Actually Pilate had no wish to crucify Jesus, He saw that this was a power play by the Sadjucees (spelling is probably wrong, I'm no biblical scholar) and he wanted nothing to do with it. He knew Jesus hadn't done anything to deserve crucifiction but when given a chance to save this man, the jews requested the life of a man who was a truly violent criminal. He washed his hands of the blood. Also by this point many romans had started following Jesus.

Jesus Christ was more than just a good person, more than just a great teacher. He is and was the Almighty God in the flesh, manifest as a human being. His works and deeds attest to that, as do His disciples/historical accounts, and most importantly God Himself affirms who Jesus is. Please I implore you friends, that Jesus is real, and that He walked out of His tomb those many years ago, and is alive today. He willingly took the punishment for all of our sins, so that we can be redeemed and set free from slavery to sin. He said in John 6:37 that He'll never refuse anyone who comes to Him. Because every single world-renowned atheist acknowledges the historical value and irrefutable eye-witness accounts given in scripture. In fact, they are so accurate that the historicity of the Bible is used as a rubric to guide historians and scholars to understanding the events that unfolded in the society and culture of ancient Judea and Ancient Roman provinces. Even Ancient Roman scholars such as Josephus and Cicero acknowledged the validity of the Scriptures, in addition to almost every subsequent historian, scholar, scientist, inventor, and more, from Da Vinci to Isaac Newton. To make the statement that the Bible has no historical validity will have you laughed out of any serious debate.

Scorsese's movie was based on Greek Nikos Kazatzakis' novel! The fun fact is that Greek priests also excommunicated Kazatzakis for it, because they saw it as an attack to their hypocrisy and power too! Kazantzakis later was two times considered for the Nobel prize, but both times the Greek state itself did everything in their power to prevent this award to their fellow countryman, even sending emissaries to Sweden to beg, because he was their political opponent. The third time the Swedish academy considered him for the prize, he died before he had the chance, in 1957 !

Jesus was carrying his cross to the spot, when he fell, with a few hundred pound cross, on his back. The gaurd then made someone else help him. When he fell, on his chest, he likely bruised his heart. Then when he was stretched out, on the cross, his already bruised heart was probably beating, against his ribs. That is definitely going to cause a heart attack. A lot of people think it was something special when he said "It is finished." However anyone that is having a bad heart attack will know that it is done. That is why I believe he died from a heart attack, and no death blow.

Don't think about it too much. Jesus being the Son, the Father, and Holy spirit. Might be just one of the many writers interpretation of whom he was. In reality he'd probably just a incredibly wise man, who got crucified. I'm Christian by the way, and I don't even believe too much into Jesus being a God. But him being a messiah" however, that I believe.

The Crucifixion of Jesus is such an important matter in Heaven that God literally sent His 2nd most trusted angel - The Archangel Gabriel (Brother of Archangel Michael) to personally supervise and oversee the whole process. Gabriel was there among the crowd.

@@KeithMcormack895 yes, it was recorded that a random man was there among the crowd, he was with the Roman soldiers when Jesus was led up to the hill however people eventually realised he didn't belong there (also his dressing is weird, it seems very out-of-place) and tried to grab him but he managed to wriggle free and escaped. They tried to chase after him but he vanished. That was the Archangel Gabriel.
