Not really a fan of the way Dream handled his scandal. He threw most of his critics under the bus (especially Geosquare & the rest of the mod team). He said that he wasn't aware his Luck Mod was active, but I don't really buy that. Dream has a history of telling others he wasn't aware of something, only for there to be concrete evidence to the contrary. To his credit, he did answer most questions ppl had & even told content creators who the astrophysicist was (myself included)--but that was really only part of his façade and doesn't begin to make up for the rest of the situation.

I do genuinely believe the he thought he wasn't cheating for a good chunk of this ordeal, for me the real conspiracy is at what point did he realise he had the mod installed and whether or not he doubled down. Like I mentioned in the video (and Karl mentioned in his), there would be psychopathic levels of delusion to believe you could get away with lying about not cheating while knowing you were. The Astrophysicist even told Dream that he would publish the findings of their report even if it proved Dream was cheating, and he still went along with it. Again, he might've believed he could outsmart the astrophysicist but idk Minecraft KZbinr vs Harvard PHD is like coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb. But yes, I agree wither way, the way he handled the situation was exceptionally poor.

@@ManyKudos I believe Dream submitted his minecraft folder to speedrun moderators for inspection. Having a modding developer work on your stuff would be natural for a content creator like him, but submitting the clean version twice? He must have known almost immediately.

My main problem is the way he handled the accusations. If he had simply remained calm and amicable it would be likely that the issue would be resolved pretty quickly. The mod would be discovered, dream could explain he didn't know about it because of content creator shenanigans, and he'd likely be let off with a slap on the wrist at most. Instead he was immediately aggressive and weaponised his fan base against the mods, who despite having power over his run submission were much less powerful when it comes to internet popularity. It's a running issue with dream from what I've seen, he's not good at staying calm or reasonable in the face of accusations. He almost always goes on the offensive which is almost always the wrong move in these situations, rewarding accusations that were quickly made up for attention or encouraging harassment towards well meaning people. He reacts first and thinks much later and it creates so many unnecessary issues and conflicts.

As someone who mods Minecraft a lot, I find it very unlikely that Dream didn't know he had loaded a mod to increase pearl drops. Not only would he have to open the Minecraft profile that specifically is labeled as modded, but there's also a big old button that says "Mods" so you can see which mods you have loaded.

100%. I watched another speedrunner (SmallAnt I think?) play a modded version that copied the drop rates Dream was using. He said it was a completely different experience, and just stupid how easy it was with the extra blaze rods and pearls. And he's not even a big Minecraft speedrunner either, he only plays casually. A top-tier speedrunner like Dream, with 1000's of hours of time in game, would absolutely notice the difference. One run may be lucky, two would start to be suspicious, but six? He would've had alarm bells going off in his head.

exactly, nevermind the fact that even in his apology, he's blaming the developer he hired for adding "illegal" mods on his client-side when its very unlikely that they'd do that without him knowing. the fact that initially his mod folder was conveniently deleted so it couldn't be handed in to the moderators for investigation means he had to have known he had client-side stuff that was affecting drop rates

12:45 I am sure that someone already said about it, but in order to play with mods you need to: 1. Install specific forge(or fabric) version. 2. Open the modified version in the launcher, so it will be fully installed. 3. Download the mod. 4. Put the mod into the mod folder. 5. Open the modified version in the launcher again. And even then, forge has a *loading screen* , where you can see *progress of loading* . And even if you somehow missed *ALL* of that, main menu has mods button if you're playing modded version.

This is a good video but you got a lot of random facts wrong for some reason. Villager trading was the main strategy used by speed runners before piglins. Only time people would kill endermen is if they had fortune, which sometimes some runners would get from temples. Dream also did not have 10 million subs when he got his cheated record. 4:10 there has actually been one seed found where the end portal spawned with all 12 eyes in it but That was in an earlier update I think caves and cliffs so the world that has the full portal is gone now. The audacity, the sheer gull of this man! Calling Ender Dragon "He" instead of "She"! That's unthinkable and absolutely proposterous! Im flabbergasted by the only notion of that and he did it multiple times in the video. Shane of you for doing such a bad research! Jokes aside, this is one of my favorite facts to punch everyone into the face. It sounds unintuitive at the first glance, but actually makes a lot of sense. I mean, after her death the egg is revealed which means either that she layed it, or that she was protecting her offspring to the death (which in animal kingdom is mostly female behaviour)
