Gidey’s press conference comments will be a great way to tell how she’s feeling. At the Valencia Half marathon she said she thinks she could pull of a 62:30, which she didn’t quite hit, but she still smashed it. From what I understand from comments from her coach in the recent NNRunning video featuring her, she wants to take on the marathon world record. So I believe she’s planning and training for that 2:14:04 time to go down. I guess we’ll see. It’s been a long wait, but I have a feeling she can do it.

This is gonna be really interesting to watch. Clearly Gidey has an insane amount of fitness and has proven her endurance all the way up the world record list. The marathon truly is a different beast though. My guess is she runs strong in Valencia but not unbelievable, maybe a 2:18, but with time and some focused attention on being able to hold pace for that long, I think she's a 2:12 girl at her peak.
@johannsebastianbach16492 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t count her out on a WR Debut. I think sub 2:16 is possible. If literally everything goes perfect for her, she runs a 2:12-2:13. I guess we’ll see what she says at the press conference.
@mathieudube69072 жыл бұрын
This year has seen many marathon debutantes run fantastically fast times. Gidey has better form and pedigree than all of them. Based on recent results and times on the womens side there is no reason to suggest she wont put up a super time.
@johannsebastianbach16492 жыл бұрын
@@mathieudube6907 Yehualaw and Ayana both broke the debut world record. Gidey is arguably stronger than them both, running a 10k world record just short of sub 29 minutes like nothing, kind of like Ayana’s world record at Rio. And let’s not forget Gidey absolutely destroying Yehualaw at the Valencia marathon. Yehualaw is an incredibly strong athlete, but Gidey just has the pedigree over her. Shoe technology helps runners avoid injury and have better recovery. From training to racing that helps each runners progressions time wise. Nothing worse then getting injured and having to start over on your fitness. With that said, the runners still have to run and have the endurance.
