How is it that this song from1970. 51 years ago still sound like it’s futuristic? I was 14 then. Now 65. It still sounds like something for 2040. And I love that. Plus it’s not the only Bowie song that give this feeling.

If I said there was a magical entity called a "ek", you couldn't disprove it's existence but you shouldn't believe me because i've provided no evidence of it's existence. The same goes for God, Heaven, Hell, Fairies, etc. There is no evidence of their existence so you have to be pretty gullible to believe in them.

Fighting not for country, not for government, but for ourselves. We need no reason to fight. We fight because we are needed. We will be the deterrent for those with no other recourse. We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the era we live in. We will sometimes have to sell our selves and services. If the times demand it, we will be revolutionaries, criminals, terrorists, and yes, we may all be headed straight to hell. But what better place for us than this? It is our only home. @nashvillevaper52399 жыл бұрын
+RaptorRoll - Just wondering something. Have you lost a parent to death? Or a spouse? Or a close friend? If not, your question is understandable in the sense that you really don't have a way to comprehend why people react the way they do when an important person in their life passes. If so, did you just shrug your shoulders and say, "oh well, people die every day" and go on your merry way? Surely not. Bowie's death was a "shock" to many because 1) His illness was only known by a very small number of people...it was not public knowledge. 2) To many people, he was more than just a talented entertainer. He touched the hearts and minds of quite a few people and his music was a big part of their lives. So, even though they didn't know him personally, they felt the impact of his death personally.

I agree with you. cobain's version is just as good as the original because of how careful he was about covering other people's work--and his scratchy voice adds effect. all in all, obviously, kids that grew up in the '90s are gonna be more familiar with the nirvana version and like it better as where kids that grew up in the '70s will be more familiar with the original. this is a rare example of a cover version actually being as good as the original. think about "something in the air." thunderclap or tom petty? both also perfect. but I still like the heartbreakers version better. This is my favorite version, Nirvana did do a great cover but you really can't beat the atmosphere/aesthetic of the original song. I love this so much
@galvaradodurand5 жыл бұрын
Opino lo contrario, la atmósfera acorde a la canción es impuesta por los instrumentos de cuerda en el unplugged de Nirvana. Los aplausos en esta versión desmejoran la canción, creo.

I can't believe how many idiots are out there. Bowie wrote this song, Twiggy covered it in the late 70's and Kurt in the 90's. Many other artists too but those were the more popular versions. He also had cancer for 18 months prior to his depart not AIDS you sickos.

I think its decent but I wouldn't say 10 out 10.. I mean Bowie is one of the greatest artists ever but he wrote the album when he was 22-23 and much like Hunky Dory its far far from being flawless and while the foundations of what would eventually become quintissentially Bowie are certainly there, its still quite unclear.
@NumeroTredici10 жыл бұрын
I am a nirvana fan. The amount of comparison between the original piece and nirvanas cover is never ending. Over at nirvana's cover of this song, the comments section is much more peaceful. Those who didn''t know that this is a david bowie's original accepted the fact as soon as they learnt. Even kurt cobain said that this was a david bowie song. Trolls will be trolls. Don't feed them by responding.
