's every move.
@matthiasschulze3939 жыл бұрын
Mr Klausa, I agree completely, he may find helpful people along the way to do it for him, but he was alone for the trip

The focus on hardship rather than on the journey is quite off-putting. Yes, we get that he's a vegetarian - I am at 4:20 and am already tired of hearing it. I know it's part of the experience but there comes a point where you need to be pragmatic. You need to (a) be pragmatic and eat what's available because there are people in some of these countries he's visiting who are starving and (b) he is choosing to cycle around the world - no one is forcing him.

The worst part is through Iran, the country has no cyclists and just doesn't support this sort of thing, the same goes for all the middle east.

@mishka78310 жыл бұрын
I really can't believe that he didn't plan his food for the trip. He seems totally unaware of sports nutrition and diet. He could have easily filled up a bag with dried fruits like dates, bananas that would give him lots of carbs to ride on. Just can't believe watching him starving ang riding on biscuits and cholocate. Unbelievable.

Yeah as others said you have no clue, 7000 calories a day of dried fruits for just a few days would weigh more than he could ever carry. Many endurance athletes eat junk food on trips like this its the only way to get enough calories so he needs all he can get when he can get it.

Muslim countries is the main reason im inwilling to cycle around the world. Even though have been thinking about going at least to asia.trouble is there's isnt really any way around the middle east. Russia might be too cold but the only option.
@assadk79013 жыл бұрын
I cycled from Istanbul to Malaysia and it was totally safe. I was with white Americans and French. You'll be surprised how hospitable the middle east is. You just need to have respect and understanding for different culture. It is actually an obligation in Islam to help a traveller and give him help/food.
