I feel like people who didn’t like this episode missed it’s importance: Bo and Djinn are working to restore Mandalore, and in this episode they got diplomatic recognition from another planet, as well as an entire Mandalorian fleet. That seems pretty important and great progress.
@arizeokafor266
@arizeokafor266 Жыл бұрын
We didn't miss that. It's just been a horribly constructed season with no overall cohesion and direction apart from : reclaim mandalore, oh, and wannabe-Vader is back. Disney products start off great and then sputter and burn out when the execs realize what they thought would be poorly received is actually liked by the fans. You could have had Bo have her redemptive arc (complete with reclaiming the light Sabre) if it had been done properly without sidelining the main character which is the main draw for most fans. P.S.: we are allowed to critique the shows/movies we watch without turning into blind/irate fan boys. This show has become a farcry from its earlier seasons with regards to quality, pacing, tension and dialogue

Bo will have the Blade but Mando and Grogu will ride the Mythosaur. Grogu can reason with it and I think Bo will have Din as her advisor or something high in her inner circle (not shipping them, but it’s not unreasonable to think of it). This episode touched on two areas I really wanted to learn more about: driod sentience and rights, and Separatists. Droids being essentially immortals bound in servitude, I wanted to learn more about their underground culture and beliefs as a group, and got some here. And I love the idea that a number of planets are taking a third option and pursuing non-alignment with the New Republic or Imperial remnants, like Navarro and Mandalore. While the cameos and everything were wacky, I wished that those subjects had been explored deeper.

@@Ruzzky_Bly4tI disagree. After season two and BOBF, I assumed this season would be heavy on the Mandalorian culture. Din trying to redeem himself, possible conflict between he and Bo and the other Mandos, and would they be able to restore Mandalore. Who would end up with the Darksaber? With Ahsoka coming soon, there would also be the possibility of more hints of Thrawn and other Imperials. With Rangers of the New Republic seemingly no longer in development and no Gina Carano, they probably had to rework some things and incorporate those into this and other shows. We are also seeing Grogu develop a bit more, using the Force, almost speaking, and we got the Order 66 flashback So, while some things seem a little weird and oddly structured, many of the important points are being hit, and we have two more episodes this season.

I have noticed a certain "species-ism" among characters in the shows, as well as those that react to the shows. It was interesting to watch the reaction to the interspecies love and kiss in this episode. I couldn't help but wonder how many had a similar reaction to the Kirk/Uhura kiss when it first aired. Non-humanoid creatures in the Star Wars universe are often treated as little more than "critters" regardless of their sentience.

Its repetitive. Its almost like there is no plot. Send Din jarin on a useless mission quest with bland dialogue and a few action scenes. Over and over and over. Boba fet was supposed to be the Mandalorian season 3 and the writers have clearly no clue what to do with the characters.
@cinematicgoodness7325
@cinematicgoodness7325 Жыл бұрын
@@originaldelta I don't really find it repetitive. Maybe in previous seasons, but even then I don't have a problem with it. To me the Mandalorian is more like the live action version of The Clone Wars. It has a good mix of episodic and serialized over-arching stuff that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. This season especially to me has been the least repetitive of the three seasons. Hardly at all: Episode 1: Mando's looking for Mandalore to bathe in it's Waters and be Reborn. Episode 2: Mando finds Mandalore and with Bo-Katan and Grogu's help, finds the Waters and both Bo-Katan and Mando are reborn after they each took a plunge. Episode 3: an entirely different story being told that still ties into the current arch involving Grogu, the Empire/First Order and cloning, where we follow a man wanting to do some good for the new republic by bringing back his cloning studies and tech to have it suit a more noble selfless purpose. Oh and Bo-Katan and Din are welcomed back into the Creed. Episode 4: The Mandalorians have to rescue one of their foundlings while we learn the secret of how Grogue escaped Order 66 featuring Ahmed Best's spectacular vindication back into Star Wars. Episode 5: Navarro is taken over by the pirates we meet in Episode 1 and the Mandalorians dive in to liberate the city and its people, resulting in the Armorer granting Bo-Katan the freedom to be helmet less to prop her up as a symbol for unification between different Mandalorian tribes since she's of two different sides of their coin and the rightful ruler of Mandalore. Episode 6: Din and Bo-Katan try to unify their first tribe, Bo-Katan's old Mandalorian crew who've become hired mercenaries, but must first help a couple of diplomats restore peace to their city to gain access to her old crew. The generally story seems to be uniting the Mandalorians with Din and Bo-Katan leading this effort, while the side plot brewing in the background continues to revolve around Grogu's importance to the Empire and how that ties into the Sequel Trilogy. Literally only the most recent episode so far has felt the most side-quest-y, but the important stuff still comes together at the very end of it.

This is the first episode of the mando that I actually disliked. It felt like an SNL sketch that ended on the exact same note as the rebels episode that bo got the darksaber. Imo this episode sacrificed a ton of nuance and interesting story for cameos and oh bo had the dark Saber again. Even this season every episode until this one ended leading somewhere I wanted to go. The mandalorians divesting possession of the dark Saber from the right to rule and reconnecting it to taming a mythasaur is what I wanted, that and the darksaber to go to grogu. This episode just said no to all of that and kicked me in the balls ta boot. BIG FAIL imo

The problem is that Rangers of The New Republic was canceled, and as they have said multiple times since then, they took a lot of the story beats from that and incorporated them into The Mandalorian. This resulted in a chimera of the two different series, hence why at times, the show doesn't feel like The Mandalorian, but a different show. And this episode is the best example of that, as like over half an hour of it was essentially a Rangers of The New Republic episode, meanwhile the remaining 10 to 15 minutes was a very short Mandalorian episode. That dichotomy between the two tones of what should be separate shows is so damn noticeable, that it is causing viewers to feel weird. Obviously, the best way to fix this would be to separate the two again, whether it is by going ahead and resurrecting the scrapped Rangers of The New Republic show, or creating something else under a different title. Either way, they need to maybe not include these story beats from other projects into the Mandalorian. Also maybe the executives/Disney should let Jon and Dave do their thing without forcing them to turn their baby (Mandalorian) into a show meant to introduce other spinoffs, that the executives decide to cancel anyway.

I loved this episode and teared up at the end, as it reminded me of Rebels when Sabine Wren gave Bo Katan the dark saber. The Mandalorians are rebuilding their world and status in the galaxy. The ending was epic. Bo Kantan continues to show her power and growth. Mando shows his leadership and wisdom, and Grogru keeps being adorable. We see an excellent translation of the "Filoniverse" from animation to live action. Bryce Dallas Howard needs to be the next Star Wars film director.

In fact, I really don't know what the story is. I thought season 2 would lead to a lot more than what has happened. This whole season has been fun but also weird and aimless. This quickly sets up the finale where Bo Katan will be able to lead both the Night Owls, and the Children of the Watch, against possibly Moff Gideon and, in the Asoka series, Grand Admiral Thrawn. The filler portion, of this episode, raises Grogu’s status. He may be able to, one day, call in a favor since he is now, Sir Grogu. The Mandalorian may be able to find that one missing droid part. Who knows? This episode is part of a build up of allies. It was silly, but a blast to watch Detective Din Jarin and Constable Bo Katan , figure out why the droids were malfunctioning. When she interfered with his original season three storyline, she forced him to lose a lot of time to properly develop other storylines that would not have been present in this season. To get back on track, Jon Favreau is using this season to make up for lost time. With that being said, Jon is making a very strategic effort to set up the Asoka series properly. It’s going to be a Herculean task, but if he can do this, then the first season of Ashoka will take over all the baggage that season three, of the Mandalorian, had to create, and this will allow the Mandalorian to get back on his original path ( well, sort of): being a bounty hunter.

I honestly like the episode, I enjoyed it a lot, only one problem is the ending, Din's excuse to give the Darksaber back seems lame and made up in haste, it's possible that Din did it just to convince the Mandalorians and both Din and Bo-Katan know it's far-fetched but it worked, I personally thought when Din said "it's not a gift" he would finish by saying "I challenge you". However, if this argument is fully serious, then for me this is a poor solution to this thread. Also, what was the purpose of Din getting the Darksaber in the first place? Nothing came of it, he didn't learn to wield it, he didn't even use it as an argument to get the Mandalorians to listen to him, there was no fight between him and Bo. Chekhov's gun that didn't fire. PS: Mandalorians seeing Bo-Katan get Darksaber from someone again - "Ah shit, here we go again"

This will be lost here, but here's why it felt so weird. 1. They open with the mandos, not fighting, not showing off their strength but just using their big ship to intimidate a smaller ship, it's not really all that impressive. Later, they say, "That's an impressive fleet" but you get TOLD that in this episode, they should have shown an action set piece early on. 2. No consequences. Their writing diverted from "every robot is infected with the override code." and "Only a specific batch of robots who drank the poison code" are malfunctioning because of that code? There were no threats to things we liked, even having some robots spying on the leaders and them being paranoid of the robot malfunctioning and attacking them mixed with their need to be served. Imagine if Lizzo or JB were reliant on a droid to live or something. 3. DARK SABER MESSAGING. I thought this episode would show that between Bo and Din them basically exchanging the saber and saving each other. So at the end, when they go out on a technicality we can see Bo basically make the choice between honoring "The Way" or taking Din's position, murky at best, and leading her fleet, that back and forth imo would have been great. 4. Christopher Lloyd wasn't great. Love the actor, but his character didn't have an endgame or any specific goals that we were aware of outside, at some point turning the entire droid army against the people, but for who, why? Is the most compelling reasons, "they'd die, so we can't do it"? It didn't work at all for me. His ending was also lame, "Yes, I threatened the entire planet." "Well, you're exiled, byeeee" tonally it was wayy off. 5. The fight at the end, was way to short, way to "nice" and basically felt like a Mando fight checklist. "Flamethrower, check. Bomb check. Tether attack, check. Knife throwing check. Ok we're done here, Bo wins." Should have been brutal, should have had to fight between bruises, broken bones and not whatever this slap fight was. 6. Instead of returning to the Ungars? idk how to spell them, but the mechanics. Why not go back to them to help figure out the whole nano-bot issue. Them being upset their work was corrupted by the official, making them look bad, seems like a good motivation to get them involved, but no we go to CSI Plantir 15 or whatever, where Din saves Bo... with Bo's darksaber that she didn't take from Din on the first technicality, technically making it... his again...? I think all those issue are the major reasons why this episode felt as Greg said, clunky. Thanks if you read this; I had it get it out of my brain.

@@kmjkmjkmj I doubt. Bo-Katan gave him saber back. I think Din used that moment as a technicality to save Bo-Katan's ass. They both know that moment wasn't true duel but it's enough real so it won't take them over as dishonest in their voice.

Great analysis guys. Love your honesty. I hate when people love everything regardless of the quality almost as much as I can't stand when people hate everything regardless of the quality. So honesty is always the best route. I didn't dislike the episode as much as many even though I agree with some of the criticisms I heard about it from you and others. I think people are really underestimating how much reuniting Grogu and Din in BOBF harmed the show. And although I love Bo and her arc, I don't think Din should be sidelined as much as he has. Both stories should be just as compelling. Also thought the whole robot and uncovering of Lloyd's character was a little too Scooby Dooish. Not nearly on the Scooby Doo level of Obiwan but still. Despite this I still enjoyed the episode more than many. And I'm usually one of the more discerning viewers. But I was able to appreciate the episode for what it was.

I’m pretty much with you guys on this. I love the Mandalorian and have been trying to look for the good in Season 3. Unfortunately it has been hit and miss and this latest one has me stumped. It was fun but it was also very unfulfilling. I’m ok with cameos that makes sense, but this recent one is just weird and gratuitous. I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that the final 2 episodes stick the landing.

I think there's a limit on how many cameos an episode should have. The last time we had 3 cameos or guest appearances was when B Arthur, Harvey Korman, and Art Carney appeared on the Star Wars Christmas special.

Honestly one of the most dreadful episodes I’ve ever had to endure in the Star Wars franchise. Literally have 2 episodes left in the season with STILL no real sense of direction. This would’ve been the perfect episode to actually show Moff Gideon after he had escaped so we can finally see the face of this season’s big bad but it doesn’t even feel like there will be a reveal of any true antagonist until the VERY end of the season which will obviously be another 30-40 min episode, which is OBVIOUSLY not enough time.

I enjoyed this episode. It's ok to have a little fun. I liked this better than the episode frying the doctors brain

I have a different opinion with the Star Wars and new Marvel phases. I think this time, I genuinely believe Disney allowed the Directors and writers to have their thing. Like I think this episode is a creative choice of Fav and the writers, and the team. And Disney didn’t get themselves involved anymore. But, that became a problem, too much freedoms pushed them to do their things. Which is why Papa Iger came back, and will set things right again, by reducing said creative freedom or choice.

This was a Taika Waititi episode, it seems. But hopefully this fun amazing episode has ties up later.

This very much feels like an early season 1 episode to me. Just Mando and friends dashing about the place and completing sidequests for whoever is in charge of the area in order to get what he needs

The first episode I immediately was disappointed after meeting a character. Lizzo, really!? Acting has been perfect up until now. The beginning of the end of Mandalorian.

So......Grogu is just gonna spend the entire season doing cute stuff and absolutely nothing of substance....and KK probably couldn't be happier. His presence does literally nothing for whatever it is they are trying to do with this season....should have left him with Luke and just cut back between Mando/Bo adventures and Grogu Jedi training and it would have been 100 times better than whatever the hell we are getting right now.
