That s VERY kind thing to say- regarding your hope that we would film a reaction. Initially, we weren't going to do one- as we have never filmed ourselves watching something for the first time when it comes to a movie or TV show. In fact, that makes me wish we could've filmed my reaction to "The Force Awakens" when we saw it in theaters. People would've FLIPPED for that. Anyway, thank you again for the kind words- yes, Jennifer did clutch me a few times during the finale, as you'll see in about 80 minutes. Also 49, absolutely loved it, totally cried. Talked to my best friend earlier today (seriously, another 49 year old dude); he cried as well. I think there's something about Gen'Xers who grew with the original trilogy that resonates even deeper than usual. I've literally been binge watching reaction videos for the past few days just to re-live it with through other people. I don't think I've seen a dude in his 40's not get at least teary-eyed. To be fair, the appeal is universal, and lots of people got emotional. But to grow up seeing Luke's struggles, then finally get to see him in his prime. Not just wrecking house for the sake of wrecking house, but being calm and matter-of-fact in his actions, because that's simply what NEEDED to be done. Just friggin' perfect. I was so happy for Mark Hamill I literally screamed "Yes!!!" a second time just seeing his name in the credits. Remember that time Luke Skywalker showed up and saved 2020?

LOVE this response! Thank you for sharing. And you're right- it's not the same for them, but it can be their own love that is unique to them, like my wife and how she relates to the saga and franchise. She always loved the saga (especially because "Episode I" was the first film we saw together as a couple and we've watched everything together since then), but not the way I do- then Mado and Grogu came along. And she formed a very deep connection with them and the series. Now, she's hooked for life in a similar way. That can happen to your kids, too! And I say this with all due respect, no negativity intended: it would be great if you explained to your daughter that your reaction is what every filmmaker, actor, composer, etc who works in filmmaking and arts hopes for when people are exposed to their creations. It's an aesthetic reaction and one that is perfectly normal and intended. I hope she'll come to understand, respect, and appreciate that. Again, I say this with as much respect as possible. It was really interesting how your attitude changed once the X-Wing came into view. Up to that point you seemed almost "casual" about the show trying to making clever remarks. Then, suddenly you stiffened up, eyes wide open and it was obvious you were completely pulled into the show! That was one hell of a finale! I'd venture that 90% of us were crying, laughing, pinching ourselves and just trying to take it all in!
@HollywoodLito3 жыл бұрын
Naw, I wasn't casual. Jennifer will attest to the fact that I love the show and a fully engaged. I said the funny remarks simply so that the video wasn't just us sitting there silently- because if I had edited that together and presented that SOMEONE would've complained, as they usually do when we simply it and watch: "Your reaction videos are boring. You guys don't say anything." We try to explain to people that we'd rather they see the reactions in our eyes, body, mouths, faces, but...they don't seem to take kindly to that sort of reactive-yet-passive watching. (And, for the record: we both kinda make jokes like that when watching many things, I just cut some of hers out- but we enjoy making each other laugh). And yes, one HELL of a finale. @@boosuedon Oh, no worries- I was simply explaining our approach. If I came across as angry or too blunt, I apologize- was not my intent. I just know that if we're quiet, people complain. If we say too much, people complain. So we always try to find a nice middle ground while watching and my edits try to reflect that- during times of great emotion (such as Luke's appearance and Grogu's farewell), I try to let the picture and music do the work rather than our comments. So there's more stuff in the beginning to fill the space and less at the end because- no space filler is needed at that point as it's all on our faces and in our eyes. That, with the music, tells a beautiful story, IMO. Thank you for being so cool, civil, and respectful! Have a great holiday season and may the Force be with you- always!

That's very kind of you to say. I feel a bit odd writing it, but, you're welcome. This is how we wanted to see Luke portrayed when Disney first bought the Star Wars franchise. What makes it so emotional is that we've seen him portrayed as a broken old hermit (which really isn't what Luke would do). We all felt it totally disrespected his character. Than, we see this version of Luke, the grand master Luke, and we all feel the love and respect these people behind the scenes truly have for the franchise we love. It's full circle seeing our childhood hero being shown the love and respect we've all had for him. On top of all this, you have the whole heart wrenching scene with Din and Grogu. Than you have R2 to come in and give everyone a good, tearful, happy reunion. My emotions were all over the damn place in the last 10 minutes of this episode. They could end the series right here, and I'd feel fulfilled. Brilliant writing and acting. Favreau and Filoni are the heroes Star Wars fans NEEDED. They're turning this franchise around to what it should've been from the start. Great reaction. I cried again watching this with you guys. Cheers, and wish you guys nothing but the best in the coming new year.

Also, Grogu escaped Anakin going wild. He most likely escaped Kylo as well.

@@Duopierce Yeah, after much discussion with other fans, in this comment section, I no longer think Grogu was killed by Kylo. But, I didn't have any idea it was actually canon that he wasn't until I was told that by other fans, as well! Anyway, thank you once again!

It's just such a masterfully-executed scene, really. That's what got me even more than it being Luke- just how expertly crafted it was in terms of writing, cinematography, etc. Bravo to everyone involved. Thanks for the watch and comment! Wishing you a great 2021!

Best. Reaction. Video. Ever. I just turned 50, and Star Wars was the first film I ever saw in a theater as a child. (Needless to say, I’m a fan.) I had the same damn reaction as you. The moment that x-wing flew past, I thought, “surely they aren’t doing this to us...”. *gasps* Jedi on the black/white monitor. *cue tears* Green lightsaber in gloved hand. *open the floodgates* In one show, and specifically in one episode, Dave and Jon gave us what 40 years, and millions of wasted dollars spent on movies could not. They gave us what we needed to see: Luke. You’re reactions were classic, and exemplify those of every geek of my generation. Well done.

You're so kind- and we truly appreciate such a detailed and kind comment! Now, you wouldn't have happened to record your reaction, would you have? I'm fascinated to see the different points at which all the fans either began to suspect or KNOW: it's Luke. Obviously you saw my video and know that pretty early on I was like, "Is it...Luke?! No way!" I had begun to suspect either him or Mace Windu would respond to Grogu's call right after we watched that episode for the first time. But it's so cool to see and read different reactions and responses to the amazing way they deliberately unfolded all of this. You could absolutely tell that they had storyboards so that they could drag this out as long as possible just to build up our excitement and anticipation: such a masterful execution of the design! In any case, thank you for the watch and comment! We hope you have a happy New Year!
