This episode was directed by Dave Filoni, the man is basically George Lucas’s apprentice. He worked on Avatar the last airbender and The Clone Wars series. He probably knows Star Wars better than any one in Lucasfilm right now. The fact that he is helping and guiding this series is what makes me so excited for the next season.

Lets not diminish Favreau either. I will never argue against Filoni's knowledge of Star Wars, but Favreau has enough knowledge of the, I hate to say, politics of dealing with Disney to keep them off the back of the Mandalorian creative process. Those 2 are the future of Star Wars if Disney has any brains left... which can be questioned nowadays lol.

Technically, we have seen another of Yoda’s species. In Episode 1, the Phantom Menace, Yaddle is on the Jedi council. She is also of that species

I just did this with my 7 year old daughter during the lockdowns. We did 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and R1 and Solo. We are now about to start Ep 6 of The Mandalorian...she loves it all and I LOVE witnessing her coming up with her own theories. Can't wait for season 2 of Mando. This is the way.

I Highly recommend you watch the Old Republic Cinematic trailers.They take place almost 4000 years before A New Hope.There are 5 trailers, all about 5 mins long but it is without question, Star Wars at its best. “It’s shot so well” The crazy part is all of this was shot on a fairly small sound stage. All of it! And the outdoor environment (land, rocks, snow, sky) around him is all projected on a curved digital screen that surrounds the entire stage!! So cool!

This episode had a lot of callbacks to the Star Wars Christmas Special that aired in 1978...this special is where the first Mandelorian was introduced(in an animated segment of the special) and the opening scene of the Mando trying to escape that sea creature, the weapon he used to electrocute it with, was all first done in that Christmas special...

"Wait, no, don't end!" That was me and my gf's reaction for every episode of the Mandalorian haha. We did see Yaddle, another of Yoda's species in episode 1. However, their species is never specified in detail, as in, we don't know if they were the last, or if there's more of them, or where they come from. This series is answering and exploring so many potentials. I'm excited for you to experience the first season, and get all excited even more so for season 2! There's a few references in here from the Holiday Special, such as his ancestors rode the great "insert species here" (sorry, forgot what they were called). In the Holiday Special, Boba Fett is seen riding one. John Favreau, one of the guys who has a big hand in saving the franchise, loves the Holiday Special. Him and Dave Filoni are what Star Wars fans need.

Also, a little lore: Kuill (the pigman) is an Ugnaut, the same species seen in Empire Strieks Back working in Bespin that were going to melt down C-3PO. The IG-11 Assassin Droid is related to the bounty hunter IG-88 seen in Emprie and the IG-100 series that protected General Grevious (with the electro-staffs).

To answer your question about the Foundlings, they are orphan children not native to Mandalore or any of her colonies and taken in by a clan to be raised in the Mandalorian traditions. This particular example lost his family during the Clone Wars as a child, and Mandalorians who had been hired as mercenaries by his homeworld took him in after wiping out the Separatist forces razing his village.

It only gets better from there! Another member of Yoda's species has been seen before, it was a female who was also on the Jedi Council and her name was Yadle (can't remember what episode it was but it was one of the prequels). The payment of Beskar he was offered is the rare durable metal that a Mandolorian's armour is made from and has a chrome appearence to it. As the season progresses he gets more and you'll notice the change in the look of his armour.

9:00 ur actually wrong here. In the phantom menace in all the council scenes you can see yaddle, a female jedi of the same species as yoda. Fun fact: her design was initially made to be a young Yoda before they took into account that his age should've looked closer to his age in the OT so instead of scrapping the model they put it in he film as a different character.

Yoda's species has an affinity for the force. Their home planet is hidden in order to protect them from those that might use this to their advantage. You can briefly see a 'female Yoda' called Yaddle on the Jedi Council in The Phantom Menace, though she died before Attack of the Clones.

Foundling: Mandalorians adopt war orphans. They view family as more than genetics, so it's fairly common to find family groups of different species. They view the relationship of parent to child, sibling to sibling, as far more important than a genetic link. They are a tribal/clan collection of people. The "must keep your helmet on" idea is fairly new. They used to just view armour as equipment they used to protect themselves. The group of Mandalorians in the show decided to make the idea of never letting anyone see your face a part of their creed after the Empire defeated them. I'm sure it makes dating problematic.

This and The Clone Wars series are the Best Star Wars to come out since Empire Strikes Back......Dave Filoni and now with Jon Favreu are the reason...Dave worked right next to Lucas for years and years...He is the next best thing to Lucas.....If you haven't seen it, watch him talk about Duel of the Fates from Episode 1...mind blowing....can't wait for season 2
