Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down The Mandalorian. Season 3 episode 1 is now here and throughout this video we're gonnagoing through the brand new entry and all the star wars easter eggs in it.
This season is building off the back of the book of Boba Fett and as I know a lot of you missed that I wanna give a quick recap incase you're scratching your head over why Grogu and Mando are back together.
In the final handful of episodes we watched Mando finding the armorer which is where he practiced his skills with the darksaber. Because he was at odds with himself he couldn't properly yeild it and he was told that he needed to regain his honor after removing his helmet.
He must return to the living waters beneath Mandalore which will sort of provide a baptism for the character.
This has left him as an apostate which means someone who has abandoned a religious or political principle. Mandos cult were told not to remove their helmets no matter what and on the opposite side of this we've seen Bo Katans group are happy to do this.
This could potentially lead into a civil war and judging by the trailer that's the way that things could be going. We've had the death watch battling the pacifist leaders of Mandalore and Civil Wars throughout the saga so it's definitely on brand. Each side always tend to seek the Darksaber which is gonna become a big weapon in this season.
After gaining a new ship he went to visit Luke and Grogu in order to find peace but after some advice from Ahsoka he decided not to interfere with his training. However, Ellie...sorry Grogu decided to go back to his dad and we watched as the pair were reunited towards the end of the season.
Now from here on out it's full spoilers ahead so if you haven't had a chance to check it out then I highly recommend that you check out now. Got a couple things wrong when I came to the section about the relic from Mandalor. Sabines invention didn't disintegrate bescar, it would super heat it burning the wearers to ash within the suit. Second the domed cities on Mandalor was not made of bescar that just was not a practical option. Third they dropped nukes on Mandalor hence the reference to fusion Turing the surface to glass it wasn't Sabines invention that was destroyed before the empire could replicate it.

Idk if this has come up in earlier episodes but I'm pretty sure Karga refusing to use Grogu's real name is a reference to how most people still prefer to call him Baby Yoda. Also, I don't think the pirates were Weequay; they look familiar but idk what they actually are. Despite the short runtime, I loved it. Seeing the Armorer and Paz again with more of the Children of the Watch, how Nevarro has changed and their looming pirate problem, and of course Bo-Katan and Mando's journey to what remains of Mandalore. Extremely hyped to see how all those events turn out!

Two years? Okay, no matter what anyone says about Grogu "becoming" Luke's first student, the truth is, if he's been studying with Luke for two YEARS, he was Luke's student. Anyone who disputes that doesn't know what "student" means.

No it was actually a quote that people took out of context and ran with it. He was talking about how it has been 2 years (in real time, not within the SW universe) since Season 2. It doesn't really answer the question of how long Grogu was with Luke, but if you rewatch the Mando and Grogu episodes in the Book of Boba Fett, it doesn't really make sense for it to have been 2 years since Grogu has been with Luke. It also doesn't make much sense for there to have been 2 years that Boba was running Tatooine before Mando showed up. Yeah, there's just a lot of things that don't make sense for it to have been 2 years. It's crazy how many people were posting about it last night without even properly looking into the quote or even just thinking about it. Now there's a lot of people who will go on thinking that it's 100% canon. I personally think it makes sense for there to be like maybe 2-3 months AT MOST between Mando S2 and BOBF, and then maybe the same or a bit longer between BOBF and Mando S3

Great CGI! The planets, aliens and creatures all looked very realistic. The CGI Techs on the Mando Show need to hold a Master Class for the Marvel folks. Like yesterday! Loved the "Mando Baptism" scene blending religious elements with a Monster VS man Fight Scene. Really glad Din Djarin saved the day. Great space battle. Din turned the pirates into jelly. My only criticism is of the Nevarro Scene. Dialogue was very clunky between Greef Karga & Din, and the failed resurrection of IG-11 was kinda stupid. Overall, this was a great start to SE3. I give it a 7.5/10 or 4/5. Great to have Jon Favreau back!!

"Skippy the Jedi Droid", written by one of my favorite Comic Book writers ever, Peter David (he essentially created the 'Professor Hulk" that the movies eventually adapted ^_^). I remember attending a convention where he read the story. It would be something if a droid appeared who used the Force, as it would turn all previous belief that only 'Living/Organic Beings" could do so, and maybe kick off the Droid Uprising I've always said is somewhere in the Star Wars future ^_^

Paz specifically protects the boy (it could have been anyone but it wasn't) and most importantly The Armorer pre painted his helmet to match. what I want to know is why is Din Djarin's helmet seemingly unpainted. it's like he's a blank slate, a wild card, a coin on its edge 🤷

Thanks for the video Paul! SO stoked that Mando is back! I didn't love the weird insistence of needing the droid, especially given the lengths he had to go to restore it.. More than that though, I don't love that it's not completely destroyed, what? He kamikazed the storm troopers, and was melting in lava. (I'm assuming the legs of the statue weren't the original legs?) That aside though, can't wait for all the other episodes!

Halcyon was an Easter egg for a major character from the EU named Corran Horn. He started as an X-Wing pilot in the new Rogue Squadron before discovering his Jedi heritage and training under Luke. Great stuff

Long story short this episode really showed you the story arc of droids being autonomous slaves against the Republic to becoming chastised at the bar Luke was at to now being a statue in the square where the bar was. Irony and story arc

Hope a connection is made from Grogu spotting the 'pod' of space whales during hyper space travel, perhaps a prelude to a scene for the upcoming Asoka series, considering that Ezra Bridger and Admiral Thrawn were both taken by the same species of space whales into hyper space travel during the series finale of Star Wars Rebels.

This was such a fun episode. They really made full use of the runtime with great intros to our favorite characters and some good action sprinkled throughout. A few shots made me audibly gasp and I can tell this season is gonna be a crazy fun ride! Great breakdown
