YES ! Garry Kasparov, in classical slow chess, had beaten Anand 16 times and lost just 6 with 32 draws between them. If we include Rapid chess (Blitz chess wasn’t a thing for most of Kasparov’s time of chess dominance at least not at his level) and exhibition games then the numbers swing even farther towards Kasparov’s favor - he won 26 games to Anand’s 8 with them having 43 draws between them.

This event ended the 2nd of June of 1996. Miguel Illescas Córdoba got his highest ever FIDE rating, 2640, the month after this tournament, July 1996. #vastknowledge And yes to the Anand Kasparov game!

Anand has a book, and he definitely overcame a lot of challenges as an Indian chess player. He wasn't always invited to the elite chess tournaments even though he was an elite player. So I please request you to make an Anand saga based on his autobiography.

In Spanish naming conventions, the paternal surname follows the first name, then the maternal surname, so he would be Miguel Illescas. (Cordoba would be his mother's maiden name).

As always, excellent video Agad. Just one thing: Miguel has a Spanish Name so his first Last Name is Illescas, not Córdova. We have a paternal Last Name and a maternal Last Name but the father's last name is usually preferred. That's why Capablanca is known as Capablanca. His first last name is Capablanca.

At 6:40 I thought Qf3. The white rook has to go to f1, and the Queen can pick up the e3 pawn. The black rook will now be able to position itself under the white b pawn, but the white rook cannot attack the black d-pawn.

Why not Qf3 at the pause the video moment? It doesn't look like white can both defend the pawn(s) and protect against checkmate after this move, at the very least you will get one of the pawns, but maybe I'm missing something...

2nd: Hans Niemann = next Bobby Fischer - Wesley So = current Bobby Fischer - Bobby Fischer's ghost = old Bobby Fischer - Beth Harmon = Bobby Fischer in another universe Each of these 4 'is a prodigy, had a rather dark childhood and is American'. Speaking of Wesley So Hikaru's (the rapid WFRCC) wife almost beat Wesley So's (the classical WFRCC) girlfriend! 2023 USCC - Indeed Carissa Yip won and thanked Wesley So as her secret second in the 2023 USCC closing ceremony speech. But in Carissa vs Atousa, Carissa was losing most of the game. Atousa just blundered in the end. move 54 for black is an 8-move equality puzzle it's so sharp [Variant "From Position"] [FEN "1Q5k/3r1rn1/p3N3/Pp1p2P1/1q2p3/1B2R2P/5P2/6K1 b"] 1...
