I think having grogu gone for at least 4-5 episodes would have made it better for when they reunited and they could have done more character stuff for each, apart

While you may be right from a story-telling point of view, Grogu is Disney+'s cash cow. They were never going to bench him for that long. There was an entirely different series that was intended to focus on a wholly different character and they didn't bench him for that long even there. For better or worse, whatever one might think of it, they're out there to make money. The bottom line is the bottom line.

@@Bad_Wolf_Media But they didn´t need to bench him. They could´ve given him a separate storyline training with Luke, maybe going thru some Jedi tests that would make him comfront the traumas of what happened to him in the last few decades since Order 66.

He's on a multiple episode, maybe season long fetch quest where he needs to bathe in the waters, and to do that he needs to get the robot, and to do that he needs to get the parts...all so Mando can officially be a Mandalorian again. Except...why do we care? He's got the armor, the weapons, the ship - why do we care that he does all this to be back in the Mandalorian club? Does he get to hang out in the official clubhouse? Are they gonna say "Ok, you're Mandalorian now" and that's it, that's the payoff for all this, roll credits? Why do we really care? It doesn't seem like a real story, just content to fill time - like a fetch quest. Is this really Star Wars storytelling now - a tired technique games use to pad out time?

Yeah what is the story like he just unites the Mandalore and becomes King of Mandalore? Just as long as he does his fetching and stepping and killing and now he IS KING. I quit all of this after the hilariously bad last episode of BoBF for the same reason. I think the Lucasfilm marketing department realized sending Grogu to Luke killed their little green golden goose. Now people are theorizing the IG parts will be used as a robotic conveyance for him....which will be even more bad hilarity.

Such a weird first episode. It was both too much and not enough at the same time. And if I'm being honest, I'm not looking forward to an entire season of buildup to Mando taking a bath. It's either other new content gets pushed to the side or dialogue feels unnatural because it's just exposition dumps. There's no complete fix for that. On the flip side, anyone who wants to catch up has two completely feasible options. Either watch Boba fett on the same streaming service you're already watching Mando or watch a 5 minute KZbin season summary video. Those choices span nearly zero commitment to full and both will teach you more that you need to know than an exposition dump. Not trying to be a jerk but I never understood compromising a shows integrity even the slightest bit just too cover story you already did. Idk though maybe I'm just built different from all the pain and turmoil that comes with being an anime fan lol. From filler list and reading subtitles all the way to researching a tie in light novel that gives better character insight. You gotta take initiative with the media you enjoy. People can't always expect it fed to them. Ps. Sorry about my rant lol.

@shanetaylor761 I think not showing the reunion of Grogu and Mando in the Mandalorian IS compromising the integrity of the show. The Mandalorian is primarily about the two of them and their journey, and I don't like that a huge plot point was resolved in another show which I didn't watch because I didn't want to. No offense to anyone who likes Boba Fett or that character, I simply wasn't interested enough to watch it. It would have been okay to have either Grogu or Mando show up there, but both together reuniting there seems like a plot to force people like me to watch a show we don't want to watch.

This has been the worst season ever. One of the worst openings from any show this year. Should have kept Grogu with Luke obviously and returned him later. And written a decent storyline. The start was so boring and stupid. "I need that droid..." side quest! "I really need that droid!" side quest! "This shitty droid will do... Oh, gotta go save the shitty droid, and look it told me something we already knew! Air = breathable!" Near a body of water? Monster attack. In a cave? Monster attack. Another body of water? Another monster attack. And Din does NOT shut the fuck up. He just phones in some dumbass lines, thank god Bokatan carrying it with minimal emotion and an actual plot given to her. The last scene was ridiculous and kinda funny. He takes 3 steps and falls down a labyrinth of water somehow faster than she could jetpack down to the bottom lol

The IG droid will most likely be used just as a more convenient means for Grogu to get around, so it will probably be rebuilt/repurposed in a certain way so as to be capable of carrying Grogu around the inside of it so that he can more easily get around/keep up with the Mando, and additionally as armored protection against outside threats…plus most importantly it will also surely be built in with some sort air purification filtering system to protect him against the toxic elements on/beneath the surface of Mandalore…basically like a highly customized mecha suit of sorts. So if they do it like this, then I might not have anything against that then, and who knows 🤷‍♂️ it might actually be pretty cool to see! As for Mando, on the other hand, I’m not so sure what precautions he himself will take to further protect his body from deadly environmental conditions of the planet. I guess we shall find out soon enough…🤖🦾

About your point why Mando went to the armorer again: I believe they tried to be clever about catching people up, who didn't see BoBF. It feels repetetive, when you know what happend, but I watched it with a friend who didn't know and he was happy for this exposition. Basically a recap within the show. Seeing that it was wierd anyways that they decided to have a Mando Season 2.5 within another show this might have been the best way to catch people up. But I personally would have preferred the story to progress instead of procrastinate. Ah well, still loved the first episode. :)
@incredibilistic
@incredibilistic Жыл бұрын
What's weird is the recap they chose was designed to shape the narrative to start the season, which is Din reclaiming his honor as a Mandalorian, which is something I'm not sure why anyone would care about. Frankly I'm not sure why anyone would want to be part of their tribe. What about being a Mando is worth never being able to show your face again and being forced to drink from a straw or lifting up your helmet just enough to eat and drink? Furthermore, why would a kid choose this lifestyle? The only thing I've ever seen from the Mando tribe is that they're lone gunmen/women who choose to live underground. I also found it weird that Mando can only redeem his honor by returning to his home world while the kid they indoctrinated and helmeted forever can stand in what appears to be a random lake/ocean and be considered one of them. Why couldn't Din just use that same water? If that lake/ocean is good enough to enshrine a kid why can't it be good enough to redeem a current member? My point is now that Grogu for no other reason than to be cute, I'm not sure why I should be invested in this show. What Mando such an interesting figure in the first two season was that he was a ruthless bounty hunter with a heart of gold who went against everything he's ever known in order to save a child. But now that Grogu is his sidekick again why should I care about this character? What about his journey is interesting, compelling or necessary? But I digress. I'm not a fan of how the show's going so far and considering how cartoony and silly it already is I don't have a lot of hope for the remainder of the season. Something tells me that they had enough content for 2 seasons but because the Star Wars sequel trilogy was a complete and utter turd as well as the bombshell sales of Grogu toys, they had no choice but to continue making content but have zero good ideas left. We maybe entering last-two-seasons-of-Game-of-Thrones territory.

Mando should be by himself for at least a whole season, to flesh out his growing relationships with other characters. This show is getting tiresome with all the fan service and now heavy on the “tell/ not show”. We don’t need constant narration, it’s insulting and takes away from how a character would actually act. Are you going to review The Last of Us, the other big show of the moment? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

The first episode had really bad storytelling. It was just connecting dots from waypoint to waypoint of one boring fetchquest. No subtext, character development, or suspense building. The conflicts are all surface level. A few pirates that cannot get into their favorite bar? Really? I think I'm spoiled by "Andors" excellent writing.

Now having seen episode 3, your contrast with Andor is much more true, as this latest episode is VERY Adnoresque compared to previous Mandalorian episodes.

I was bored the whole time and running my eyes. And I loved the first season and found the second one fine. Spoiled by Andor perhaps. I don't say it lightly but season 3 is trash so far (not a dig on the production values which are excellent)

Mandalorian writing and dialogue are cringy, it’s glaringly awful especially compared to the brilliance of Andor

After the ret-con of the second season's climax in the Book of Boba Fett, I have zero faith that they are going to hit the mark with this show.

So in order for me to pick up where I left off on this show, I have to watch episodes of another show that I have zero interest in? I’m out. I will let the great end of season two be my series finale

Honestly if you view season 3 and book of boba Fett as one entire entity of “season 3” then this makes a little more sense as a middle of the season episode instead of a season 3 opening episode

Ist right back to garbage, i somehow anticipated this. Andor wasn‘t a change in direction for the better, it was a lucky accident. Seen the first Episode, won‘t bother watching the rest.

For having more episodes it felt like you didn't pay attention to episode 1....he brought the armorer more information and an item...but sure ignore it for your channel narrative.

I understand the pretense for the scene - but story-wise, I didn't see why it was included. It didn't change his goal. Of all the channels on this site, I think you'll find I'm one of the ones that actually doesn't have a narrative, other than liking to talk about movies and TV.

It’s not an unusual thing for critics to get advance copies of episodes, or movies for that matter. It’s just another part of the rollout for almost every movie or show.

Why not just make a longer episode I wonder? It's not like they have to cut it to length for a network. It's a streaming series. They could make a single episode 4 hours long if they wanted. Half the time they're less than 30 minutes when you take out the ridiculously long end credits so why not stretch it out a little. Strange choice.

Din Djarin is too much for me now. He's got the strongest armor in the galaxy, the weapon that one shots everybody, he's got the fastest ship in the galaxy, its almost a joke, then he goes to the Pirate Captain and is just like haha bye, flies away (hasn't anyone ever thought of just flying away or did Din get the only ship that can ever do that?) also he is basically the actual Leader of the Mandalorians. Yes ALL the Mandalorians were unable to beat the giant croc thing that they failed to scout out first but good thing Din is their to ONE SHOT IT. Its like some 8 year old's fantasy character not an actual flawed character or at least a character you believe could ever lose.

@@DanMurrellMovies I fold mine and stack them on the shelves in the closet or chest of drawers , I only hang jackets and trousers . Hanging T-shirts seems like it would be an inefficient use of storage space but to each their own I've just never seen or heard of anyone hanging them.

Just watched ep1 of S3, and my god . . . what an absolute waste of time. The dialogue was worse than most of that in The Book of Boba Fett, and Favreau (the writer for ep1) was clearly cribbing from the JJ Abrams school of "Ah, now we can talk---------- INTERRUPTION VIA STORYLESS ACTION!". What the hell is going on with this series? I'm curious if Filoni have a bet with each other to see how much they can phone in this season and still keep their jobs.

Waste of time to learn where Djin’s next covert is located, what the creed actually means to Djin and his faith which he’s mocked for, what’s Djin’s main quest is to redeem himself for the season, the status of Navarro and old ally, learn who threatens Navarro, what the next subplot is to complete his quest, where the mines are located in order to complete his quest, where the rest of the mandalorian army is located. Basically, the season’s entire premise and all subplots 28 minutes was a waste of time?? You’re a different level of hater. I suspect another season of great reviews, high ratings, and multiple emmy/golden globe nominations like the first two times
